    This gets really interesting at 27:15- great aside about the mistake of clear-coating your model. Very nice explanation, Mig!

    The final 12 minutes of this are groundbreaking. Mig finally addressed something that has bothered me for years. NOT applying that final sealing coat is a key to realism.

      So true. We get so focussed on colours and completely forget about texture. Recently finished an aircraft model, did the obligatory matt coat and it just lost something in it's overall look. A real aircraft has plenty of satin and gloss areas.

    I just saw this today. Excellent explanation of the use of varnishes and weathering to create realistic effects.

    very nice video...!!! The chipping fluid / enamel colours / water technique looks very interesting and I guess we will see more ideas from other modellers what you can do with the C.E.W. technique :-D

    Mig do you have to use an airbrush or can this effect be done with just a paint brush

    Is it possible to apply these products properly without an airbrush and still have similar effects?

    I'd want to use the heavy chipping fluid and enamel paints on my next scale crawler's lexan body. My concern is: When I'm done with the painting and if the truck drives into mud or water would the top enamel coats still hold or not? How safe is this in the long term, can the top enamel coats withstand scratchesand water as if this chipping fluid wasn't even there beneath?

    Is there a video where MIG shows how to get to the initial white panel with the tiny rust species and the uneven surface? That’s what I would like to create as a start. Thx for any advice

    At around the 15 min mark, Mig says “remember to use water” don’t do as I did, and use thinners... ended up a dark grey wash! :) You learn by your mistakes or mine.

    Did he seal those two samples with a varnish coat before he applyed the chipping fluid? It looks like the chipping fluid made the underlying paint all funky.

    • @stevie65able
      @stevie65able 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The underlying paint was already heavily textured for a rough effect.

    Hello...i am using the lucky gloss varnish on a model plane in order to apply decals. After a 24h plus drying time i place decal solvent for my decals and the whole model is ruined. It peels off. What is happening ? Since you don’t have a video about your lucky varnishes i thought i post this here. Could you pease help me.

    Hi, I always leave my chipping fluid on to dry for a couple of hours atleast to get realistic results! I find it alot better if left to dry for a while than leaving it 10 mins or so and it comes off way to easy in big flakes or peeling paint I don't like the effect when it's not left to kinda cure to give better results! Itself very easy and quick the fluid activates again with a drop of water! I've tried near them all AKs worn effects and migs heavy chipping only done with one fine layer is ths best! You can't even airbrush vallejo chipping medium it's that thick n gloopy like there retarder!

    Are most of the MIG paint products being used in this video pre-thinned?

    • @ghostdein1
      @ghostdein1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      all the products like streaking effects, dust effects are all pre-thinned out of the jar. The chipping fluid is not but I think you can use it straight in an airbrush

    If MIG dont use Varnish, how the hell does he apply decals?

    • @ArktikosAdventures
      @ArktikosAdventures ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm assuming it's common practice to apply a clear coat before decals to alleviate any silvering issues but only if the paint job is rough/mat. What Mig was really getting at was that you should still apply a clear coat after decals to protect them but only then and no more after that.
