Daylight saving time: How did we get here?

Didn’t Oregon and Washington decide to get rid of the annoying clock adjustments? Why are we still doing this?

I hate the clock changing ritual; just keep it on Daylight Savings so we keep extracting every bit of daylight out that we possibly can ... Thank You!
