Thank you so much for this! Hope my professors know this is correct because I’ve never written an essay quite like what I am doing now. Looks so weird!
Hello, Hamlin. Thanks for the video! You said in the video "a block quote is any quote that is four lines long or longer." I have read from trusted sources that a block quote is a quote longer than four lines, not four lines. I am working on my research paper and I am confused. I hope you see this message and make sure if what you have said was correct. Waiting for your response!
Hi Halim and Marouane, I was wondering if either of you could help me. Is it longer than 4 lines typed when we type it (we’re told to use size 12 Font times new Roman), or does it depend on if it’s longer than 4 lines in the novel?
@@anammir496, sorry, I have just seen your message. It is longer than 4 lines when we type it in a Word doc. I am sorry again for replying late. Good luck!
@Amina Hossain Bristy, hello! I think you will follow the handwritten lines! I am not sure to be honest. But, when we type, we follow the Word doc, not the book. I think that applies to handwriting as well. Break a leg!
i know this was a year ago but for me it did the same thing, what i found out was u press tab at the beginning of the first line then press tab at the beginning of the second line and it should make everything go to how it’s supposed to.
Does anyone know how to proceed correctly if the block quote is followed directly by a new section? Do I still indent the first line, even if it is then on the same level as the block quote and it is not really recognisable where the block quote ends?

Let me check--yes, you're right. MLA 8 Handbook says more than 4 lines. Thanks for catching that!
