A: I generally use a 2b drawing pencil and artist sketch paper, sometimes Bristol. Check out my Art Supplies video for more information. • Drawing Supplies

Q: How can I get better at drawing?
A: The biggest thing you can do is keep drawing! Never give up.

Just this morning I was getting frustrated because of how bad my profile drawings are and wished there was a good video for me to learn from, then, BAM! Your video! Thanks!

I really find your tutorials fun to watch.
Since I'm homeschooled I don't have art class so these are really helpful!

I'd like to share a couple of head guides that I made that are really simple. The first is just a ping pong ball with the vertical and horizontal center line draw with a sharpie marker. The other one is just wire. Two circles that make the vertical and horizontal lines. This one helps to see both intersections which really helps with the 3/4 view. Hope this helps someone out. Thank you for a great series of videos, it really really helps a lot.

    Hi Valerie :)
Another awesome tutorial from you what a great teacher you are, ... correction "Awesome" you are so talented :)
I can honestly say I have never watched a teaching tutorial where I have been eager for what is next like I do with yours, I usually get fairly bored with them but no way with yours you make them so interesting and easy to follow also you simplify things, and it makes me, (and others no doubt) want to learn more :)
aww!!! love your drawing of the two cartoon cats....so cute, I love cutie pics as well as realistic ones :)
Have a lovely day, and please keep your awesome teaching videos coming, can't get enough of them :)
    Thank you :)
    Magz :)

I also want to elaborate on how important it is to use a reference. I felt VERY discouraged for a LONG time. I would take others art (give them credit of course) trace the art, and color it. I was displeased with all of my original art, and I didn’t think I’d ever even be okay at it. But I decided to make an OC. I decided I would draw and redraw and redraw until I was happy. It was really hard because I saw all of this amazing art and I wasn’t as good. But then I used a reference. It was so much easier when you could use something to help you, I created my baby Ralphie the periwinkle Dino and I’m super happy. (Yes Ralph is my child don’t judge me)

There is a program called Design Doll that will help you out a ton. It's a human female figure and you can move it any way you wish. It's helped me a lot over the years.

Do you have any tips on drawing people with different glasses? Like I wear glasses with thin metal frames that are a sort of copper color (so not very strong contrast with the face), but whenever I try to draw myself (in regular pencil), the glasses always come out looking really big, with thick dark frames, which is a pretty good look, but not what I'm after. I try just going lighter with the pencil, but still haven't succeeded in getting the right effect.

Do you have any tricks for staying consistent? I am trying to draw the same character with various head angles, but not one of them looks like the other, even when altering the view just a little. I try to make the eyes the same shape, but when turned profile or 3/4, I don't know how to make these appear similar. Any hints would be appreciated!

Hey Valerie, I really like drawing and I have spent a lot of time and money investing in my art but I am straying from it and have not drawn for a couple of months. What should I do start liking it again, I'm said to have a natural talent for art but I just don't feel like doing it anymore ! Pleasssseee help!!
