yup, congrats to Alex Diab for his 10 on high bar. I was there at the WSC for the 50 year reunion. had a great time, saw a lot of old friends. Keep the legacy going guys.
There was a perfect 10 in the Minnesota State High school Gymnastics championship in 1959, on parallel bars. Joe Lagerbauer scored 100 on PB 99.5 on HB 98 on both vault and Free Ex. Those were the only events he did. Most talented gymnast I ever saw, never competed in college at U of Minnesota. a real shame.
Dude, Josh Levin is one of my coaches! He's been out of practice ever since he broke his back competing for University of Michigan about 5 or 6 years ago, but he can still do a lot of amazing tricks. That news report was from 1996, and if I remember correctly he did get a scholarship to do NCAA gymnastics. He coaches at GymNasti now, where I work out, along with former US National team member Ron Nasti.
Josh got a full ride to Michigan and was ranked first in NCAA on horse his freshman year. Plus this report is from his junior year because thats when he go this 10.
Hey! That's sweet! Every day I become more and more proud to say that I go to Glenbard West, because of new stories I hear like this. :) What year was this anyways? I probably could find him on one of the walls in Biester Gym somewhere, but that might take a while... (Everyone that's EVER qualified for State in any sport from West is put on the wall like that... so that'd take a while to find, considering probably about 65 years, once taking pictures became common). Thanks for sharing this! :)
Hey Josh, I hope you don't mind that i put this up. I put a few old VHS tapes on to DVD for Kafka and i decided to share a little history with the world. For all the horse guys out there. -Greg S.
