Brilliant review! just got some on order! I only do short, but quick runs in the region of 5k - 10K and will hopefully be my only shoe for a while for tackling the UK trails. My old ones have given up lol. Got my fingers crossed as I wanted something more aggressive than the speedgoat 5 and agility 5 but softer underfoot than the speed cross
Got the MTL Long Sky 2 as my "bad weather"-shoe, great shoe, perfect outsole. Im mud there are better soles Oout there, but as there is always a bit of wet wood, wet Stones..., this sole ist the best compronise in my opinion. Good review, as always, cheers
I have the MTL Long Sky 2 version, no problem with the durability and have had them over a yr, a good amount of miles. I got them because they were light wt, had a good outsole, no slippage, great through rivers, dries quickly. The rock plate, good toe box room, all very positive things, even attachments for gaiters. They were a little stiff the first wear and was afraid of heel issues as you said with the matryx, but was just that first time and have no issues with them since.
I loved these except the hard heel cup, I couldn’t get them to work with getting a really sore heel. Might try the non matryx version with a more padded heel.
@@Run4Adventure Yup. I got into UTMB (I had loads of stones from running Andorra, Julian Alps and Istria). It's going to be the adventure of a lifetime.
Thanks for the review Lloyd! Would you take to a technical mountain 50k in the alps (UTMB eiger)? Looking for an alternative to the Genesis, which I love but beats up my toes at that distance.
Got mine today to try, just in the house to see if I like them. Yeah the hard back heal cup maybe of a concern, but I do love them other than that. Maybe a sock with some reinforcement in the back of heal? I have the agility 5 new in a box as well for comparison and the heal is much better but not sure on them for me, deffo prefer the long sky 2. Uhmmmmmmmm 🤔
Hi Loyd! Went for a first run in these the other day (definitely no longer white) washed them off and was a bit concerned that the dye seems to have rubbed off at the flex points already. Did this happen with yours? Seems like a great shoe otherwise!
Hi there My first run was pretty muddy to and I had to give the shoe a good wash when I got home but I haven’t had any issues with the dye rubbing off? 🤔 I’ll keep and eye on it but it looks good at the moment 👍 Glad you enjoyed your run and thanks for watching 🙏
Good afternoon. Excellent description, Loyd. Here is my Like. A nice weekend for everyone.

I see you matched the correct sock colour with these 😅. I still really love my Agility Peak 5 those - from the review on Run4Adventure.
Guess I'll be seeing you in Chamonix this year then. Super excited to meet you.
Awesome! Are you running one of the races? 🙂

@@OrdMandrell1 That’s fantastic, well done! You’ll love it, it’s an incredible experience 😁
Endend up buying the long sky 2 at a discount and then ordering the Matryx to use for an upcoming race.
Hopefully see you on the start line of the 100k serpent trail. Fingers crossed training goes well
Hopefully Adam, best of luck with your training 👍🙂
Great review as usual! Are you going to cover the north face vectiv pro 2 ? Or the adidas terrex speed ultra?
Is the New Balance Venym on the list to test? Haven't see it appear on any TH-cam channels yet.

I think the ankle injinji socks could be good for padding around the heel/ankle.
@@NewSkiwi thank you, just ordered some to try
How's the fit compared to something like the Wildhorse 8? And are you going to get a chance to review the VJ Maxx 2? Thanks!
Hi Loyd, wondering if are you going to try the HNNORMAL KJERAG at any point ? :) cheers
I have a question, which faster trail shoe of all you have tried, is the best on road? And which road shoe would be best for mixed terrain?
Thanks for a great review! Would you prefer the Salomon S lab Pulsar 3 over this shoe?
I actually really enjoy running in both shoes! I’d need to spend more time in each shoe before I could answer that question 👍🙂
I wonder if the Matryx upper is the reason for the more volume in the toe box?
I think it’s just a wider, deeper toe box Jamie 🤔
What shorts do you wear in this video?
Let's see how the uppers hold up after 150km. That's when my LONGSKY 2 standard edition fell apart.
Dear running companies. Stop with the Clown Colors please.
I actually like these ones :) but yeah would have also like the option of just black perhaps.

@@Run4Adventure Perhaps we just have very abrasive mud up North? 🤔 Hoping they hold up!
@@killthedonkey540 I hope so, because it’s a nice shoe to run in 🤞🤞🤞
