Am new to felting and a recent subbie to your channel and whilst I wanted to comment about how cute these little gnomes are and such fun, I also wanted to say how much I agree with your statement about comparisons. I've fallen foul of that little demon in my head that tells me I'll never be good enough, having looked at all the amazing makes that experienced felters have created and it really does take away the joy of learning something new. I am looking forward to the journey and will be setting aside time to binge watch your channel :)
Thanks so much for your lovely comments. I have a new video going out later which really addresses the comparison trap in more depth. I hope it helps inspire you to just keep making. Happy felting!❤
@barbaraproscia3275 So pleased. I love to try and give people the confidence to try a new craft. Starting is usually the hardest part. After that, it gets so much easier 😊
Thank you! That was fun! But if that's a super easy starter I have to get in a lot of practice! Your instructions were very clear with the added bonus of lots of tips and tricks.
Thanks so much. Practice is what it is all about, but the first one teaches you so much in such a short time. Now, for your next one with all the techniques you have learned. There is also a great beginners playlist plus my needle felting blog at: www.needlefeltingtutorials.co.uk ❤
Very fun tutorial/project. Also I appreciate your advice as far as comparing a project to someone elses. Its true that it can be a little disheartening and it can take away from your creative flare. Love your videos. 😄
Thanks Sandy , loved this quick project. Couldnt quite get the beard. Like you said ...did my own thing. Great wee extra gift. What is the best way to attach for a key ring
@lindamoir4885 Thank you so much, Linda! The beauty of needle felting is how adaptable it is, and you'll be able to refine that beard in your next project as you'll know exactly what to tweak. For keyrings, I'd recommend ensuring the tip of the hat is felted firmly and sewing the keyring securely in place. You could go for a shorter hat and attach the keyring to the back of the body (where the hat joins) for extra stability. Make sure the body is nice and firm, and it should hold up beautifully! 🥰
@Jayne-xb5sr Thanks do much. I usually just felt a little soft ball of wool and felt it onto the end. However, if you have a pre-made pompom you can sew it on directly
@@Jayne-xb5sr It takes a little more work but mine have been stuck on the end of the scarf tubing for a couple of years now. You could always add a couple of stitches to secure; especially useful if they are gifts or for craft fairs. ☺
I couldn’t get dimensions right. Body too small, nose too big , hat not wide enough. I found it hard to roll the nose and attach hat.certainly wouldn’t stand up. I guess practice makes perfect.f
@christineBassett-m7c Practice truly makes all the difference! It’s great that you already know what you’d tweak-this shows just how much you’ve learned from such a small project. The next one will feel so much easier now that you’ve had some hands-on experience with the wool and felting needles. Working on smaller pieces can be more challenging, but it’s a great way to build skills. I have lots of tutorials on my channel that can help you refine your technique. Needle felting is such a forgiving craft, and I have a box full of unused pieces waiting to be repurposed into new projects. If you have any questions, I’m always here to help. Thank you so much for sharing how you got on! 🥰
You are so encouraging to us newbies. Thank you!!

Loved that tutorial, learnt a lot, what’s the best way to attach a pom Pom to the hat, I’m not sure I’ve done mine right?

Hi sandy, what’s the best way to attach a curly beard? X
