Hi Rosemary, long time no reply from me I am sorry, I will get back to your other comments too, Things have been rather busy lately so getting out to film has taken a back seat. Great to hear from you, trust all is well in your part of the world. The drone show was great this year, so much more technical (eg. 360º images) however I think the crowd prefer to see more relatable images that tell more of a story, eg more things like the bird with moving wings, a quokka or two would have brought a cheer from the crowd. It was a great atmosphere down on the foreshore. 😀❤

It was great to see so many people in both South Perth and also Langley Park last night to celebrate our national day, in spite of those who would make us feel ashamed and the growing 'black armband' view of our history. We're not perfect, but Happy Australia Day and lets' continue to feel grateful and glad of our country.

It was a fantastic atmosphere down on the city side of the river.. I’m sure there was a similar atmosphere over in South Perth. Happy Australia Day, it was great to see so many families of all nationalities out enjoying all there was to do, .

Again the perfect vantage point for the drone light show, Grant! I’m so grateful you continue to capture the sights and experiences of our beautiful state and humble city of Perth. I hope you won’t be stopping any soon.
Regarding the show, it was skilfully presented but, ugh, personally I think it lacked a lot of character. I mean, we already know the whole “City of Lights” deal was propaganda to put Perth on the proverbial map. Then, possibly one of the most despicable dynasties of WA?! Great. Bin chicken. I love it. But really didn’t need to take up such a long time. The pie and sauce was funny.
Maybe for next year they’ll survey a cross section of people in WA and get their opinion on what they consider great about our state, and Perth city, past and present, that’s worth celebrating, brings fondness, fosters hope, and what they do during Australia Day holidays past and present. That could be a more interesting and connecting visual story to unfold in the night’s sky over the Swan.

Thank you for your awesome comments. I think I would agree with what you said as I was thinking something very similar whilst watching it. It was great to see more technically advanced show (eg. 360º images) however I think the crowd would have cheered more for more pictures that told stories. Nothing say’s Australia Day like a big green wheelie bin in the sky. OMG!! That was a pie and sauce the drones created.. thank you.. We couldn’t work out what that one was. Haha. Agree with what you said, when planing a drone show, they need to create images that the audience would like to see rather than just do the technical rotating images that don’t add to the story. I also think it is better when the drones “twinkle” in between formations rather then just a dark sky with each image suddenly appearing. Happy Australia Day. 😀
