You commenters crack me up. I made this video and posted it to simply show some "out of town" family my new toy. I never would have thought that I would get over 11,000 views and multiple comments on it. The truck runs 10.50's in the 1/4 mile. When I shot the video I had just started the truck for the fist time in a couple weeks. It was so loaded up it would barely idle. I'm surprised it didn't stall when I floored it. I wish I knew, but i bought the truck like it was and sold it 4 years ago and never tore into it. I just did a 350 tbi setup and am still tinkering with the tune. The truck in this video had around 500-550hp so I think that would be too much cam for a bored out 454 tbi unit. Seems like 400hp is about the most you can get from a tbi setup. I bored my 350 unit out to 46mm and my setup is running around 320hp with stock injectors and 22psi fuel pressure. My motor is a vortec 350 crate motor from the 96-2000 trucks.
@bby6128 the guy I bought it from said 13:1, but I think exaggerated a little bit. Probably more like 12:1. In the video it had exhaust with mufflers but now I run open headers. It can breath now.....it has a 3500 stall converter on a TH-400 not a 350 like the description says.
Mines still sitting in the barn all stock and rusted I'm slowly working on getting it running right now. I got the truck for free from some friends of my parents. A quick question for you guys. I have a 4 barrel carb on my 350 and its leaking alot of gas out of the throttle linkage any suggestions why this may be?
Slow down there "Turbo". I didn't post this video just to lie about it. You can believe me or not, but in this video the truck has 3" exhaust and Borla mufflers with turn downs just in front of the axle. Maybe I'll post an open header video to prove it. I don't blow smoke out my mouth or my tires. I'd rather be hooked up and down the track than blowin smoke on the start line.
Did you ever end up taking it to the track? I'm curious what it ran with that heavy mother of a motor. I have a 454 sitting in my shop that I've been wanting to drop in my 84'
Although it does have a TH400 unlike I thought when I posted the video, TH350's can be built very strong up to 800HP. Coan Engineering builds one that is stronger than most 400's and is lighter.
i was all ready to comment about the th350 behind a motor like that would be good for about a month...lol...even the th400 could break with all that power...im more of a ford guy nowadays but thats an awesome truck
@threetwentynine That would be bad gaskets inside the Carb, I had the same problem in my 70' Cougar XR-7 until I bought a carb rebuild kit at Advance Auto Parts for like $8 and it fixed all the leaks my stock carb had.
@threetwentynine Yeah like I used to hate how bad it leaked until a friend and myself rebuilt the carb and after that the car ran a lot better and started up easier too.So I would do that first , which it should cure the problem and let me know the results after you rebuild it.
that truck should have a turbo 400 trans or a 700r with a 468 motor not a weak ass turbo 350 Think an don't cut corners or it will hurt you on the track which is the streets

Just put a 454 in my 69c10. Even if it doesn't run good times it sure guaranteed to feel nice to the foot on the streets

Frisby probably around 4-8mpg. I think on the best day down hill with a tail wind around 12. Dad has a 454 and 468 they are thirsty
