I saw your Vegamour ad Sunday night. The first ad set in an online movie. I'm waving at the TV, "Look, it's Shea!' And then I had to explain who you are to my husband. He replied with a nonchalant "...Cool."

For the benefit of any women who are dealing with the devastation of hair loss either due to menopause, stress, Alopecia may I offer some advice? I deal with all three and lost 3/4 of my hair and it ruined my life: I didn’t go out for YEARS without a woolly hat (even in summer) and dreaded the day I would have to go down the wig route ….. 2018 was that time, and I bought a cheap wig from China - and my Goodness, the effect it had on me was nothing short of a miracle! Not only is my confidence and sparkle back, women ask me nearly every week who does my hair!! So please don’t waste years of your life like I did: we don’t all have gorgeous hair like the lovely Shea but if you get the right wig and wear it with confidence, no-one will ever know. xx

      Jon Renau wigs are amazing!
I too was terrified of my alopecia getting to the point of needing a wig. It took me a while to find the right one but really worth the effort.
If you have some hair, you can buy little clips to sew into the wig so it attaches to your head reducing the fear of it moving or falling off.
I apparently have a large head so I need a large sized wig which is unusual. My first Jon Renau wig looked a little small and more artificial. I went up to the large size and it made such a positive difference!
I also had the hairdresser who sold me the wig slightly trim the front to soften it.
In Australia, we have a company called, 'Wigs on Wheels'. The hairdresser will come to your home in their regular car, (no advertising), with a whole lot of wigs for you to try and the catalogue. They order it for you and help you adjust it to your head and face once it arrives.
I went from feeling physically ill at the thought of starting to wear a wig or going out without a hat to now putting my wig on and smiling each day.

Thanks for all the great tips, Shea! I’d like to confirm that not sleeping on your side is very anti aging. I’m 73. Three years ago, I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. I tried the CPAP machine, but could not handle it. I was desperate. I bought a fancy recliner, and have been sleeping in a sitting up position ever since. I only recline to about 100 degrees. Granted, it took awhile but I noticed that the left side of my face didn’t look so flattened out. The swelling of my eyes (a problem since birth) was greatly improved. No more sleep wrinkles on my face that lasted all day. Now at three years later, both sides of my face are equally plump and the only wrinkles I have are two across my forehead (there since my late teens) nearly invisible “11” lines, and nasal-labial lines that I’ve had since my early 20s. Now this is amazing… I have NO wrinkles around my eyes - not a one! I’m 73! I’m sure that having swollen eyes most of my life helped with eye wrinkles…but, still.

Thank you for the advice! I wanted to jump in as a former professional dancer who ended up with traction alopecia from pulling their hair back tight every day, that wearing those high, extremely tight ponytails that pull your face up like that really shouldn't be an every day thing. It can cause a lot of damage and breakage.

I had my first micro needling last Friday after my shift and oh my the results I am very impressed. My technician recommended not to wash, sweat or get wet for 48 hours . I was a bit stingy on my upper lip and tight when the numbing cream wore off . My face was reddened in areas , I had slight peeling on Sunday/ Monday but the results I am so happy with . My session was in the $350 🇨🇦 range and I will do it again . I already see better texture, fresher looking skin . I live in the Interior of BC and had mine done in Vernon BC .

Great tips! I've been sleeping on my back since I was pretty much born and I'm 45 now, no wrinkles on my face except my laugh lines. If I ever nap on my side my face is all smashed in lol. I have a pillow from my chiropractor that is for my neck and helps to keep me from shifting too much in the night. Staying hydrated and drinking water is paramount for good skin. Not smoking and no alcohol also does wonders. Your face will dry out less when you work to hydrate it. Retinols and vitamin C were recommended by a fabulous plastic surgeon once so I take that to heart and do that daily. I have had no plastic surgery and have no interest in doing so. No judgment on anyone if they do.
Don't ever feel pressured to use botox. It has been in use for decades so the studies are out there. My sister in law gets it via prescription for her massive headaches. Her life has gotten so much better since then. I started going about twice a year to help my forehead muscles keep from spazzing out. It was very distuptuve in my life. I don't take ibuprofen anymore for the tension and over the last. 2 years the need to do anything, including botox, has decreased because the muscle has relaxed. For me anyway.

