    What blows me away the most is the fact you've been involved with grind king for a couple years now as far as supporting the company rocking their products and being in regular communication with the owner of gk combined with the fact you're a skateboard archiver/historian with an emphasis on the golden era.... And yet you're just NOW discovering rocket bolts!?!? 🤯

    Most of us know Grind King's "Rockets" bolts as "Randoms" - the company who stole the idea off GK, and this isn't the first time GK hardware's innovation got ripped off for those of us who are old enough to remember "Bridge Bolts" and of course the Reverse Kingpin got stolen as well.

    2 recent pairs of grindkings the kingpin snapped off in a way that it's stuck in the baseplate and needs to be drilled out. Never broke a kingpin before and only ever skated grind king. Switched to tensors after that.

    The GK kingpin was genius. I have run them pretty much since they came out. I've found trucks and boards with the trucks on, from garage sales thrift shops and marketplace, on and off for the last 20 years. When Indy went to the pressed in kingpin I'd put new hangers on OG baseplates so the kingpins would work. Some of their kingpins wee better than others and I actually broke one of my last ones skating my 2' mini ramp last weekend! Weird.

    • @johnnypea43
      @johnnypea43 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@viracocha03 That's solid commitment from them. I figure I owe it to them to buy some KP's eventually, since I probably got the one I broke from a garage sale haha. The Indy mids I have come with a inverted KP, but it's probably 1/8" higher than the GKs.

    • @viracocha03
      @viracocha03 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@johnnypea43 Yeah, I had emailed them with the offer to purchase the KP, I'm in Canada and cannot find any around me, but he said he would just send em out.
      Gk was all I skated when I was young for about 8 years, when I started skating last year again I tried Indy's for the first time and also MiniLogo's and Thunders. Honestly, liked the MiniLogo's the best out of them. Then I found out GK had made the disruptors, so I tried them and they are still the best truck IMO. Really stocked to get my set of lockers. All personal preference tho.

    Your crooks may have been off, not only because the trucks have the premade grooves, but also because you moved your front truck back (so it’s in a different position than the previous set of trucks) and possibly because the trucks are too tight to allow the pinch.

    Dont use that hardware unless you enjoy stress cracks all around your mounting holes. That type of fastener increases the risk of nose and tail snapadge. When you crank those down the flared part promotes cracking! I personally wouldnt use a bolt like that unless you welcome problems.

    I'm hoping these ones are much more refined then the disruptors as I was a little disappointed with those. I used to ride grind king when I was young young like first starting skating and then a couple years after that then I got some indys, but in hind sight they were pretty bad ass trucks. Not necessarily the best at anything but I do remember them being just fine for anything and the thing I really remember is they seemed to be a one and done truck as in they lasted a long ass time even abused by snot noses kids leaving their boards out in the rain n shit but they were like the ak47 of skateboard trucks could burry em for years dig em up throw em on a board and skate just fine. it seems like grind king has two types of camps: one side is all complete haters hating just to hate (probably hate themselves) then there are those who ride the nostalgia wave which I admit I am in the second camp. While never a fan boy of gk back in the day I had my fair share of the OG trucks even had some with the flame baseplate so you know I was willing to support a company if i rocked a product like that lol. So just to be clear I am not like 90% of slap forum users who just have toxic negativity and hatred ooozing out my pores. No I gave them a chance and kept and open mind and if anything I was bias TOWARDS gk as in I really wanted them to be great trucks hell I even ordered the not so cheap gk "90s.beanie" so I was really rooting for the king man. As context just like every single person commenting on anything skateboard related on the internet or social media: I am in my 30s and just recently started skating again for the 5th or so time. While I'm nowhere near as good as I was at 17 I'm not the worst ever. Mainly keep the board and myself close to the ground (curbs, pads, ledges, parks etc.) and I somehow destroyed the baseplate on one wiere the female threads for the kingpin go making the entire truck (or set for that matter) completely useless i wish itnwouod have been the actusk king pim snapping as thats an easy.fix. anyways my point being now im very skeptical to try again. Also I didn't really care for the misleading "Venice" stamp on the bottom of trucks implying USA production which I think it's fairly safe to say gk hasn't made a truck in the states since kreeper was making trucks 😂 I get that he is based out of Venice but there is no other context just simply the name Venice which I personally think is intentionally vague specifically for that purpose ..

Flat will always win because there are tons of different types of rails and ledges and grinds that require a flat shape. The last thing you want to be thinking about is slipping your trucks along those grooves while doing big scary grinds.

I see a good point you mentioned about these because these won't let you lock up against the wheel and rotate the body off of it. If you were to go too hard, it would shift unexpectedly. They should have honestly just done what minilogi did and make the hanger fatter in the middle. I guess they are still good to make adjustments, though
