- Actress Pauley Perrette's character from the series "NCIS," Forensic Specialist Abby Sciuto, is one of the best-loved crimefighters on TV. But now, Pauley's decided to leave the show, and after 15 years, she's having a hard time letting go. Correspondent Tracy Smith talks with Perrette about life beyond Abby - from her long fascination with criminal science, to the more than two dozen charities which she supports, including her pet charity, the Amanda Foundation, a non-profit animal rescue in Beverly Hills.

I always wanted to be a forensic/ criminal scientist but they didn't have femals in that. Now that they do I'm 65 so I missed my calling. I read. CSIs started it and NCISs have continued it. I just love it.

Including the five women who gathered around me in a shoe store in my home town like a coven of witches gathering with no words being said . I was scared shitless and left the store.

I stopped watching as much when Cote left. I couldn't imagine the team without Ziva. Then Michael left for Bull and I lost even more interest. Now that Pauleys leaving I honestly don't think I can watch it at all. I've never had a favorite character, it's always been about the chemistry and the team as a whole that I loved about the show.

The last episode I watched was her final episode. For me, that is when the show went off the air. I miss Abby.

Change is inevitable... even in the make believe world of Hollywood. I too miss Abby but the cast is ever-evolving and has come together very nicely. I'm not throwing the baby out with the bath water.
NCIS isn't the same with out Abby, but I understand why she felt like it was time to step away. The main thing my wife and I loved about her was the way she showed the world's young girls you can do anything no matter who you are or what you believe, and also sometimes there was still a little kid in that brilliant person!!! Definitely going to miss her!!!
I actually stopped watching it after she left, smh, it lost it's charm. The show hasn't been the same after both Michael Weatherly and now Pauley left.

What a beautiful voice she has! Raspy and controlled and beautiful! Sad to see Abby go-she is hands down my favorite character, with Ziva and Gibbs tied for second. Abby truly modeled and embodied what a smart, successful, powerful but humble, hard working, kind, thoughtful, passionate, funny, brave, loyal, generously charitable, faithful, animal loving and people loving, and devoted woman looks like! And the actress behind Abby, Pauley, embodies the same passion, intelligence, generosity, kindness, love, humility, power and success, amongst other things, and I cannot wait to see her next project! 2 days before Halloween I went to the fabric store and saw her there! I went up to say hi and it was a clerk dressed up as Abby! Even had the neck tattoo... 😄
My mother just absolutely loved her Character and my mother could be a very hard critic at times. there was either love or can't stand with her, but the moment she seen Pauley's character Abbey there was no changing her mind Even through her sickness with dementia and eventual passing she never forgot that Character and loved to watch her act.
Every time I see the commercial for Pauley's last episode's I start crying. I don't know if I can watch without breaking down in tears. I'm glad Pauley is doing something new and exciting with her life.

She has played the role of Abby for near two decades. I wouldn't blame her if she wanted a change of pace and routine. Well-deserved definitely! Only a handful of scripted TV shows have lasted this long, still going, and that includes those boring soap operas.

pauley was my weekly shot of hope of humanity. her giving smile lit the stage far more than any star, her ability to take goth to a classic as audrey hepburn's lil black dress in breakfast at tiffany's was so convincing. pauley david & mike were the main reasons i watch the show. david is still a hunk at any age
I have friends who cannot understand why I "don't want to get married again? Aren't you LONELY??" No. No, I do not, no I am not. Single doesn't mean dead, or hermit, or pyscho. It just means some people are okay being by themselves. Good for her. She is a fantastic role model for girls. Awesome. I'll miss Abby too, she made that show for me. Thanks for the memories, Pauley.

Oh Snap!!! I've always loved your character and now so enjoy hearing your real world! My dogs are my life also and with them I find no desire to pursue a partnership with anyone else. They just love me for who I am, make me laugh milk from my nose often , and never ask more of me than I can give. Namaste Ms . Perrette , may you next journey be of your happiness and peace.

I didn't watch a lot of NCIS but when I did Abby was my favorite character. I remember one episode near the end she kept asking Gibbs if she could "Deck" this guy. She was like "please let me hit him." Gibbs kept saying just a moment. Well finally the "prep" said something and Gibbs went "Abby." and Abby punched the "prep" directly in the face and he went down. It was above all my favorite Abby Scene. very sad she is leaving no one will ever replace her but they have to get some one to put in her spot

What a beautiful human being Pauley Perrette is. I am on my fourth round of NCIS. I love all the characters, but Pauley is my favorite. I always felt she was beautiful, inside and out, and by what I just saw on this video, I was 100% right.

