    Congratulations! You guys seems like a great team. From your previous videos this property and home seems exactly like what you were aspiring to buy. I came across your channel because my wife and I are moving to Latvia (Daugavpils) next September because I have accepted a job to teach English at that city's university. So, I am spending my spare time learning about Latvia, the culture and geography. Most Americans are aware of the so-called "Baltic States" but few know the details of any of the countries and life there. Good luck to you and your plans for making your new place your "home." 👍

      Thank you for the nice comment! We truly believe that we finally found our place to call home! We hope that you will enjoy your stay in Latvia , because our country could really use someone who teaches English with American accent. 😅 For most generations expect gen z English in Latvia was thought by teachers who have never spoken to a native English speaker so most of Latvians have a very distinctive accent when speaking English. 😅

    Very nice - but maybe a bit dangerous. Please check your roof if the Eternit contains Asbest. Asbest => cancer. As long you do not move the plates or they are not destroid, there is no problem. But better you replace the Eternit roof of your living house (very carefully).

    Congrats guys! Well done. I hope in the future you could explain more in detail LV tax system in regards to properties - from buying it from auction sites to running yearly costs/ housing/council taxes/ lawyer costs/ stamp duty, legal process etc. Also could you talk more about the geography of your property, land structure/quality/elevation, options for going self sufficient from very essential amenities - water, electricity(solar?), Sewage, fire cost vs gas etc, Latvian house quality for heat retention, how deep are foundation and how old is this house, has it historic value? etc.
    And how easy it is to settle in a new community in LV? Is your village/town open to visitors or it's a struggle to find/ make friends?
    I also saw you are planning for garden - is there plan for outdoor cellar?
    What is your ambition in regards to going green/eco/ living off land and how LV market ( in regards to building materials/ skilled workforce/ labour cost) can help you/make easy to achieve this?
    In anticipation and best wishes,
    Rita

      @WeAreHarvestingdreams  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thanks for watching and your comment and concern. Yes we are aware that the roof tiles are made of asbestos, however you probably would not be very happy to hear that in Latvia almost 80% oh houses are still covered with asbestos tiles and the switch to more healthy materials is incredibly expensive and slow here. 🤷‍♂️😟

    I had 5 chickens and my family of 3 could never eat all the eggs we collected. Here in Texas people pay 6 dollars a dozen for free range eggand don't forget to get a rooster they will protect the flock from pesky preditors like foxes! Also you can make great compost for your vegatables!

    • @WeAreHarvestingdreams
      @WeAreHarvestingdreams  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thanks for sharing your knowledge! We were thinking about max 3 chickens as we probably couldn't eat all the eggs ourselves. 😊 the compost idea also sounds great and would help us be more sustainable and share the vegetables with chickens to reduce any foodwaste 😊🏡

I respect your privacy would be grateful however if you could say where approximately or which ‘pagasta’ the house is located, is it far from the sea….I am in awe of you both - determined and know where you want to be in life that is so inspirational. I guess you are not turning back to nine to five jobs any time soon or perhaps never. Do you think life on the land will be enough? Are you planning to work remotely?
