John my man, you're an A player. Just fantastic at what you do. I started playing chess about a month ago and my first game was with my dad. He beat me in about 10 moves. I wanted to get better and initially it was only to defeat my dad, so I looked up youtube to find some instructional videos and came across your series of chess fundamentals. I literally left everything else for two weeks and practiced and I DEFEATED MY DAD and it was the best feeling in the world. But it hasn't stopped there. I realised I'm in love with this game and it's all because of how it was introduced and taught to me by you. The way a subject is introduced to the student makes a telling effect on how he will perceive/approach it. And for that I cannot thank you enough. I am officially in the list of your fan club now, John. Great work and all the best! PS - am a football commentator and I am also very impressed by your communication skills 😃
John is great I have been watching him for about 2 years now and have learned so much went from an 800 player to a 1400 player so far. Planning on continuing my goal is 1800 by the end of this year we shall see how that goes lol.
Man, thank you for your amazing comment and kind words! Really happy to hear you've got off on the right foot in the game (congrats on defeating your father!). Appreciate you - best wishes for your chess improvement! 👍
@Sanjeev Eric is not equal. Eric Rosen is becoming more into fun and "click bait chess". I'm not a huge fan anymore.. I like John because it's more serious and pedagogical.

That KIA vs. the French is intriguing, but as the French can get crushed via conventional methods the KIA just isn't forcing enough. I like Yusupov's quote: "Why is it called KIA when there is no attack?" If it transposes into a closed Sicilian it might be good though. Play the wing gambit!

Does anyone know if the recent online chess boom is causing a rating inflation on chess.com? My peak rating is around 1400 in blitz a couple years ago but I had dropped back down to around 1200 and wasnt budging for the longest time. I took a break for a while and have come back and am pushing 1400 again within only a couple weeks of consistent playing. I doubt i'm simply playing better after such a long hiatus. Anyone else experiencing anything similar?
John got lucky at this game at 1:06:14 because his opponent missed the winning move with black queen to a1. Otherwise, he would have been checkmated quickly.
Sooo, i am not good at all, just having fun. Anyway, if white goes Qf3 it could be met by bishop to e4 forcing a trade of bishops. As white is already down a piece I dont think white wants to trade off its last best defender.
