- Mikhail Ivanovich Glinka (1 June [O.S. 20 May] 1804 - 15 February [O.S. 3 February] 1857) was the first Russian composer to gain wide recognition within his own country, and is often regarded as the fountainhead of Russian classical music. Glinka's compositions were an important influence on future Russian composers, notably the members of The Five, who took Glinka's lead and produced a distinctive Russian style of music.

@@santiagologioco7971 look out for the generally predictable meter, phrasing, progression of predictable points of modulations and the standard chords used to do this. The key of F minor is also predictably used for inducing a passing feeling of melancholy.
At 1:49 there is a predictable change to A flat. Moving to D major there instead could've been seen as less predictable?

Okay, that was totally irrelevant. But I am playing this piece, and this is really helpful for seeing how the melody switches from soprano to tenor. The opening was beautiful as well.

I can't tell whether this is F Minor tuned to 440, or F# Minor tuned to 430. I love it all the same, though; will need to learn more of Glinka, it looks like.

Bel notturno con intensa e sognante melodia romantica. La scrittura sembra però quella di uno Chopin che scriva in modo piu semplice, con una architettura meno studiata e raffinata.

Chan Hana -- So just play it IMPERFECTLY....and PROLONG your Life. At least THIS is an easy piece. I've been imperfectly playing Rakhmaninov's 2nd all my life...and have never been executed.

I think this is the same version on Imslp. Even though the audio appears to be different, many improvise though it makes it tougher to follow sometimes.

Though he is „only“ a child, for me, his interpretation has more soul than this one
When I heard this piece for the first time, it was the one played by that 8-year-old Daniil Trifonow. It sounded so beautiful and pure. I listened to it with tears in my eyes and many times.
After that, I tried to listen to the ones played by other pianists as well but to my surprise, it is always and only Daniil’s Nocturne that makes me cry. Thank you very much.

This might have been a pleasant little novelty, but the pianist plays it as though he is angry at being forced to do so. I found the performance inappropriately heavy, clumpy, mechanical - not a good sales pitch for the piece.

It honestly breaks my heart to sed people saying this is beautifully played.. I hate the way this is played, without any emotion in my opinion
Try to listen to it more times. Try catching the ritardando in the bass chords or the brighter parts, played with some irony, like evoking melancholy or nostalgia

Lovely piece but whoever is performing this is just slaying through it and ruining it.

And it's an old or cheap piano in a room with bad acoustics-at one point you can even hear the piano bech creaking. It's the perfect storm. :-(
