Great stuff guys! This match alone, with no audio is making me see why Ric is considered one of the best of all time. I’m a massive Bret hart, Austin, million dollar fan among others but this match is tremendous and credit to both Ric and steam boat! What a pair of fantastic athletes!

Thanks Conrad, it's super entertaining to watch the match while Ric comments about a few stuff. I hope you guys will do many more watchalong, including the classic with Barry Windham at Battle of the Belts II in 86.

The best match I ever saw in 55 years was Flair vs Steamboat. I advise every young worker to watch it and learn. Another outstanding match Piper vs Valentine.

      What about Austin/Hart at Wrestlemania?

@@anthonycampos8057 Oh, there are plenty of good ones and Classics. I suppose it matters to styles. Jack Brisco & Dory Funk Jr. Another one Piper and Valentine.

My favorite is the one they had at the Superdome, Clash of the Champions 6 in April 89.

@@jonathanturbide2232 i think the whole trio of matches they had in 89 was pure gold. You dont get that from the Combat Gymnasts in AEW.

@@Crotchr0ckit Oh for sure, that Flair-Steamboat trilogy is unmatched. You can also add their 60 minutes classic at the Boogie jam in 84 and their underappreciated 1994 match at Spring Stampede, these two had the best chemistry of all time without a shadow of a doubt. 🐉💎👍🏻

@@jonathanturbide2232 , yeah for me that was the best of the trilogy. though the other 2 were good.
I remember that date April 2 1989 they had the match same day as the WrestleMania Hogan vs Savage " mega powers explode" match.

In 1998 Ric was having problems with WCW and came very very close to signing with WWE. He was actually in the parking lot of one of their PPV events while negotiating a potential deal. The plan was to immediately book him with Stone Cold Steve Austin.

I agree with Ric, I think the match could have went 30 minutes to a hour time limit and would still be considered a wrestling classic. Cause Ric and Ricky had great synergy and both styles complimented each other.

Tony Khan should show this match, along with Austin vs Bret @ WM13 to all current & new wrestlers entering AEW. To show them what actual pro wrestling is. Not this combat gymnastics we see from most indie darlings. hopefully will go a little way to bringing some actual wrestling to the product.
this was a sublime masterclass in emotion, psychology, and action, all thrown into 1. Naitch, you truly are the GOAT.

I wonder how many suits Ric has ruined over the years?

  • @stonecoldflipper9503

I always liked Steamboat, but come on, show some respect for The Nature Boy and let him take off that $1,500.00 dollar custom made suit. I guess the suit Steamboat owned from Belk’s only cost about $149.00 back then and he didn’t realize he was destroying a custom made suit that cost as much as his mini van, that he and the misses took the kids out to eat in at a fast food burger joint, while slick Ric was eating at Morton’s or at the Capitol Grille.
