Kyosho fan here, but seeing this, having doubts now if I’ll get the this truck. This will be available here in UK this January 2022. Hope Kyosho watches this & sort it out. Thanks for the heads up. Kyosho should send you a brand new truck for their remiss. The Kyosho Mad Force 3 speed tranny on Anthony Cromptons’ YT video is awesome. Hope it all goes well with your truck

The Kyosho name has been around since 1968, I assumed when buying this that I'd feel the quality like I do on my Traxxas Revo 3.3 which has been around for 20 years less!
I've also seen Anthony Cromptons videos! In fact, I purchased this usa-1 after seeing his mad force shifting smoothly! His videos on how to adjust the timing were also very helpful. Not sure what Kyosho changed on this transmission but it wasn't a good change.
Thanks for sharing this important info about the USA-1 problems. This must be the first time the inside of a pipe gets loose without any good reason. That should not happen, bad quality from Kyosho. Same with the 3-speed transmission. I want to buy this truck some day but they have to fix the problems first. Also a new truck should be easy to get replacment parts for and not have to pay a fortune to get them.
I’m researching feedback on this truck as I’m thinking of adding it to my collection. But after watching this, I’ll look for something more reliable. Thank you👌🏻
It's actually very reliable! The initial issues were because of faulty transmission part, which kyosho replaced. I have 2 of these trucks now because they're that fantastic. No other 3 speed nitro on the market currently unless they bring the savage XL back
Now in 2024 has Kyosho updated the transmission? I was about to buy one until I saw the transmission issues
Please, anyone having the same troubles contact kyosho! They need to know so it gets fixed!

It would seem as though kyosho has farmed out its QC to the consumer.

I sense a storm coming for kyosho very soon as these usa1 nitro kits are beginning to be sent out in mass, mine arrives tomorrow.
I see quite a lot of Interest in this nitro Kit and I suspect pre orders were pretty robust.

I just posted a video with it finally working properly...it was cut short due to stripped teeth on 1st gear due to loose mesh, but at least the transmission is still working after I rebuilt it/ new parts, and properly lubed it.
I do hope Kyosho will at least provide some replacement parts to compensate for the ones we've had to buy already for a brand new truck

Cool information, watched a few of your videos on this truck and will be doing everything you did to mine that should be here tomorrow,will tear it all down and lube everything before running it.
It's a fantastic truck, both mine are running great 👍🏼 if you do have any issues kyosho has been good in sending parts to fix

I bought the transmission lot kit from Jenny’s RC, found it cheaper than having to buy the spur and everything separately.
Hey great video I just found your Channel today . I’m getting a USA 1 for Christmas and want to be on top of these issues. Do you think cleaning and lubing the one way bearings before I run it would help or should I just replace them. Also do you have a link or part numbers for the 3 gears in metal.
Definitely take it apart and lube everything! Also worth taking things apart and using threadlocker
My truck was shifting perfect from day one. But today, it would shift into 2nd gear fine, however, when it shifted into Third gear, the engine would overspeed , as if the 3rd gear was not turning the driveshaft. I have to take it apart now to analyze the problem...
By the way, when I got the truck, I immediately replaced the engine with an OS .30vg and eventually replaced the Kyosho pipe with a OS T-2090. Seeing that your Kyosho pipe broke, I'm glad I'm using the OS.
Did you manage to fix the issues you were having? As you may have seen from my latest videos, it's running great now after I rebuilt and replaced a bunch of transmission parts
@@TurokRC Not yet. I ordered those steel gears from Ebay. Once I get them, then I will take apart my transmission to see what's going on. I was stoked that I seemed to have a perfect running USA-1 until the 3rd gear stopped working. This situation reminds me of the original Tamiya Juggernaut, which was plagued with transmission issues when first released.
I think the transmission needs a good servicing every 10 tanks or so. The needle bearings are a huge failure point and need lubrication. Knock on wood but mines been working great for about 10 tanks now, posted an update bash video
@@TurokRC When you say "needle bearings" what exactly are you talking about? As I look through the manual, I'm not sure what is meant by "needle bearings."
There are needle bearings inside the 2nd gear cam and the 1st gear, those are what seized up on me
Smh and i was really gonna let this truck my first nitro R/c have always got electric and basically if there's anything wrong its user errors caused usually but not always, but im glad ive continued to check videos on this and see there's a issue that's expected with nitro but to not have part availability to even fix is a issue!!!!! Smh no way in hell $500 dollars and breaks under month with no part availability!!!!!

Such a shame it has these annoying issues.
I think I may grab a HPI as my next nitro. Leaning towards the Savage but also entertaining the idea of the Truggy as it has a single speed transmission. Kind of prefer the Savage though.
Currently running an Inferno Neo 3 which is doing well. Assembled to a high standard and the engine hasn't given me any major grief.
Fingers crossed you get the USA-1 sorted but I won't be buying one now. Thanks heaps for the info.

Definitely a shame about all these issues, the truck has such a simple design yet fails at such a critical part.
And more than happy to share these issues so it saves others from the same headaches! Really hoping it also gets Kyoshos attention to send us some upgraded parts or something (one can only hope)
I've also seen great things about the savage XL which has the 3 speed, but I know the trans is harder to adjust as you have to remove the whole thing just to get to one of the cam adjustments. One thing I do rate about the Kyosho is it's ease in adjusting the transmission and ease in removing it
Researching online,the best solution I have found to the 3 speed clutch problem is to "upgrade" to a traxxas clutch, bearing, etc.

