- Two angels took part in the creation of Norman; Luke, a surgeon who planned the construction of his body, and Epta, an apprentice of God who made a world to raise his soul in. Epta, along with six other apprentices, had been gifted a fragment of God's soul in preparation for the possibility of taking his place. This fragment gave each apprentice a personal ability - Epta's of which was to create small, fake worlds and maintain them as though they themself were a god.
Due to God's dissatisfaction with his apprentices, he created the Father Project; an attempt at raising a soul in very specific conditions to produce the exact type of person God wanted for an apprentice, then putting said soul in a body made just for him (breaking real quick to clarify in this universe anatomy and psychology have direct but vaguely understood ties to each other). The apprentices were required to "donate" parts of their body to this project, Epta of which was to contribute their brain. Though their soul would take over their body's functionality, their thoughts and emotions would no longer be grounded in logic.
Despite the two being extremely close, Luke was never informed of where Epta was recovering post-surgery. He never saw them again. Taking this issue to God only resulted in the loss of his position as a surgeon and an order to remain silent about this whole ordeal.
God and his assistant, Charon, took over control of Norman's world and the construction of his body in place of Epta and Luke.
Luke, however, didn't plan on remaining passive.

Fun facts: Apostate solitaria is a monotypic moth genus, a type of moth(hence moth chained to his hand from Honey I'm Home and the whole insect theme). And an apostate is also someone who renounces religious beliefs, or betrays religious principles. And who's defying God here? These two.

What I'm getting from this- some things according to Honey I'm Home -Is this.
'Father' was created for the 'certain conditions' God wanted Norman to live in. Norman didn't like his father because of the conditions he was living in, so when God shows up, he "devours father'" as said in Honey I'm Home as a way to lure Norman into his religion. What I thought about Epta was that 'Mother' was the memory of Epta he had always had in the back of his head, because the brain was previously Epta's. The spider- Charon -was God's 'assistant.'

tbh the only flaw i can find here is that epta seems to be nonbinary, so "mother" may not be the right term for them (then again! nonbinary individuals can vary a lot in what terms they prefer, even when their pronouns may suggest otherwise, so like. yknow. gender is a fuck)

So this is the boss theme of an angel just recovering from a traumatic surgery where their ENTIRE BRAIN was removed, rendering him unable to think logically?
I can feel the madness and frantic loss of control in the wild chord progression and melody, the tempo changes, the off-key arpeggios, and the fractured "holiness" in the distorted choir stings and bells. t's a masterwork. Even without the explanation of the story you can hear the character shining through.

What if it was actually Epta's decision to isolate himself from Luke, that of course before the surgery, in order to protect his loved one from his new possibly twisted and out of control self? god can also have taken part in that, manipulating Epta into thinking that it would be best if they never saw each other again, and isolate himself from everything and everyone, leaving Luke oblivious of his choice and desperate to find him. it sounds friendly, but at the same time there's something terrible going on behind the friendliness
that is both a good description of this song and myself which is probably why i resonate with this so much
the story is particularly interesting too and has some impressive world building. the cliffhanger is really well used and effectively keeps the reader's interest in the characters and events piqued ^^
