If this guy only knew how much he helped me. I was a commercial crab fisherman on Alaska’s Bering Sea for 10 years before starting college at 29. This prof helped me get the grades needed in pre-reqs at a small city college in order to get into Cornell University (2021grad). His help getting me up to speed from 9th grade Algebra to Calc2 in 2018 got me through the gates and prepared me to later tackle multi linear regression, Econometrics and algorithmic back-propagation. Thank you prof.

Same, as a welder I had to just take up to 10th grade math and geometry and was terrified of taking math because I remember my junior year I failed it and had to retake my senior year.
I wanted to go back to school for mechanical engineering associates and up my current degree into a bachleors of science with manufacturing. But math and trig stood in my way, and his classes not only helped me when retaking the math I took before for college, but also new scarier math like Trig and Statistics. Very helpful alongside Khan academy.

Hey bud. Similar story. Fishing in Alaska was something I did as well. Was able to go to college at 29 also. Physics major at University California. Worked my butt off at night at Community College for years. Then transferred into UC. Although just moved away from California and withdrew from UC to relocate in another State. California got goofy. I'm swinging back to watch a few of his classes on Vectored Calculus to sharpen those skills. Took a year off to make the move to a Free State. Stay Salty. 🐄🛸

I’m sure I’m one of your more elderly admirers (dammit I’m 65 this year) but yes, you reached me too. Vectors calculus is something I’d always wanted to understand (I have this goal of trying to properly comprehend Maxwell’s equations before my time is up, but whatever I read and saw it didn’t quite work for me). And then I found you. You’ve already had so many fully deserved superlatives heaped upon you so I’ll add another: many of us hope that we can, through our existence, leave a wider legacy. Well, whatever you do from now on, you’ve already secured your legacy because of all the people you’ve helped and in such a brilliant way. I’m so pleased that things are going well for you, you deserve all the recognition you get.

So originally the names Chad and Stacey were used on some forums to refer (derogatory) to people who were physically attractive but generally illiterate...
similar to how the name Karen is being used nowadays to refer to entitled people who are somewhat out of touch with reality
The original meaning of Chad can be most prominently displayed in a number of "Chad vs Virgin" memes which ironically depict a poorly drawn Chad doing fairly inane things yet always succeeding side by side with a "virgin" who does more-or-less reasonable things but always fails.
Over time, the logic of criticizing a man for having a healthy sex life, possessing a muscular physique and being relatively well adjusted was questioned.
The original meaning of Chad was rejected by at least some internet people.
Gradually, it shifted from what it was, to being a synonym for "winner"
In recent years, some content creators have picked up on the word and begun to use it when discussing moral philosophy; what does it mean to be a "real" Chad.
Post Note: The term Stacey has not gone through the same evolution.
While it has fallen into relative disuse, it retains it's original derogatory meaning.

Professor Leonard: I commented this already, but I might as well say it again. Right before COVID started, maybe it was December 2019, I was walking into my PreCalc teacher's classroom as a sophomore in high school to ask him a question about something. I remember right as I was about to leave he was laughing at something. I came over to his computer and he said "Isaac, come look at this." It was a meme involving derivatives. Now as a math person, I was intrigued, but I couldn't understand the joke. "What's a derivative," I asked my teacher. He said "you'll learn about it either next year or the year after, depending." But I was determined: I had to find out what was so funny. So I went home and got onto my laptop and went into TH-cam and looked up "derivatives/what's a derivative" and some professor from an Ivy League school with a really thick accent was talking in tongues, but I didn't stop. I found your channel the 2nd time around after looking for a while. I took an old composition book I had laying around and decided to just start writing EVERYTHING that you were saying down. It started on Lecture 0.1, on lines and angles I believe. It didn't matter that I thought I already knew about this stuff, but I just kept writing and kept going through every lecture, until I got to derivatives. It took until Calc 2 on your channel for me to understand a joke involving e^x, but it was so worth it. It had only been a month. I had been coming home from school, doing my homework, and then just binged all your lectures until it was really way too late at night. So I got the joke, but I figured, "why stop there, this is actually really interesting." So anyway, I walked into my math teacher's classroom after I finally understood the joke and said "I GET IT NOW!!! LMAO". And he was like "what?" "Oh, the joke from last December," I said arrogantly haha. And I smacked these 2 composition books full of Calculus onto his desk and was like "WABAM." He said, "wha---", and then he backed me up saying, "yeah sure, KEEP GOING!!!" So I did. June 2020 popped around and I was finishing Stoke's Theorem... your last Calculus 3 video. That next year, I took AP Calculus BC and aced everything, got a 5 on the AP Exam. I Forrest Gumped Calculus basically. Anyway, I graduated early and am tutoring Calculus at a local community college as a part time job. Imagine that, all from wanting to UNDERSTAND. THANK YOU SO MUCH PROFESSOR LEONARD!!! Best teacher ever (don't tell my other teachers)

