This is a brilliant format, thank you for doing these! I look forward to the next episodes. I do have one issue tough: one of the main things that have kept me from throwing Glimmer machine is that - to me- it seems to have an absolutely horrible impact on the environment: the foil is plastic, it comes on a plastic roll and is packaged in plastic. And now you tell us the ideal paper is, in effect, plastic, too?! This means that we put an enormous amount of practically non-degradable (ever!) waste into our environment. (Same as with our beloved foam tape and babywipes btw). I love crafting and the industry and Spellbinders products - but I think we as crafters (and craft companies!) owe it to,our kids and grandkids and the following generations to do better!
I love this format! The technical knowledge of paper crafting is super helpful!
Yay! Thank you! 🙌 more to come!
Yana and Denzil, thank you for this very informative episode on paper crafting myth busters, it is extremely helpful to me as I am only 2 years into my crafting journey. That said, I have quickly learned that paper quality matters and makes a difference in the results that I get. Paper truly matters! Thank you for sharing such wonderful knowledge. In a sea of disinformation and misinformation on this wonderful tool we call "the internet" good and informative content like what you've shared here in this episode is refreshing and welcomed!
Great episode! For 20 years I worked for an office product manufacturer that made mostly paper related products. I was fortunate enough to get the chance to visit two paper mills. One was in Minnesota and the other in Oregon. It was fascinating to watch the process from wood logs to huge rolls of paper, taller than me.
Oh, how exciting!
Thank you for producing this type of presentation. It was very informative.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching
I have a keen interest in the papers I use for crafting, so I find this video very helpful and thank you both.
Thank you so much for your feedback, we appreciate it 🙌❤️
Also, LOVE that wallpaper or wall painting.
Yes! Spellbinders has such cool backdrops! 😎
Love this video! I would love to see information on all the types of inks - what are they best for, are all dye inks the same?, storage and swatching.
Great suggestion! Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed our new series!
Wonderful step through crafty paper today. Thanks for the insights Denzil and Yana xoxo
Thank you! We are glad you enjoyed it 🙌
Very informative! I thought I knew a lot about paper, but learned quite a bit more. Looking forward to more in this series.
All that information and yet no actual answer as to what weight/gsm we should be looking for! That's what I kept waiting for...but nope. I knew it was confusing before watching most of this...still confused. Oh, well, will stick with what I've been using for years and not worry about it!~
This was very informative. Thank you Yana and Denzil!!
Our pleasure!
Thanks for all that learning. Very informative. Love it.
Very enjoyable and informative, thank you both.
This was so interesting! It’s going to be a great series! Thank you both!
Yay! Thank you 🙌❤️🙌 we are working on the next one already
Thank you both, this was most informative. I look forward to future episodes int the series.
Yay! So glad you enjoyed it 🙌❤️🙌
Thanks, everyone. Leave any questions below and we will add them to future episodes. We want to make everyone a better crafter by knowing a little of the "why" behind the techniques.
Loved this video concept/format. Love anything technical. Want more. Can we have another video showing different foils and paper combos; more demos on tried and true combos that work consistently, but also those that might be a bit tweaky, and tips/learning curve hints to make them work?
Thank you for your feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed this format!
Thanks for doing this series! I’m lucky enough to be able to spend the winters in the warm California desert and summers in Pacific NW. Two VERY different environments for paper crafting. In the damp north - top folding cards just don’t work unless both front & inside panels are reinforced with another panel of cardstock essentially making the paper close to 200 lb equivalent. In the desert 80 lb card holds up just fine.
Wow! Such a dramatic difference - I guess this is something you don't realize until you've experienced it yourself.
😍🥰😍🥰😍 Love this Yana and Denzel
Yay 🙌 thank you!
A question for a future episode? What are the best mediums for coloring on the synthetic paper designed for foiling? TBH I’ve done zero testing myself.
Alcohol mediums would be best. Like alcohol inks and alcohol markers
What color medium is best on glimmer paper? Alcohol markers?
I really enjoyed this video. I have limited time so I appreciate that you stayed on topic but also were pleasant & warm in presenting it.
I look forward to learning more.
Awww, thank you so much! Appreciate your feedback ❤️ the best medium would be alcohol markers. Although they behave very differently on synthetic paper compared to regular cardstock
Very informative video. I did a class on paper for our scrapbook club quite a few years ago. Discussed gsm vs # weight and how to best score your paper. I should review that for myself! Thank you so much for this video!
Thank you I look forward to the next topic
Thank you! Next one is coming soon ❤️
Really love this series … i like myth busters & really appreciate the technical side because of my science background … there is a lot of fun in understanding how to expand your favourite hobby with a little extra knowledge …. I would describe my passion for paper crafts being a mixture of history, engineering, science & art (and geography coz it’s worldwide) … hard to find another hobby that combines all these …
Absolutely! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! More is definitely to come ❤️
Very interesting conversation, thanks! Would love to know more about heat embossing or inks.
Noted! Thank you so much for joining us ❤️🙌
Hi - TY! Will Betterpress incorporate inside sentiments too? Also, invitations, save the date, etc. I know personalizing names may not be possible, or is it? For unique names, like my daughter & Yana, that may be great to do.
The best paper is the paper you can afford. 😅❤
😂😂😂
I like 80 lb. Paper for layering
I’m liking filling but not wanting to spend the money on the filling plates. Just a bit too much. So a lot of testing with the other ways to foil.
