I know Darmstadt well. I lived there for 3 years in the early 60"s during my military time. I have been back many times over the years with my German wife of 50 years. I have had the unique opportunity to have witnessed its growth in intermittent intervals. I remember the Luisen Centre being built during the hot summer of 1974. Formerly it was an open grass park. Under the Luisen Centre is several levels of auto parking. The entrance to the parking garage is via tunnels on the outskirts of the downtown, as the downtown is pretty much a pedestrian zone.

It's a shame that it's only the city center, that's the ugliest thing about Darmstadt, the Mathildenhöhe is very beautiful, the Rosenhöhe there Oberwaldhaus and and and but you really don't want to see the ugly city center, but still a very successful video

Good to see my hometown, but I wouldn't call this a "walking tour " when you walk half a mile up and down the same street. There is much more to see.
