We are star dust, reaching out to the universe. The 15th Symphony of Science video featuring Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Richard Feynman and Lawrence Krauss. Materials used are from:

Special thanks to everybody who's donated to keep the project alive. Enjoy!
    Lyrics:
    [Neil deGrasse Tyson]
We are part of this universe
    We are in this universe
    The universe is in us
Yes, the universe is in us
    [Lawrence Krauss]
    Every atom in your body
Came from a star that exploded
    You are all star dust
    From a star that exploded
    [Tyson]
Look up at the night sky
    We are part of that
    The universe itself
    Exists within us
    We are star dust
    In the highest exalted way
    Called by the universe
    Reaching out to the universe
    We are star dust
    In the highest exalted way
    Reaching out to the universe
With these methods and tools of science
    [Richard Feynman]
Stand in the middle and enjoy everything both ways
    The tininess of us;
    The enormity of the universe
    [Tyson]
The atoms that make up the human body
    Are traceable to the crucibles
    That cooked light elements
    Into heavy elements
These stars went unstable in their later years
    And then exploded
    Scattering their enriched guts
    Across the galaxy
    [Refrain]
    [Tyson]
We are part of this universe
    We are in this universe
    The universe is in us
Yes, the universe is in us

Indeed. Think of it too, don't feel small when you think of the universe. Feel big, because you are apart of the universe. You came from it, you are the universe trying to understand itself and it's amazing

Hold onto that sense of wonder. Don't ever, ever let it go. You'll need it in the adult world. My delight at the wonders of this crazy universe is what keeps me going in a world that has only ever been dull and painful and disappointing.

Maybe, possibly if humans evolved from star dust that came from an exploding star and matter was scattered across and stars were formed coming from the energy from the supernova converted pushing atoms and particles into solar systems.

During my years of depression, these thoughts kept me alive. I was thrilled by being starstuff, connected to everything else, a temporary manifestation of matter in the uncomprehendingly vast universe, yet so unique. It gave my life meaning.
Only years later I became familiar with all these great science populators, saying my thoughts outloud.
I think it's a message all humans should be familiar with. It's humbling and thrilling

I love the story DeGrasse tells of when he was an aspiring student. He had opportunity to meet Sagan and was bowled over in amazement at Sagan's encouragement. What I love most is that DeGrasse has resolved to honor that generosity by mentoring others. Surely both men are filled with wonder and delight in what they learned. It shines from them like billions and billions of stars.

A little late in coming, but this was quite delightful to the ears. Very well produced to entertain, teach some fun facts and offer up a positive and refreshing vibe. We have yet to learn many truths and re-create new truths from theory. We are all born with open minds with infinite space. What and how much goes in is up to us and our power to rationalize, rely and appreciate. We breathe the world in, we observe and deduce, we explore and discover, we learn and share, then leave our existence on earth much more enlightened. What is beyond that is for the universe to decide.

The Serious Account I hope you don't mean a christian god. I do believe that the higher power is the universe, is it an intelligent being? No, does it control what happens to us after death? No. It operates by a set of mathematical rules. But it is where everything that exists comes from, where we live, what keeps us alive, what is inside of us.

I don't understand what this abdula abula bitch is saying. Reality : Every single atom within us was a result of BIG BANG. Now nobody gives a fuck if one believes in God or not, its all objective.but these atoms, the big bang, the universe, It all existed long before the concept of GOD was created. And if one doesn't believe in evolution, then they can go fuck themselves. Way to go mate ... well said :)

Kyder Dogd So, essentially what you're saying is that he HAD to use extremely disrespectful profanity in his statement, just so I would see things from his point of view. Why would I believe someone who feels compelled to say very inappropriate things and almost hurtful things to me with no justifiable reason? And besides why are you attempting to converse with me? This discussion is SO dead. I had almost forgotten that it even existed.

I believe in a creator. Many call him/her God. I believe that Science and Religion shouldn't be at odds with eachother.
We are gifted with self awareness, intelligence, and curiosity. It is inherent in us to try to understand everything around us, and we should try to find the answers of the universe.
I believe that a creator is evident, the more I learn, the more I can see the hand of the watchmaker.
The Big Bang was the spark that set everything into motion. To me, that doesn't mean that a creator doesn't exist.
Evolution to me could simply be stated as God's divine plan. Though there must be a missing piece of the puzzle since we're so different from all the other species.
We perceive things differently as we age, time itself seems to speed up. Steven Hawking proposed that God couldn't exist before the creation of the universe, since time itself didn't exist.
I dare say that a power capable of creating all that we know, and the natural laws that bind it, would be above those laws, even time. We know everything to have a beginning and an end, so it's impossible to fathom a power that could have always existed. A creator beyond what we can understand, not bound by time, and therefore eternal.
I'm rambling. In short. Believing in God isn't stupid. Believing in a book, wrote by men, at the cost of an open mind. That is a tragedy.

    • @Chibling
      @Chibling 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Evolution by definition is not guided. The environment that the organism lives in determines the value of its genes, which in turn affects which genes become more common which is evolution. In essence, no creator is required for this process at all. If God is not bound by time it would be impossible to impact us in any imaginable way.

    • @Chibling
      @Chibling 10 ปีที่แล้ว

Jim Davis In your opinion, when did you stop beating your wife? That is called a loaded question. You are presuming God's existence and assuming that it is either God or nothing. Sorry, if God can come from nothing so can the universe and that question is a worthless fallacy. Even if there is something that could be called a deity, it would certainly not be the slavery and genocide supporting God that ancient Jewish settlers invented as part of their cult.
