This is one of the best tutorials I have seen yet Drew. It has never occurred to me to design book covers, so you have given me a new avenue to pursue. Thank you.
Unbelievalby brilliant tutorial for using Kittl. Thank you so much for posting it. Like all your tutorials, I love the way you talk through the reasons for the design choices. Thank you! My favourite books: Historical fact/fiction and SF &F.
I have had access to Kittl from the begining but have only started to really get into it for the past few days. What a great program! I'm loving it. Why I didn't start exploring it more before? I cannot explain.
Such a rich and appealing book cover! And yes, I'll buy a book sometimes because of it's cover. My favorite books these days are non-fiction and educational, however I am reading whatever I can find by Daphne de Maurier! Thank you for the great tutorial. I'd like to give it a try!
absolutely stunning! its almost (ok it is) overwhelming how much choice we have in Kittl. i need to start at some of the beginner tutorials but im so thrilled to be a kittl subscriber. you make this looks so easy but its just gorgeous!
Yay! That’s great, I got into Kittl just for book covers, but figuring out how took me a while, this tutorial shows everything what I’ve been missing 😂. Apart from how to copy a front cover to a new project for wrap-around cover, unless I can just stretch the canvas size after I’m done with the e-book cover? I could also crop the full cover, but starting from just the front cover seems easier to keep the right size/not spill the design on the spine.
I'm glad this was helpful! And happy to hear you are using Kittl for Book Covers! So doing a full (front/back) book cover for Print typically includes having the entire cover in 1 artboard, so you would need a horizontal view (so to speak) of the entire book cover. Then on the left would be the back of your cover, and on the right would be the front of your cover. But this size and format wise, this is really going to depend on the printer's specifications. If you join our Discord community (link in the description), you can post your ongoing project in the #review channel and I can help you further :)
Beautiful cover, if possible could you do a video and explain what you are clicking on when you highlight areas please? I 've been playing with it but I'm missing some steps. thanks so much.
Hey there! Glad you liked the cover! I did a full demo tutorial with our good friend Juna over on his channel that might help you on how to use certain features. You can check it out here th-cam.com/video/9PfGcKaRWbE/w-d-xo.html :) Of course you can also use the chat feature in Kittl (or join our Discord community (link in the description) and ask questions there if you need more help!
Thank you for the post ... I want to get time to get a chance to use my trial of your software ... Ben using Corel Draw for so many years, also I've down loaded some of your gear and found that Adobe CS-6 sometimes don't work. I have been able to use SVG's in Corel. Love this new approach to signage/labels ... side note I love this gold leaf images and your container collection ... again thanks...Ken
Hey there! This book cover design was specific to the electronic version that you can upload (as an e-book), but we do have an updated tutorial on making a complete cover and interior book design coming very soon!

im a glass artist...can kittl composition be exported as vector svg to be burned from a laser or cut on a cnc router..? i know i could trace the finished image but then whats the point of starting in kittl if a have to trace it in another program.
Thanks for a wonderful video! You make really good instructional videos. I look forward to the videos and the challenges in them. I will make my book cover version soon and post in Kittl Group. Soon I will be also working on a cover for a technical non fiction book on antique historical records ...The author loves the look of the Sandborn Map art....Maybe that will inspire the cover. You are great and Thanks again.😊
@@Kittldesign Thanks so much for taking the time with my bumbling misinterpretations and so grand of you to do for others beyond yourself and present in such a cogent and lucid manner the full process, a magnanimous deed! THANK YOU!
Hi, thanks for this amazing tutorial! But if I want to publish my book on KPD, is it going to be an e-book? And for free? This will be my first time doing this, so sorry if the questions are dumb.
Hey there! This tutorial was specifically for making the cover that you might need for a KDP book. Typically, that looks like a printed book, but you can also have an e-book version. We will work on putting together a complete tutorial on how to do this.
Hey there. In this scenario we just used an uppercase glyph you can find over in the glyphs panel. You could also make 2 text boxes, and just have your uppercase letter as a separate larger text box.
Hey there! Sure thing, we will be adding design principle tutorials in the future. Stay tuned for next Tuesday where we will go over making and applying color palettes!
I wanna make a book cover : A blood splash on the male crown, and the back ground is black and purple smoke. Would this be possible on kittle? Please reply
