Hi Steve
Hope you are doing well. It's been scorching, and the extreme weather makes me exhausted (POOPED), but I can't complain. You can't trust British weather; it's so changeable. We just had our house redone, including some light bulb changes. After two days, one of the light bulbs on the wall started flickering, and it's been ON THE BLINK ever since. All I can blame is the cowboy builders. It COST AN ARM AND A LEG, and we had to go through all the hassle and bustle. It makes me so cross, and chasing them makes me exhausted POOPED).
I m goning to take out some of foldy chairs in the garden and have a relaxing afternoon.
How about you, Steve? do you have any plans for the weekend?
Thank you ever so much and wish your a blessing weekend. .
Hi Sophie, thanks for the update on what’s going on in your life. You are correct the weather is sweltering at the moment and so the answer to your question what am I up to is simply ‘not much’ 🤷♂️.
But tomorrow I will be talking to my students who are all over the world so that’s always good.
Your use of British phrases was smashing but use ‘hassle’ (which means difficult and troublesome) on its own ie “Getting a new passport was a hassle” However ‘bustle’ which means hurried or busy is commonly used with the word ‘hustle’ which means to take action quickly. But together they mean a lot of activity, for example “ We went on holiday to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city”.
As always great to hear from you Steve
@@SoundBritish Thanks a lot for yout brilliant feedback. it means a lot to me. I am looking forward to your next lesson xx
Hi Steve, I am back again from the weekend watching your conversation with your friend that's amazing try to be slower when you post another new video's so that I can understand thanks.
Well done Hillary. In the videos everyone is speaking a little slower than normal speed and it's important to your development that your ears get trained to understand at this speed. TH-cam has a video speed adjustment you can use to make it slower but it will definitely improve your English listening skills to go through at the normal speed and if you don't understand it all go back and listen again. It wont take long until you are asking me to speak faster 😂All the best - Steve
@SoundBritish thanks Steve, that's what I have just started doing it repeatedly n I can see it coming
Just keep pushing yourself to learn by listening to faster speech. I promise suddenly you will find it easy.
@SoundBritish great, I have noticed that learning slower will take too long to understand thanks.
Thank you so much my beast teacher
I’m chuffed you liked it and smashing to hear from you Krus

Oh I thought that Bob was your uncle 😂 In my country, we say it costs "the skin of the butt" when something is pricey as well 😅 brill video ! cheers
Fred, ‘Bob’s your uncle’ is the equivalent of the French ‘voila’ So you might hear when asking for directions “ You need to turn left , then take the second street on the right and Bob’s you uncle there it is”. We also use ‘skin of the butt’ but for when you have only just succeeded for example “I got into university by the skin of my butt” Good to hear from you mate
I was trying to make a reference between the expression Bob’s your uncle and the fact that your friend mentionned that Bob, the travel agent, look a lot like you Steve, so maybe a family relative but well, language misunderstanding lol
Brilliant, I apologise I did misunderstand. Nice one mate 👍
No worries mate ! I can understand that, from when you filmed the scene and the time I commented, you've forgotten there was a Bob on the vid...much has happened since then. And I suppose I could have made it more evident 👍😉
Plus of course I am very old ☹️
Used to appreciate much your videos when less than 10 minutes long.
Thanks for the comment Ellix , I try to vary the videos some long v short. The next one should be under 10 minutes. But I do split even the long videos into 3 parts for example this one , you could watch the first few minutes to practice your listening skills ie the story,; another time watch the vocabulary builder part which is about 6 minutes and then another time do speaking practice by watching the mirroring at the end. Again thanks for commenting Steve
