How do you go and compete in an event organized by a company that is against what the church teaches on alcohol consumption, then leadership be OK with you leading praise programs? If I may reference the parable of the prodigal son - After he had lived a sinful life he came back home and God Father came running towards Him and took him back in. God's Love and mercy towards us is not based on our holiness or perfect behavior but on His character and decision to Love us even while we were yet sinners. I do not condone what Steve did or how he went about it but I also do not condone the approach of church closing ist Doors through a discriminative attitude towards those struggling with their Faith or life. By closing them out the church often plays them right into the enemy's hands. Yet Jesus clearly stated that He came to save the sinner, the sick and the lost. It is a delicate balance that requires strong leadership and a lot of wisdom. I pray for reconciliation and emotional healing for both parties.
