- hello, in this video I'll show you step by step how to build a innovative coffee maker.
I am Italian and I immensely love the good taste of espresso coffee.
Today it is a recycle of an old motorcycle and a gun to build in a coffee machine.
it works thanks to the pressure of a lever
the boiling water passes through the coffee powder.
you can push more times the coffe or the water to get a soft or strong taste.

I love this so much, absolutely beautiful! Reminds me of a strietman wall mounted espresso maker. Yet the ingenuity and importance placed on repurposing materiels reminds me of kees van der westen`s original machines which he crafted with reused parts. A wonderfully executed concept

What causes that?
The editor Adobe Premiere displays this message when it cant find a specific clip. The clip could have been renamed, or moved, etc. It could have been something as simple as the clip still on the memory card, and everything would have been good, but he could have removed the memory card before rendering, resulting in "media offline"... basically any number of ways that it can happen, and Premiere will try to notify you of offline clips, but it doesn't always. Add that to the fact that you watch your own video a few dozen times while making it, once it's finally done, you sometimes just want to export, upload and move on the the next. ;)
If you add gasoline you no longer need to pump the espresso machine by hand.

I love the old engine cylinder as a coffee machine looks soo good very industrial loooking.
The design is really cool! The only problem is that the engine piece probably works as a heatsink, so i think that water is not infusing coffee at the right temperature

I'm not even that keen on Coffee and not sure if I'd wanna drink from this or old Light Bulbs, but I love these re-purpose projects, they don't even make a dent in the amount of waste this world produces but the attitude and inspiration spreads and continues like a giant wave. this is great and it looks awesome, just as entertaining to watch as King of Random, Colin Furze, Make it Extreme and Roman Ursuhack who I also like to watch :-)

As it has been said as a concept and project this is cool. And well done, but if the aim was espresso than there needs to be pressurization from the water to the grounds. Around 9 bar (9x atmosphereic pressure at sea level)
Also the grounds would need to be properly tamped in addition to help with the pressure and formation of crema.
But if your into just any cup of coffee this will do fine.

dude seriously? He made a coffee machine from a freaking bike motor who cares how many bars this thing is it's awesome! La Pavonis use way under 9 bars and it's still an amazing cup. Moka pots and aeropresses also are way less than 9 bar but still amazing. Is it "authentic espresso"? Maybe not, but you know what rules are meant to be broken and the scaa can shove it lol.
You can easily make 9 bars of pressure with this machine, the only 2 real problems i see with it are first that the engine is like a large heatsink, so water would be colder than expected, and the second but most important one is that he is not using a gasket on the bayonet lock between the portafilter and the grouphead so water is geting spilled every where and in consecuence pressure is lost. But with a lever you can easily make 9 bars of pressure, if you want i can do the math for you but trust me that it is entirly posible :)

If I may offer some suggestions for a future build: it is probably a bad idea to use a heat sink for you water reservoir, as you want to extract using hot water between 92-96°c. This engine part, with fins, is designed to draw heat away, precisely what you don't want. So next time, you might want to use a smooth cylinder. Also, I wouldn't recommend running 2 shots off of a single puck.. I can imagine, the second shot would be extremely bitter.

A hydraulic jack might work well, and those are easy to find an cheap, particularly used ones. The advantage with a jack is the outer shell can be filled with hot water so the equipment does not cool down the shot so much. Maybe even better? A stove-top pressure cooker (available for $10- $20 at thrift shops) modified with a tube that goes into the water and a valve. When the pressure in the pot reaches, say, 20 bar, open the valve, which is attached to s standard brew-group (i.e. 1:06). That should shoot the boiled water through the brew-group at about the right pressure/temperature.

zapro_dk the cylinder is lined with cast iron, cold rusty coffee.
colin edley cylinders are made from aluminum not iron
psaris7 most of the time it's made out of cast iron. Sometimes it's made out of the same material as the engine block (Aluminum silicon alloy)
But you can clearly see the difference between the materials, so it's most likely out of cast iron or iron
psaris7 the fins are aluminium, the liner of the cylinder is cast iron. It actually says so during the video when he has it in the lathe.

The issue is that the water temperature drops way too much to get a descent espresso, because the parts distract and dissipate most of the heat in the process. You should try to submerge the whole gadget into a tank full of hot (92 °C) water. Or this will never be more than the handyman's coffee. Cool. Literally. And sour too.

Keep in mind silicone may only be nontoxic at room temperature. If it's heated with hot water idk if that's non toxic.

True. Espresso is important in international culture. Each culture has something like coffee or espresso but with different meanings and ways to make it.
@@costet534 he didn't tamp it, he didn't warm up the brew head firs, and should use ruber o ring to seal piston tightly against cylinder.
Seriously, no pressure gauge to make sure he's at 9 bars. That seal isn't great for the piston. The thermal mass of that that engine block plus a literal heatsink can't be good for temp control. Also he didn't tamp it or declump it, but that's not on the machine.

Why not use a similar principle but put a valve in so you can pressurize it first? That is a neat idea but coffee looks terrible.
I think it's a nice idea... but i wouldn't drink that.... no crema, there is major leaking on the top... no pressure gauge... the coffee runs through to fast etc. and the bottom tray has no function at all it's just esthetic
we also don't know how fresh his coffee is. pre-ground coffee is awful for espresso brewing

maybe, you have to add o ring rubber silicon on the piston,, so it can be pump down the water without any leaking up,, when you press the water, make sure that the pressure produce 3-5 bar, and make sure there's no leaking, so lock it with silicon rubber,, but, where did you get the portafilter lock/group head? did you made itself? so hard to find it bro,,

Is not french press... the grounds are tamped, and yes, water is under a lot of pressure, like in any other open boiler machine, check Strietman CT-1 for example.
