Minelab GPX-6000 noise issues is it the detector or the coil or even something else?

- This GPX-6000 came in for being noisy, was told it would not hold ground balance either, what do you think of it with the #coiltek Coil compared to the #minelab coil?
This detector was fully upgraded and had the factory feedback issue fixed by replacing the inductors on the Class D (Interference generating) Audio output stage.

Epic as usual Woody .
I use the Goldhawk 14 x 9 on my modded 6k and it is a real game changer.
Hi Tony did woody change out the couple of capacitors or whatever in your detector as well as using the coiltek coil to smooth it up , a couple of my mates have them with the standard coils and they're a lot noisier than my old standard 5000
Was the performance on par with the one here?
@@raymcleod6494 Ray , Woody placed a lot of Mag . shielding after Minelab fixed the 6ooo noise problem . Woody also replaced a few parts here and there. { i don't know what he replaced or done , } but it is 10 times better than the standard 6000. My last trip away was 127 pieces for 16.4 grams in a flogged area in 5 days detecting . Woody Modded my 4500 then the 5000 and now my 6000 . Not ever a problem with his mods .
@@tonybaker7242 that's a pretty impressive haul Tony the reason I asked the question was to figure out if the mates should get the coiltek coil or whether you need some mods to make it all work. Another quick question if you don't mind, I see you had a gpx modded as well. How does the modded 6000 compare to your old modded gpx .Cheers Ray
@@DetectorMods hard to tell, different ground but they do find a bit around great western, can't say for sure they might just have shit coils or too much gain
nice
Can a modded 3000 detect a 0.05g nugget? I have an old goldsearch 8” mono and can barely get a 0.10g to sound off. Any coil recommendations???
Absolutely, it is all to do with gain and running a faster repetition rate.
@ I’ve experimented with freq turned way up and increased the gain to where it was noisy and turned it down to where it settled down but can barely hear a 0.1g. I also messed with different levels of freq also. A 0.2g screams at surface and I can detect at about 6”. I would think the .1 should be quite audible at an inch or 2 of depth. Having a hard time figuring it out.
in my experience for Pi machines, oval coils are quieter than round coils, sir
Yes because of partial electromagnetic field cancellation.
@@DetectorMods OK, fine, I'm actually still hoping for a dongle connector for my SDC2300 machine, sir, I'd be very grateful if you gave it, so I can test it on Indonesian soil,
درود استاد چه دستگاهی بخریم عالی باشه عمق 3متر؟؟
Old SD 2000 and modify.

Woody. Where is the 2200D test for the upgrade from last week.
Some depth tests would be great.
The customer wanted it back so I had no time.
@DetectorMods
Bugger would have liked to have seen a good depth test on it.
G'day Pete, Not many know this With the 6000 you gotta take it in to Miners Den in Bendigo and they will change 2 chips inside the control box for ya, like 10 mins , just wait while they do it,
And ye so much smoother and quieter afterwards,,,
in my opinion ,,Minelab are a Disgrace, not to inform nor contact their customers regarding this issue straight from when you open the box . As they treat us Aussies with contempt as they control the market,,,think we're a pack of dills ,
All users are aware at some point, clear sunny days, no wind, star filled night sky, air as smooth as a fair shake of the sauce bottle, you always get an interruption of EMI, for a short period, that's just the 6000,,
Who hasn't get em bloody chips changed U want to swing a quieter machine
How much do miners den charge for the chips and 10 minutes work
I have a better one, stop using class D amplifiers in metal detectors unless the output inductors are synchronised to the transmit pulse with dead time.
Do it yourself , I put up a video on how to do it.
GPX-6000 Fixing the Audio and how to pull it apart in prep for modification and upgrades.

@@DetectorMods that's all good but I am flat out soldering two wires together let alone the intricate stuff with electronics and capacitors and diodes etc
