I heard a story that is supposed to be true about a scientist/doctor who was there working and he had a person brought in who was just barely alive and ended up dying a minute after getting to him, but his injuries were really bad, he was basically torn apart. No one would tell the Dr what did that to him, but he was very curious what was out there and kept asking questions, and investigating, until he was told he would be left out in the middle of nowhere and he would end up like that poor dead guy. So he stopped asking and decided to go explore, he didnt go very far until he saw a giant spider looking creature, and the guys who he was with were getting ready to kill the thing, but it got one of them in front of the Dr, so he saw this guy get torn limb from limb and half consumed by this giant spider thing. When they got back to the station, they were debriefed, and the Dr was informed those things are all over the continent and they are vicious, killing machines. The Dr never told anyone until he was on his death bed, he told his son and his son told the story to the guy who runs the channel. The son seems to think his dad was being very truthful and said he saw his dads face when he was telling the story and he was telling truth. I dont know what I believe but being Antarctica is so large and unexplored, there could literally be anything there, I wouldnt exclude it as false, I would give it a chance. Wonder what Brad would say about this.

Good point and in a grand solar minimum, as we have been, these geothermal events increase in prevalence and severity. Global cooling would be a greater concern especially if a pyroclastic eruption blocked the sun. If the planet was in the closer half for the north hemisphere of the elipse an ice age might result.

    Interesting.
Note: If the Arctic completely melted sea levels would go down. Test it yourself, fill a glass with ice, top up with water, see what happens when the ice melts!
If Antarctic melted sea levels would likely remain the same with all the costal ice, if they did rise it wouldn't be by much not to mention draining into the hole.

This would be true if all the ice in the arctic was completely submerged in water. For your next "interesting test" fill a glass with water then put a basketball sized scoop of shaved ice on top like a sno-cone, and see where the water goes.

For anyone reading this commenters asinine comments. Do a simple Google search "is Antarctica a land mass or pure ice". Clearly scientists believe it is a land mass covered in ice not just a floating ice cube in the ocean. Apparently he's worried about how many followers somebody has so I'm assuming he's getting his information from a TH-cam channel called "The Science" that has a couple hundred followers.

Will the Ice Melt and Overflow?
At first thought you might think that an ice cube sitting at the very top of a glass would eventually melt and spill over the sides but is this what really happens? Experiment and find out!
    What you'll need:
    A clear glass
    Warm water
    An ice cube
    Instructions:
Fill the glass to the top with warm water.
Gently lower in the ice cube, making sure you don’t bump the table or spill any water over the edge of the glass.
Watch the water level carefully as the ice cube melts, what happens?
    What's happening?
Even though the ice cube melted the water doesn’t overflow. When water freezes to make ice it expands and takes up more space than it does as liquid water (that’s why water pipes sometimes burst during cold winters). The water from the ice takes up less space than the ice itself. When the ice cube melts, the level of the water stays about the same.

  • @brada4018

When there's ice in a glass of water and as it melts does water rise in the glass. I don't think so!

    • @stevesims2243
      @stevesims2243 ปีที่แล้ว

It's because ice is less dense than water; water takes up less space. Also, white ice has a lot more air bubbles in it. There will also be a lot of absorption into water tables and along beaches, which serve as a buffer to rising tides. Fear is used as a negative form of hypnosis to implant highly dubious suggestions.

The Falkland Islands were and are British territories. The islands were invaded by the Argentinians in 1982, who laid claim to them and continue to do so. The Falklands are about 1,000 miles off the coast of Argentina. The residents of the island held a referendum a few years ago and overwhelmingly voted to remain British. No need for historians to scratch their heads. Just read a book or two. 😉
