- In June 2020, Matthew Speck shot and killed his wife Caitlin while she slept, then hunted down the couple’s beloved dog Bailey Mae and shot her, too. He then turned the gun on himself in an attempt to make it look like the family had been attacked by home invaders. Law enforcement saw through the charade and charged him with murder. I'm on my fiancés account, but I was friends with her in an online group. She was absolutely the sweetest and she loved Bailey Mae so much. This never should have happened.

"Their stuff" usually means the part the wife worked for. I have observed men switch up and try to to empty the conjoined bank account where the wife would also deposit her salary or get the whole house when the wife paid half. Most men get greedy and selfish when the attraction is gone and they want to give their part including the wives life saving to someone that turns them on.

My sister was in Caitlin’s wedding; they were roommates in college at CofC. I spent all my spring breaks with them, and even though it was just a few days each year, Caitlin left such an impression. She was truly a sweetheart-always kind, always thoughtful. She’d even send me Facebook messages just to check in. What happened to her was so cruel and heartbreaking. I wish I could hug her family and let them know how deeply loved she was, even by those who only shared a short time with her. RIP Caitlin and Bailey Mae. After all these years, I’m so thankful there’s finally justice. ❤
That’s such a lovely, comforting thing for family who’ve lost a loved one to hear, knowing that other people were touched by her, appreciated and remember her, I hope you have a chance to let them know. No matter how long after their passing, it is a great comfort.

Caitlin was an amazing soul. She loved her cats, her nieces and nephews, her family, and her Bailey Mae. She cared about everyone she met, and lots of people she didn't even have the chance to meet. He took a beautiful person away from her family and friends. I hope every day is a horrible day for him in prison.

It doesn't seem that 'running off' was his intention. He probably wanted to STAY -- in his house, with the "new lover".
He wanted a girlfriend in exchange for a wife; and with very little disruption to his existing way of living. He also wanted to continued to have all the things he had gotten accustomed to including the comfort of his home. Maybe the girlfriend didn’t care too much for dogs.
I can’t imagine his parents sleeping in the same house with a person who un alive his family.
