My father got me into phoenix and in many ways was so much cooler than me.. He disliked this lp and it was my favourite.. Sadly he died before Wolfgang amadeus phoenix.. Although that lp was a soundtrack to me and my wife getting together which led to my beautiful daughter entering the world we have here!
Your father had good taste. I saw them live several times, twice as a pro photog. Their shows ROCK. I have many many fond memories of their shows... I met a really nice Phillipino chick at the 2005 show at the Bowery, we became and remain friends. I took my GF to a 2009 Central park 'Bankrupt!' show shortly after we met... My gf and i hung out with my Phillipina friend in Thailand, and barely missed the March Bangkok 2023 show... Sorry to hear about your father; music brings so many people together, as it did with you and your wife. Im not fond of their latest two albums, but i always have a soft spot for their first 3 albums.
@@achilledepoitiers4462 thank you, thank you for replying in such a nice and kind way. You made my day in the comment section of TH-cam.. I like albums all up to Wolfgang. But really love the newer track 'tonight' it's back to how I used to get the feeling of phoenix back then.. Bankrupt in 2009? Was that even released then?

The Ti Amo tour has been their best yet! This was my fourth time seeing them and my favorite. Although they never play anything off this album and it bums me out.
and after all these albums, it's still epic how well they use their 'adventurous versatility' to great effect. (just hope they blend this one 'I.N.B.L.T' with 'Wolfgang Amadeus' for album no. 7)
This is probably their most guitar-centric album. Not as much synthwork as some of their albums. And yet this album is so upbeat and dance-y. Probably my favorite of theirs.
I honestly don't know why Phoenix only plays 1 or 2 songs at most from this album in concert. It's way better than their first two albums IMO and is more rock n roll. I know this was before their big breakthrough with the WAF album in 2009 but still it's pretty strong all the way through even if it sounds like Strokes-Lite at times. Which isn't really a bad thing IMO.
Feels like the transition point between early Phoenix and WAP and beyond. Rawer and more stripped back than their later stuff, but distinct from their softer hits from United and Alphabetical. Really good though, and absolutely deserving of more attention.

Courtesy Laughs - love it. Damn fine album! Saw them in Orlando this year. GREAT SHOW.

I'm just glad they're playing older tunes like 'if i ever feel better' - they didn't play that for years!

Also good to appreciate the previous works like this
It is 2021 and here I am listening to good music- Still and always!
