I was unable to find anything about Maureen, but sadly I did find an obituary for Terry - he passed away in hospital on Friday 8th December 2017 aged 85. The hotel is now run (or at least managed by) Sykes Holiday Cottages, and I think it's likely that it's still owned by the sons at least
I'm a Lesbian(42 year old bi woman so effectively Lesbian) & it reminds me of my tiny cluttered apartment... with a lot of pink... why would I pay good money to stay in another cluttered place, filled with somebody else's clutter? Hotel & Motels are not your home... if you are an owner- clutter up the bit you live in & cut it off from guests. The rest keep very clean & very minimal
@punkybrewstar83 so uoure not lesbian you are bi.with a much stronger preference for women. Why are so many people so scared to say that they are bisexual (biphojoa)
I find it hilarious that the pink room is "for the gays" and he seems totally genuine, like I don't think that's meant as insulting from him, it's just hilariously wrong
in 2025 it's available as a short term rental to suit 14 guests, average booking price of £2,300 for 4 nights (eike!) however looks very booked up with stunning views, real shame they didn't do this sooner. it's all been remodelled and looks amazing, doubt its the same owners/family of them.
As a gay man I'd like to state that pink is not a colour for interior design outside mental health institutions. But gay men are not loving pink generally.
To prove a point - I absolutely hate baby pink ! I once had a red and white Gingham check Gap shirt and I loved it until a friend stated it was pink at least front a distance ! I never wore it again and sold it on eBay not long after that !
I really enjoyed this episode what a lovely. Inch of people and a beautiful place. Really like Jo too. Very stylish lovely classy lady. Love Alex as always.
Lol, I won’t lie I quite like certain simple floral wallpapers and fabrics but not all over like that was. Traditional English country aesthetic but streamlined. I think it’s quite pretty!
I love Alex with her energy and taking no crap in conversations. She made a great improvement in the bedrooms but that tea room ...... The pink walls and green curtains are hideous and no matter which decade this was filmed in it is still positively hideous.
Before I start my rant I want to let you up till this video I really enjoyed watching your youtube videos untill this .....I would like to know what a pink pounder is ?? Sounds very Obonxious to categorize the Lgbtq+ community as pink pounders . I guess in Britain that's OK to use .Here in Canada not would stay there if he the owner called me that . And for you as a hotelier / bb fixer / tv personality should be using terms like that ?? Simply put Not impressed. 😢 Wess S.
This is an episode from 15 years ago, before the changes in attitudes and language. It's not the same in the uk now in general. It's p.c. now. Even Alex's language would have been 'updated' by now. So no need to be distressed. Although of course every country will have a bigoted unchangeable minority.
The ‘pink £’ was a term referring to usually gay men because on average they had higher incomes and therefore more disposable income. So ‘pink pound’ customers were sought after by businesses. There’s nothing offensive about it.
It was filmed in 2011 before LGBTQ wokeness and he’s part of a different generation. He says what he thinks, with no adaptation to someone’s precious feelings 😂
Pink Pound is very much a term that was coined to suggest companies should be catering to specifically middle class gay man with a disposable income. Pound refers to the UK currency. The owner is welcoming and even trying to cater to the community although his attempts seem outdated / stereotypical / laughable.
It is stunning now, it really looks great. Sad to see Terry passed away back in 2017 at 85 years old
I love this old guy.. he reminds me of my (now dead) dad.
I hope the lady "who was like family" was somewhere in their will...

burried, or cremated? or sent out to sea?
The building they own has presence. It is gorgeous.
As part of the target demographic, I think that pink room looks absolutely, positively gaudy.
🤣
I am another of the target demographic and I laughed so loud at Terrys comment.
I hate pink with a passion hahaha

hes trying his best! LOL
a lot of old school men and women use old fashioned and accurate words too describe people
Only 12 mins in - My gosh Alex has some patience!
As ‘lovable’ as Terry is, what a bloody nightmare to work with.
God bless his long suffering wife!

Grear to hear an update on such a beautiful property, thank you 😊
£2300 for 14 people, 4 nights; £40 per person per night is a bargain!
Ooh I'm glad about this, is it still them who run it? 😊 Oh just realised theyll be over 100 now 😂 sorry
The price is incredibly cheap, especially if you have 14 people in a group as it's £41.07 pp. Wow.
@@LumiSisuSusi : 14 years ago.. Pre brexit.. prices gone up a fair bit everywhere since then.
What's the point of having Alex come if they don't want her opinion? I don't get it.
Bit of publicity maybe
Just manufactured drama that you find in all ‘reality’ shows.
lmao i definitely clicked this one cause of the thumbnail 😂

Hopefully Jo inherited…
With you on that

The only part I liked was the pink room but then she says only little girls under the age of 4 like it... Damn 😅
I wonder if this couple are still alive? They must be about 90 now?
110.
@@LadyDisco01😂😂😂
@@LadyDisco01 ah, someone else must be running it then?
@@tashaimpressions this was filmed about 20 years ago so I'd imagine so
Beautifully renovated now and looks like the whole house is available for large parties /families to rent short term.
can someone explain to me why British people are obsessed with flowers on walls/curtains etc...?
It's mostly older people.
I would say it is a generational thing. North America had a floral wallpaper phase too.
Just a guess, but the country is very grey (weather-like) so maybe to cheer stuff up?
@@wasdaddan you make a fair point

I wonder if Terry ever did get Cremated or Buried? or left his body to Science fiction.
Love this eccentric couple and love the collections. Would be in heaven there as long as it’s clean
A lot of people who can afford a vacay have a certain taste...not this lol
@ultraboombean you'd be suprised there's a niche fir everything
Jo kept it clean
I liked the pink bathroom...
You must be gay then 😊
@@wasdaddan From what I've read, there's nothing about it that even gays like.
Another ancient episode.
Right...saw this some time ago and came away discouraged, as I recall.
They are all old episodes, this show ended years ago
