Well done fella - couldn’t have been easy leaving your mate and getting on the bike for 10 hours. Looking forward to seeing how the rest of the trip worked out.
I feel the same way about my 2016 900 Street Twin, which has the same engine as yours. I did 900 miles in 4 days round the Ardennes and it was perfect. I was glad I fitted a 4-pot Brembo front brake on some of the descents though.
2004 fourteen SVs set off for the South of France to a place called Besacon. Of course then, the bikes were all 2 or 3 years old. We had a wail of a time, the bikes performed impeccable, only one minor crash, and we had a brilliant time. On the way back we left Besacon for Dover in one hit, over on the ferry, then straight on to Portishead back to one chaps house. 455 miles to Dover, the 203 miles to Portishead. The next morning I didn’t want to ride the 118 miles back to Plymouth I can tell you. Great fun though.
I’m blinking amazed the SV gave you trouble, I’m on my 3rd one now, none of them have given me one issue. Mind you at least it’s a Suzuki, if you were using my other bike a Moto Guzzi he would be waiting for parts next summer
Thank you for the comment. At the time, it was a Sunday morning in the middle of nowhere in France and the only thing we could get from the one open shop was RAD. As we were so stuck and the bike wouldn't ride at all, it was worth the risk to try and get us further to the garage without costing £££! Part 2 in two weeks will explain what happens next ;)
@@janSlon-nw1kr yes I thought the same! It worked well for the majority of the trip however panniers would be a great investment for the next one! My dad used to ride and he gave me the idea of bungee cord (and the bungee itself!)
Sv are probably one of Suzuki s worsed bikes tho I have no experience of the later models . Did you not have European breakdown cover . If not lesson learned
@@lweleven3423 surprising that you say this as the general consensus I hear is that the SVs are solid bikes! The issue we had with this bike could of happened to any, with a stone flicking up and breaking the radiator. We had Breakdown Cover for my Triumph but there was a mix up for the SV. All sorted though. Stay tuned for Part 2 next to see what happened!
Great update. Looking forward to part 2

It’s not a good idea to put rad seal in motor cycles due to very small passages inside the motor getting clogged up