Man, That low speed is way too rich, that’s why the idle is screaming when you let off. Try a pinch test to set it up. My USA 1 had shifting issues right out of the box, had to disassemble it and force the cog on the 2nd gear out a few times and turn out the screw 1.5 turns and then it shifts like a dream. Absolutely my favourite nitro I own(7) of them. I’m thinking I might even sell off my savage XL’S so I can buy another USA1
This vehicle is a good candidate for a "shelf queen" it looks great but too many kinks to work out, plus no chassis plate on the bottom, so how can you off-road it?
It's fine, I never had problems with my 1st gen Madforce.
She sure in moves in 3rd. This is so unfortunate. Well, just like mine the shaft and one ways are fusing together. I think the shaft is not hardened properly or at all! I sanded mine and I'm waiting for gears, but what for!? Just going to have the same issue. Amain is great! They took an entire 600 size heli kit back for me that had too many issues.
That's what I fear - I'm going to put brand new parts and the same thing is going to happen....today I am going out with this truck again with full lubed bearings, both clutches brand new. If it still has issues then I'm definitely done playing with this truck. I've contacted amainhobbies via email and also sent them the link to this video. Hopefully they'll do us right !
Well that sucks. It looks like I've expected that the material they use is weak. Carbon is the way to go, but seen none for these online. There is a aftermarket company make steel gears for these. Maybe that could be the only cure.

I have a USA 1 an old one with a single speed or let say with a low super gear in it.It was powerful and durable, nothing have a problem ,to the single and one big gear ,and it was 25 years already.even now nothing is broken or smashing compared to the new USA 1 with 3 speed gears.Maybe the new USA 1 is so big and might the weight of the model is so heavy, that is why the 3 speed gear cannot lasts longer.if I am right.
@Turok can you share the exhaust and fuel line you bought my transmission is shifting fine but my exhaust broke the same way
Wow, Kyosho should really provide a replacement muffler if yours broke like thst too. I'm using the shaluoman muffler from amazon

If I still have issues after this rebuild which basically has all new parts for the transmission now, then I really hope they do take it back because I'm not going to keep replacing transmission parts after every 15 mins of use !
I think I have the same issue with my usa 1 Bc the pipe has like small dents in it but idk why and their is always fuel coming out the pipe now and it won’t even start I think their pipes are really bad can you send me the link to the Amazon pipe?
Sounds like the same issue, if you take the exhaust off you should be able to shake it and see if the baffling has come loose. The one I replaced it with is the shaluoman muffler on amazon

@@TurokRC thanks I’ll take it apart and try shaking I didn’t know what was wrong until I watched this video Bc no matter what it won’t start I tried tuning it and it almost start but a lot of fuel would come out the pipe after
@@TurokRC Hey I just took the pipe off and shook it their was no noise but the grub screw was stripped for some reason so pipe was hard to take off and I contacted Kyosho about it and they seem to have no idea what’s wrong too Bc every time I try to start it won’t start and fuel keeps coming out of the pipe do you have any ideas?

I bought mine two weeks ago and have not even started the engine yet. I am disgusted with all the problems you and RG and others have posted about the faulty transmission and cheap parts used. Kyosho used to be top notch, but now? Shame on them. Mine was purchased from A-Main (great store btw) and out of the box the hood decal was scratched in 3 places, the tuned pipe is scratched, and the chassis had some weird mold or fungus all over it, which I had to clean off. $520 plus tax for a shelf queen I am hesitant to run. Sux....
FWIW I have the FO-XX V2 nitro and have not had any transmission problems in the 5 tanks I have run thru it.
I'd advise taking transmission apart and lubing those needle bearings before use. Believe it or not I actually ordered another one on black friday....now that I've got it working and shifting great.
Kyosho has responded to me and has offered to replace the parts so I appreciate that. I bought both from Amain who are awesome.
My tuned pipe was also heavily Scratched, even though it's advertised as "polished"
@@TurokRC Yes, I will do that. I contacted Kyosho America about the issues I had and they haven't said a peep.
@@xKmotx seems like they are swamped with people contacting them due to the usa-1, not to mention all their other offerings. If you don't hear back from them in 2-3 days give them a call to follow up. They offered to comp me for a few of the parts I bought
I fixed the gears stripping on the inside by hammering out the small metal pin that is inserted into the plastic and drilled out so I could drive in a larger machine screw then Dremeled off the screw head and any protruding screw on the other side then put it back together and it shifts every time

Needle bearings in 2 or 3 speeds need a very small dab of lithium grease, not oil.
Indeed, that's what I usually put in my bearings but someone recommended bearing oil instead 🤦🏽♂️. After I put lithium grease I've not had any issues so far it shifting.
I picked up the Kyosho one way bearing grease which is silicone based, I'll be using that from now on

Mad crusher had the weak plastic in the axles. They didn’t fix that until the USA-1 came out. They’ll fix the transmission in 2 years with the next update

You should of titled your video 99 problems but a b___h one. No i am wondering did the mad crusher have these problems with its 21size engine.
I might return my usa 1. It's an inherently poor design and poorly assembled. No other company has a multi speeds transmission that engages into plastic lobes, most use aluminum.
I've ordered a set of hardened steel gears for this truck. Will post a video update of the install and performance once received

You expect it to be an RTR which means READY TO RUN, what else do you expect? 😂
All other RTRs I've gotten have been actual RTRs, no issues out the box
