Watching him have fun with the stapler makes me 1) not miss being a framer and 2) not miss using hitatchi in the winter. Of course dewalt nailer is just as bad. Bloody winter time! We always used 2 3/8" nails on the roof and the floor, That way we didn't have to have a separate gun just to do sheeting only different length nails.

Staples ain't cheap other than they cost less than nails. One thing I don't agree with is pallet nailing subfloors.... Dog Shit Builders LLC floor squeak guarantee is what I say... use screws.

Apparently the dancing prowess of those guys was equivalent to their logging skills and many folk songs were written about them in that regard. Someone needs to write a similar song about the crazy framer.
They outlawed use of staple guns on decking and shingles here in the Southeast USA decades ago. Were only allowed to use full head ring shank nails on decking. Hurricane zone requirements!

I've been framing for 18 years now in Edmonton ab. Guys get too comfortable then get hurt. Ive seen guys do dumb shit. Set a 2 ply lvl beam into place put 2 toe nails on one side then walk across it to nail the other side...... yea it didnt go as planned. Buddy fell when the beam let go. Nice hole in the first floor too.

You should set the depth for your saw based on the width of your sheets, insures that your only cutting what you need to and not putting slices in the trusses
How well does your air nailer work in the cold? When I was a tech at Goodyear we had a couple of impacts we used outside to remove tires for repair. In the winter if one was forgotten outside along with the hose, the whole thing would ice up and stop working. We had to leave the tools and hoses inside and take them out just long enough to pull a tire or check air.
Ground man should of ripped that ridge panel !! Measure and set the sheet , nail ! On one of my crews that's always the procedure ! Good luck with your projects .
I’m just learning about how to sheet a roof I’ve been a cut guy for 3 years and then the last year I’ve worked I’ve framed in joists more and helped nail rafters and hang fascia and all that. I’ve sheeted a 6/12 three times and I’ve sheeted a 9/12 backface of a house and a 9/12 valley in front face. Oddly enough I find pulling numbers harder than pulling up the sheet lol. Maybe one day can u do a detailed video for pulling numbers for hips and valley sheets

So you don't have to cut the top sheets on that gable, measure down 8ft from the top for your chalk line. You're going to be cutting the bottom piece anyway, save yourself a few rips 😉

I stupidly wrote the question before video was finished so my bad However , that being said ( in Pennsylvania at least ) we always use ridge vent because our inspectors argue those little squares don't vent enough for a roif that size. Also you can drill 1 1/2 holes along the length of the roof hips then install a foam low profile vent then you put caps over it. I personally dont like that method. But I digress. My question is hereby withdrawn
Saw the speed square fall. Nope. Not ever doing that. If the roof is higher than 12 feet with a pitch steeper than 4/12 I am hiring people. Since the home I am building alone is a 3 story with a gambrel roof, I will not be doing the roof sheeting.
Roping up is unsafe. More ropes on the roof is a trip hazard. The only time I've ever fallen down a plane is from tripping up in the ropes.... only reason we install rings and ropes ad strap up is to avoid getting fines.
You make it look so easy ha last week I was sheeting a 10 pitch roof without a harness & I was shitting bricks grabbing on what ever I could every move I made 🤣
im sure u know this !! but if u sheet under under your v trusses then u dont have to valley block and also u dont have to cut the valley angle twice, aka both sides of the valley ! save yea alot of cuts and measurements . just trow down a few full sheets , frame your gable ridge right on-top of the sheeting :)

I do roofing in the northern part of Michigan and 12/12's are super common and frankly are not that bad to sheat,

You could try using some winter grade pneumatic gun oil for that stapler it worked for our staple guns when they did the same thing last winter.

anything not steel toed. with soft rubber at the base so when colder temps happen it does not freeze the rubber and lose traction

Thats how we do it in midwest lol. Uses a few extra sheets but plenty of osb out there hahah.
