    The numbers are just part of the story. Every time someone brings up LeBron in the finals I’ll think of Jason Terry launching in the face of a much taller LeBron. No fear. Just nylon. String. 3.

    The funny thing is that LeBron is one of the greatest players ever and if he was happy to be that and never tried to change the narrative for him to become the GOAT, there'd be far more appreciation of him by "old-timers". However, once he claimed he was the GOAT after being the Warriors in 2016, he opened the door to criticism himself and then he remained on that path. It's a history lesson for people - be grateful for what you're given and don't try to claim to be something you're not otherwise you'll fall in the eyes of the truth...eventually.

    • @labynoe
      @labynoe 16 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      If LeBron had kept his mouth shut, he definitely wouldn't have gotten anywhere close to the backlash he gets. However, a lot of us "Old Timers" will ALWAYS see LeBron's constant carrying, traveling, offensive fouling, and frequently turning over the ball as BAD basketball, and we will ALWAYS believe that good shooting matters, that good footwork on offense and defense matters, that AT A MINIMUM always hustling on defense matters, and that coming up big in "clutch" situations matters. As LeBron is lacking in all these areas, a lot of us will NEVER view LeBron as "one of the greatest players ever". His fundamentals are poor and his skill set is basically limited to being "Big and Athletic".
      Now yes, us "Old Timers" probably don't pick apart LeBron's rings and accolades nearly as much if he never calls himself the GOAT. But a lot of us will NEVER consider LeBron even a top 50 player in NBA history because his games fails the "Eye Test". There have been a lot players who play basketball better than LeBron while NOT being given the benefit of having defense eliminated from the game and refs forgetting the basic rules of basketball while officiating them. Nobody from my generation is saying "A SPECTACULAR MOVE" when we see LeBron travel and carry as he does his usual "Barge and Charge" to the basket. There's nothing "great" about that, IMO.

    • @NewNormalWorldOrder

      If LeBozo had Tim Duncan’s personality then he’d probably have more rings, the rings would actually be legit, and no one would hate him. And he’d actually be in the “GOAT”/“top 5 ever” conversation

      @labynoe lol I'm 32 and it's not even close imo. Mj is just levels above everyone else in this sport. I literally had a debate with this kid last night all he can do is throw out longevity stats I brought up numerous instances and shortcomings, also to mention this person had the nerve to say that curry is in some people's top 5 all time lol never heard that one that was a first. But in all lebron fans can't win a debate his high turnovers should be more if the officials were actually competent and called the game correctly. They really try to diminish the 90s like they weren't athletic or no 40 inch verts argument which is just stupid, mugsy had a 44 inch vert and he is the shortest player to ever play

    • @labynoe
      @labynoe 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @ just compare the physiques of David Robinson, Hakeem Olajuwon, and Alonzo Mourning to Nikola Jokic, Victor Wembanyama, and Rudy Gobert and then try to convince me today’s players are more athletic. Or Michael Jordan to Luka Doncic. Scottie Pippen to James Harden. Karl Malone to LeBron James. I think the average NBA player fitness level was WAY HIGHER in the 1990s than it is today. Probably because back then dudes were required to play hard on BOTH offense and defense.

    Manu Ginobilli also missed a free throw that could have sealed the game and the series. The Spurs still had about 5 seconds left in regulation and Bosh did foul Green on his corner 3 attempt but got away with it because of his superstar status I think another reason LeBron needs super teams.

    • @Christo_Trismegistus

      LeBron also had flagrant foul on Draymond Green in the 2016 finals that prompted Draymond to crash out and kick LeBron which led to to Draymond getting suspended. LeBron has always been a dirty player that gets away with murder, which is insane because for him to have only 4 titles with the referees and the NBA favoring him every single year truly shows how lackluster and how much of a playoff choker and loser he truly is

  • @alexlanza79
    @alexlanza79 16 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Great video as always; your analyses are truly insightful. I can’t imagine how much time you invest in this research, hours upon hours. Thank you for your dedication; it’s incredibly educational.
    Regarding the debate, it seems we’re still at a point where, if they win, it’s attributed to LeBron James’s IQ and leadership. If they lose, they say it’s a team effort and the blame falls on others!
    For MJ is the opposite , when Michael Jordan won titles, it a team effort and was credited to Scottie Pippen and Phil Jackson presence, when they lost vs Detroit or Boston in the 80s they say it’s it Jordan’s fault as he was not as good as a leader.
    I hope you will go on with your channel many many years trying to destroy this kind of narratives which are actually the main reason why people like you started TH-cam channels cause you are tired of this double standards which are completely unfair and lack so much context that is unbelievable!

    I've had this thought for a while. Now, Im a huge Larry Bird fan, I enjoy watching videos of other players talk about him and how he used to get in peoples heads, how intelligent he was on the court, and I'll tell ya, I think LeQuit was secretly trying to embody Bird more so than MJ. After the recent Paris Olympics when LeQuit was on his way to flaunt his ego in an upscale Parisian restaurant, some young kid came up to him and wanted to congratulate him, what does he say to his young fan "dont do that, dont do that", what was one of Larry's quotes when trash talking on court? "dont do that, dont do that". ESPN crowned lequeen as a basketball savant, well, NBC reporters were calling Bird the basketball savant. Bird was an amazing passer for a guy his size, and whats the main operating principle for lequit not taking the last second shot? he's a pass first guy. The stories go on and on. But they chose MJ as the victim cause MJ was more marketbale and flashy, Bird didnt fit the bill, plus comparing him to Bird wouldn't get a rise out of people like it does with MJ. They KNOW MJ is leaps and bounds above lequit.
    Anyway, thats my thoughts on that, great video, you're very passionate about your meticulous research for your videos. You're a calm version of Angry Old Hoops Fan, if you dont know who he is, well, he does a discussion panel with MJFB on sundays.

      @MadDogBam actually the pace favors the Lakers in the 60s and were still somehow more competitive on a point per game basis, missing Baylor in 1 of the Finals and a 33 win team without West in the other against the biggest juggernaut the NBA has ever seen. Thats the context. And Boston was the #1 rated defense in every Finals except 1968 when they were 2nd. And 1970 Knicks were also #1 defense

      Yea Isley's long 3 should have been counted because he hit it before the buzzer. But it just is what it is. That still doesn't take away from the fact that had MJ not stolen the ball from Malone and hit that game winner, Jazz still win and force a Game 7......where they probably would have won the whole series because Pippen was done physically with his back, Rodman was a constant issue and MJ was fried.

      In the LeBron vs Jordan I always think
      Of “how many finals MVP trophies went to the dude that specifically shut down LeBron”
      One went to a not quite peak Kawhi. One went to a just a bit past their peak Iggy. Neither was wow in those specific series. Iggy may make the HOF just because of that, otherwise he’s just a very good journeyman 3rd option.
      Jordan went to 6 finals. Could you imagine if 1/3 of his trips were “watching the dude shutting him down smile with hardware in his hand”. LeBron having that for 20% of his finals appearances?
