Susan is the best blues vocalist of our time, Derek is one of the best guitarists of all time and the TTB is the best band of our time. There is not much more to say. 12 world class musicians - that's great art.
@@theguyinmaine Sadly SRV has passed. May he RIP. Must everything be a competition? And, did you miss the part about Derek being ONE of the best guitarist of all time? There is nothing false in that statement, and differences of opinions, and tastes in music are just that, and nothing more.
@@theguyinmaine I usually don't respond to Trolls who post looking for attention. You seem to have trouble with basic reading comprehension as well though. Do you have Daddy issues too?
A great singer leaves everything on the stage. Every ounce of their energy and soul is left on the stage. My god does Sue do this in spades here! That scream, good lawd man! She does something so cool. First verse, she keeps the mic in its stand. But you know she’s about to take y’all to church when she takes it out of the stand. She’s one of the finest singers on the planet right now. This arrangement is impeccable too! Derek’s solo! The horns with such a fat sound! The drums fills! Incredible!
Susan is beyond amazing on this tune. I feel like Sharon Jones unleashed something inside her. She's always been really, really good, but she just seems more fearless. And the addition of Alecia Chakour on backup vocals certainly helps a lot with a tune like this. Derek is Derek. There are more sounds, more emotions, more ideas flowing out of him these days, more ways of saying things in the same way only different, than any musician I can think of at this time. I feel lucky to be alive. :-)
What I love about Derek is that awesome grolwl as he slides down the llow E string. Most people don't notice it but it''s HIS technique and he does it frequently..
As of this post there are 9 people who can't be helped. They will just never get it. I listened to her a decade ago. They have SO SO SO brought out the best in each other. Listening to this is like a sledgehammer of joy.
This is ALL about support. The backing band ALL believe in the front. She believes in the Song....the most important thing, without that, it all fall's apart.
I am just blown away. I could feel this one all the way to my soul. These days I don''t hear many things that move me the way this performance did. Thanks Tedeschi Trucks Band.
Oh my God, love that bluesy slide guitar too!!! He slides it so sexy & perfectly... I'm feeling the sexy blues at 5:15am... Thank you Susan & your awesome band... Long live Susan Tedeschi music... Velva Hot Lips from Santa Fe, N.Mexico 6-19-16
I just saw them for the first time in Savannah Ga (Jan 29 2017), i was amazed, every one of them are incredibly talented. have wanted to see them and finally have, if i died tonight i would die happy. simply amazing!
I was in the most high energy revival tent in the land by the middle of this wonderful tune ... Tedeschi's vocals captured every lyrical rise and fall of the best revivalist preacher - with the band pushing her higher and higher. What a performance. I don't know how Cocker sustained his voice thru this song when he sang it, ... no idea how Tedeschi does here either. No human set of vocal chords can survive this, surely ... but, thankfully, they do in a few blessed souls on this Earth (and at least one no longer on it).
This video brings back the great memory of seeing them perform this in person. We were way back in the balcony, good acoustics, wow, what a song, what a performance, what an outpouring of emotion that wrapped up the crowd and took us to a better place. I'm looking forward to seeing them again!!!
Oh my Susan, you are so fabulously bluesy and talented!!! I love you & your total band!!! Please come to N.Mexico & play your incredible music....... You rocked this song completely!!! You are my #1 bluesy singer... I love to play my Harmonica with you & your music... I've been playing my Harmonica for over 48 years... Velva Hot Lips from Santa Fe, N.Mexico 6-19-16
i heard them yesterday on radio caroline now have ordered 2 albums and will see them in London this year just amazing just so perfect the TTB Band perfection!! and as for Layla revisited mind blowing!!
The Great Susan Tedechi! There are many like her but there is only one authentic voice in a class by herself.

Derek Trucks leaves everybody else for dead. The most exciting guitarist I've heard since Jimi Hendrix in 1966.
@@petegilgan6217 never saw Stevie have you!! Derek is a great slide player. So is Bonnie Raitt.

Probably the best American rock band touring. Carrying the torch for the roots tradition.
They are the best American rock band touring! I'm from their hometown of Jacksonville, we are so proud of TTB!
Well, you seem to don't know this guy covering this song : th-cam.com/video/VhfdDlkavAA/w-d-xo.html

I think Blackberry Smoke is right up there with them. And the two touring together??? Magnificent show here in St Pete

Derek is one of the best guitarists today and somewhere in the top 50 of all time.

Uber. I agree. It's a real challenge to sing and Susan nails it.
Best female blues singer since Janis, IMO.
Add Aretha.
+Fred Bassett u must be the nearest warehouse of information huh grasshopper?

Beth Hart, Joss Stone, Bonnie Rait ?
Aretha is on another level, like Ella Fitzgerald or Billie Holiday
Reminds me of Bonnie!

Best performance of this song since Joe Cocker on the "Mad Dogs and Englishmen" tour!
Thanks so much!!
Jimmy Page is the guitarist on Joe Cocker's recording.
Holy shit...Susan really gives 110% in this performance.

Such a powerful voice and yet when she speaks she sounds so gentle and sweet......what a sound they produce.
Yup. "Gentle and sweet" pretty well nails it. And she looks more like a soccer mom than a rock star. LOL But that girl can SING!!!
I said just yesterday that her speaking voice is more first grade teacher than soul and blues goddess. She’s a rare talent.
@@ryanhallwrites Her speaking voice is tiny. Susan brings it when she sings though.
Brought tears to my eyes, thinking of you Joe.
Yup outta sight very nice .

I find it both interesting and delicious that they took their cues from Joe Cockers read of this classic....Great share!

Joe Cocker ???? Don't you mean Lennon/McCartney???

In honour of Joe! Susan, the best singer of XXI Century!
Susan sounded great and Derek's smooth solo was like he was stroking the guitar as it was part of him. They sounded tight
If only Susan T would put a little feeling into it....lol HOLY SHIT>GIRL CAN SING>
Goosebumps a plenty, that lady can sing.
Unfreaking-believable!!!
Felt liked i was back in the 70s again. I knowJoe is watching. Great Job T.T.B. Please come to Baton Rouge LA!!!!!!

Takes serious guts to cover Joe's version of this tune. Nicely done by the TTB as usual.
And, kudos to the cat with the camera. Good job