I took awhile to even consider that is was possible to sleep on your back….then vanity got the best of me and I made a conscious effort to try it…I bought a 7inch wedge for my head, put pillows around my sides, and one under my knees…it worked…at least for most of the night…u kind of build yourself a fort of pillows that takes an effort to get out of…and voila…most of the night has passed on your back…it is not perfect every night I would guess I get at least 60-70 % of the night on my back…hope that helps some of you!

  • @ysl1good576
    @ysl1good576 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I started sleeping on my back several years ago for that very reason & it wasn’t easy. I started out with a wedge pillow which makes it more difficult to sleep on your side. It worked wonders! I can sleep on my back now with no problem, but I still love to use my wedge pillow every now and then!

Had my second micro needling RF session last week. Get comments about glowing skin, smoother texture, etc. within a week. Beautician asked what I had done a week after first session as improvement was so noticeable. Can’t wait to see how my skin is in a couple of months when full effect is reached. Hopefully my skin will be tighter & my cystic acne scars will be diminished too. Recovery is quicker too - red, rashiness to begin but almost no evidence 24hrs later. Then a few days of roughness from day 2/3 which you can exfoliate away from day 4/5.

Sleeping on your back not only helps with the wrinkles on your face. If you are a little bit busty and sleep on your side or stomach, you may be getting lines on your chest! Sleeping on your back (and also moisturizing) will help undo that!

Great video as always Shea, I totally agree with you about wearing lighter clothing and pretty florals to make you look and feel younger, I’m 63 years young and hardly have any dark colours in my wardrobe and when I wear a pretty dress, I’m always getting so many compliments, I’m also so happy to know that you went in office to have your micro needling done by a professional, I’ve seen so many women that have damaged their skin by doing at home micro needling, leave it to the professionals that are trained in that or any other procedure, next they’ll be bringing out Botox At Home 😩😩🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️, some things are Best to Leave alone for At Home…. I’m wondering if that brand of shampoo is available to ship internationally, I’d love to try it. Always Love your content. Cheers from Queensland Australia 🇦🇺💖💖

I have to say that I’ve noticed that women wearing their hair back (esp with all bangs pulled back too) makes us look much older. I keep seeing it in so many women. It depends on the age, but it shows sunken in temples, the gray hairs, etc. I actually think wearing your hair down makes you look younger. Also adding bangs as you age helps to look more youthful

I have a question about the new Vegamour product. I use the four step Gro+. With this new product, does it replaced that? And will I get the same new hair growth with the hydrating product? Thanks for the great i videos with such good information.

Sleeping on my back was sorta decided for me by my back & hip problems, and I get complimented for how few wrinkles I have. It's hard to determine if that's really it, as I always stay out of the sun or wear super sunscreen like a nut when out. I don't know, but I'll be 60 this June, and my grey that I chase with color and my dark circles (that appeared when I was diagnosed with lupus - are any other lupus sufferers having this - dark circles under your eyes like bruises) are the big things that signal my age the most. So yea, I've really looked into how to sleep for overall orthopedic benefit, and it's also back sleeping.

Have you had your ferritin levels checked for anemia and or iron deficiency. Your ferritin and iron saturation are key not hemoglobin and hematacrit it can be missed by just checking those. And since you have lupus you are more likely to develop anemia or iron deficiency. Anyways that can cause horrible dark circles and thinking and aging of hair, dry brittle and grey hair amongst many other thing like fatigue, shortness of breath etc

People with melasma should not use divises that produce heat. It worsens the dark spot.

I will share my own experience with microneedling with radiofrecuency. It has left me with many scars, was too aggressive for my skin. I have more sensitive skin. The energy settings were like too high and the person didn't have a proper technique... The way it worked at this clinic is the dermatologist did the initial consultation but the nurse actually performed the procedure. So, the competency of the person behind the device is actually more important than the device itself (see Davin Lim's advice). Also, all skins are NOT created equal. All that to say, please be careful!

This was one of your best videos. I’m going to try the micro needle with RF and cosmetic acupuncture. Ty ty ty Shea oh and I’m getting the shampoo and conditioner. I’m way way older then you…. In a few months I’ll be 70. But, I’m religious about taking care of my face and body. I have you and a couple other favorites on utube to thank you. Keep um coming honey.❤
