"La Forge Aux Étoiles" (The Star Machine) - An aquatic show created by Cirque du Soleil and 45 DEGREES for the "Futuroscope" amusement park in Paris, France. Presented from April 9, 2016 to December 23, 2020 and directed by Bastien Alexandre.
SHOW PLOT:
On a stormy night, Nebula, an 18-year-old girl, runs away from home to visit her star friend in Futuroscope: The Giant. There, among the whispering trees and the glitter of the water under the storm, he is building a machine that will allow him to travel through space and discover his true origin, since he has lost his memory. Since his crash on Earth, he remembers absolutely nothing of his life before that moment, but he has found in Nebula a loyal and brave friend.
He is, in reality, a shooting star, although his inner ignorance leads him to deny it. However, Nebula has always been by his side, helping him discover his true self. Tonight, they decide to embark on an extraordinary journey into interstellar space using the Great Star Machine, which is capable of running on intergalactic radio waves.
In an instant, they both soar into the cosmos, passing by comets, wandering asteroids, and galactic pulsars. Their first destination is Radio Galaxy, a towering galaxy that emits powerful radio waves. They land at the grand station of DJ Galaxie, a space reporter who uses these waves to transmit news and messages.
At the station, they question DJ Galaxie about the Giant's origins, claiming that they come from Earth and are looking for answers. DJ Galaxie, though impressed, cannot help them directly. However, he suggests they visit the Great Void of Bouvier and find more answers about the Giant's cosmic history.
Excited, they both set off again, sailing through the universe towards Bouvier's Great Void, a place of incredible silence. Upon arrival, they meet the imposing Mr. Bouvier, a wise cosmic being and wandering creator of shooting stars, who immediately recognizes the Giant. He reveals to them that he created him as a shooting star and that he comes from the Andromeda galaxy.
With this revelation, they both decide to travel to Andromeda, warned by Bouvier about the supermassive black hole at its center and reminded them to never lose faith. They sail through space, passing through asteroids, wandering planets, massive stars and neutron stars, until they reach the Andromeda galaxy.
There, a celestial being of imposing presence, Andromeda, reveals to them that she is the Giant's mother. Between tears of happiness, she can finally remember her life before Earth. But Andromeda realizes that she cannot stay, as a supermassive black hole has taken her heart and threatens to devour everything around her.
Unable to return to Earth on her own, Nebula remembers Mr. Bouvier's words: Shooting stars are made of the particles of the universe and can grant wishes. Although the Giant continues to deny it, Andromeda reveals that his journey has transformed him into a shooting star capable of granting wishes. But before they can do anything, the black hole's gravity catches them.
In a final act of faith, Nebula makes a wish to return to Earth. Amidst the chaos and danger, the Giant's magic activates.
Back on Earth, Nebula finds herself safe in Futuroscope, but the Giant is not with her. Just as she begins to fear the worst, a shooting star crashes on the grounds of Futuroscope and reveals the Giant, safe and sound.
He confirms that Nebula's wish has been granted and that, thanks to the black hole's absorption of stellar matter, she now possesses star dust. With this dust and the star machine, they will be able to create more shooting stars and allow everyone to make wishes. He names the machine: "La Forge Aux Étoiles" (The Star Machine).
DJ Galaxie, from his station, broadcasts the great news of the restoration of balance in the universe. A great celebration takes place in Futuroscope on Earth, full of joy and hope. Finally, Nebula says goodbye to her great friend, promising that they will soon meet again, while La Forge Aux Étoiles shines in all its splendor.
