My dad was *removed* from his home. He was also three. My Grandad was in a severe Trucking accident and my grandmother had a mental illness. There were eight kids and the four youngest we're put in a children's home. Luckily they did well in school and we're all able to go to college and be on their own after they left. Your story was very interesting to hear, thanks for sharing!