The only reason I continued watching NCIS after both Tony and Ziva’s characters left was because Abby, McGee and Palmer were still there. Now that Pauli is leaving I’m done. There have been too many changes too quickly and none of them have been for the better. The producers of this show made a HUGE mistake not paying Cote dePablo what she was worth - the show went totally downhill after she left. Even Tony’s character lost his fun side after Ziva was gone. Ducky (another of my long time favorites on the show) left with barely a word. Over time, Abby has become less “goth” and more like everybody else. Part of what made Abby’s character as fun as she was is that she was not only a brilliant young woman, but also a very unique person and thinker. Those characters that are left just aren’t enough to hold the show together any more now that Pauli is leaving.
Pauli, wherever you are going and whatever you’ll be doing, you’ll be greatly missed, You made your fans smile for many years, now go take the time you need and want to find your smile! You’ve earned quality time with your four-legged babies (I’m a huge animal lover too).☺️ Don’t totally disappear - PLEASE!!!

Thanks Brian. I haven’t seen him in so long I thought he left and I missed it. I’d read that he was talking about leaving the show so I thought he decided to go. The last I saw of him on the show his character had been offered a teaching job at a university and he was taking an indefinite leave of absence from autopsy. It feels like everybody is jumping ship...
Marie Butler-Goble right now in the story line Ducky is writing a book about many of the cases he worked on as an ME (medical examiner). his assistant on the book was shown in one of the episodes. AND sheis a lot like Abby. Her degree is even in forensic science. If they replace Abby then I think she should be the one to replace Abby.
But if coarse NO ONE can really replace Abby.
I think I saw either in an interview on TH-cam or in an article on an entertainment magazine (one that actually reports instead of makes up news), that they offered Cote de Pablo a lot to stay, but some people gave her the David Caruso treatment and convinced her there was a movie career out their with her name on it.
You're such a great role model for many. We're gonna miss you....we need you back soon.

It was hard to lose Kate, the cast was great,...but it was hard not to like Ziva and truly love her, so when she left, that was really hard, and I knew it was going to suck when DiNozzo left, but they did such a sad/happy episode for his last one. Finding out that Ziva had been killed when a bomb hit where she lived but a child survived, named Talli (not sure I spelled that right) and in Vance's office, came someone with a stroller. That was when we all thought a moment about the connection, and it was finally known that Tony and Ziva had sex at least once, lol. So him leaving "to take care of his daughter" there were tears, but some happy and some sad. Now Abby is leaving and I see Ducky as well. I've been wondering since he has been absent for so many episodes. But after all, he's not a kid anymore. I'm glad we've had such a great show for so many years.
I wish NCIS was on while I was in school. Abby would make me want to stay awake in science and stay in school!

In the roll of Abby she will be missed by so many of us but being the woman she is in real life makes her a champion of champions with her incredible drive and love of life itself. On top of that a fellow Alabamian proud of her roots in life as well as the ups and downs. We will no doubt see her accomplishing even more than she has already in life.

Melinda Kinnaird ; she also appeared, briefly, on an episode on the first season of 24. She played a beautician who picked up Jack Bauers wife ( played by Leslie Hope, who played as the Sec Nav on NCIS) who was wandering around with amnesia.
Yeah I remember her being on the show was the episode where Catherine Willows ex-husband Eddie if I say anymore want to spoil it for anybody who's never seen it but she was terrific in it
She also worked in he coffee shop on Frasier and appeared on "The Drew Carey Show" as a groupie when his band played gigs at the airport.
Every time I see the interviewer, I think of high school and watching Channel One News before first period back in the early 2000s

Well, that's been said every time there has been even a minor change. Hasn't real!y happened yet.
Gonna plummet? They started as soon as ziva left and slowly got worse once Tony left. This show isn't the powerhouse it once was. Not even a top 5 most watched on CBS anymore. It's still on air because it gets slightly over there bare minimum of viewers per episode. Personally I think it went south when Tony left and bishop became the new main focus when Gibbs isn't around. Tim should of been team leader when Gibbs went down not her. Tim is like a background character again. I hate how they've treated him in terms of screen time. I dont mind bishop but I'm not a big fan either. It's just like there forcing her on us to show she's the new second in command even though that should go to Tim who is the senior field agent after Gibbs. It's a sad thought knowing if Gibbs ever leaves the show and they decide to keep it going without a doubt bishop will be the new lead instead of Tim.
Oh.. That's sad. I'll miss her because she's one of my favorite characters

Gorden Wood I agree. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to watch it with Abby gone. Too many people who have made NCIS what it is have left. I mean, I do like Bishop and Torres, but it just isn’t the same without Tony and Ziva. The team was absolutely perfect with them on it.
it's time to cancel NCIS before it becomes another Law & Order.
I love Mark Harmon and Sean Murray but they just can’t carry the show alone. David Maccallum is all but retired now and I adore Brian Dietzen as Palmer but he just isn’t Ducky. The show is nearly done and it’s had a great run.
Yeah i still enjoy it. But it should have ended a while back.