I cannot thank you enough for allowing anyone who wants to understand math have access to your lectures. While attending community college, I started learning math and followed these lectures starting from calculus one through ODE. During this time, I decided I wanted to be a mechanical engineer and was heavily encouraged to take an easier path with lower qualifications. I did not take this advice and substantially raised my GPA to gain acceptance to a tier-one engineering program. Your lectures directly contributed to my changing from someone who did not complete high school to someone who is finishing an engineering degree with a job offer. Educators who freely share their instruction, like yourself, absolutely make the world a better place. Thank you.

I'm currently taking up Computer Engineering and I cannot thank you enough for all of your lectures, you don't actually reach the extent of our topics like Laplace, but since you teach the basics in such a delicate and concerned manner, I am so glad I got myself founded on your teachings. It made me atleast understand even a little bit of these really complicated and mind-boogling math problems. I'm so grateful for you. You were with me from my College Calc 1-3, and now as I'm doing my Engineering Mathematics I rely on you still. Just finished reviewing again your lecture on partial fractions. I love how you don't WITHOLD INFORMATION, you don't ASSUME THAT WE REMEMBER BASIC ALGEBRA, and how you don't LEAVE US, ABANDON US TO FEND FOR OURSELVES. You give us no reason to fail, that's how you teach. Thankyou, You are truly a teacher, not just a powerpoint reader, notes reciter, or test giver. You are truly a teacher.

      I think that he should include the Laplace Transform in his "Differential Equations" playlist, which he is apparently still working on - that transform is incredibly useful for lots of differential equations, and it is even used for a lot of _partial_ differential equations, so it is highly relevant;
and the Fourier Transform as well, for that matter, which is a very similar method.

I have a lot of respect for anybody willing to take on the challenges of building their own home. When I was a young teenager, I would help my grandfather build homes and I never appreciated how much knowledge he accumulated by doing it himself, and the pride of saying we built this house. As an adult, i wish my wife and I had built our own home because when you do, your house ceases to be a number on somebody's project list. It is done as a one-off, and because you're doing it, you'll hopefully make sure it's done right. The homeowner is usually the last one to cut a corner when they are building something for their family. Good on you and I hope your family is healthy and well.
May the Lord richly bless you, your family and the work you are doing at home, and in academia.

I was a D level math student trying to bravely take on calculus when I discovered Professor Leonard. His videos enabled me to get an A, but also realize that I had everything I needed to go further. This year I will graduate with an MS in Computational Analytics.
Probably more valuable is my adoption of his way of communicating difficult concepts. In my career, I will often stop and call out the importance of the next thing I am about to say and that is 100% from Prof Leonard.

I never passed Algebra 2 in high school (and nearly didn't graduate in general), but I got into programming & game development in my free time while at my community college, which happens to require a lot of math lol. Never thought I'd be good at it, but having content like this and a teacher that is just so incredibly supportive has helped me turn what I thought was a weakness into one of my strengths. From a college kid in SoCal who thought he wasn't smart enough to take higher level math classes, thank you. Wishing you the very best with all you've got going on.

I’m in the second semester now and I went back through the calc 1, 2, now calc 3 videos to tighten up any loose ends before I go into a diff eq and linear algebra course this summer. The way you explain concepts makes it so much easier to follow and it makes me constantly think “oh, why didn’t I get this sooner? It’s so easy now”. Thank you for everything you’ve done and now I’m going into college for my physics degree and potentially math degree also. Thank you professor!

A little bit about me and how you have impacted my life. I am currently in the service, and attending college online and having a full-time job is difficult. It becomes even more so when you have a professor who genuinely does not belong in teaching. Which is what I am dealing with right now.

Hey Professor Leonard, I know you're busy and you might not even see this, but I had to tell you that your videos got me through calc 3. I tried 3 different colleges this last semester and just finished a fast track calc 3 class with an A because of you. Your videos are great! They are easy to follow and funny and I will never be able to explain how much they have helped me. I struggled through calc 1 and 2 not with grades but with truly understanding the material. I love math and I was so frustrated because of lack of teaching from my professors. Mostly they just show you how to solve a problem not explaining what you're doing. To be honest I didn't think I was going to be able to finish my degree. I had just dropped calc 3 for the second time because of professors that weren't making things clear and then I found your videos. Thank you so much for making and sharing them. I truly appreciate your time and effort. Please be well and know you'll always have so much love and support from some many students that you've never met!
