The explorer was a surprise gift from lzzy hale when on tour with the warning, given to dany on stage during a guitar change… one of the greatest moments in dany’s life. Not what dany would choose but she rocks the guitar out of love for Lzzy

There are videos of Lzzy Hale appearing between a song, kneeling and presenting the Gibson Explorer to Dany on stage. Dany playing the guitar for the first time perfectly. You can see the effect of the audience enthusiasm to each sister. Dany’s face just comes alive. Ale’s slightest flick of the hair and shrug of the shoulder can elicit roars from the crowd, and she knows it! Pau takes command of the crowd like a boss, but the crowd has often made Pau tear up because of their enthusiasm. Your big smile and bobbing your head to each The Warning song, keep doing what you’re doing.

A few have mentioned that the Explorer that Dany is playing was a gift from Lzzy Hale ( which it was) but in fact there is a whole backstory there. It was actually the fulfillment of a promise that a much younger Lzzy made in 2006. Early in Halestorm’s career, they were opening for Shinedown, Lzzy broke a string mid-show, and had no replacement. Jasin Todd, then guitarist with Shinedown, handed her one to use. After their set she went to return it to Jasin. He told her that the guitar was hers, he had bought it as a gift because she was such a fresh inspiration to him. She asked what she could do in return. He told her to “pay it forward, someday when you find a young guitarist who inspires you, do the same”. Sixteen years later, in Dany, Lzzy saw the opportunity to fulfill her promise. Dany has promised to do the same someday.

I never get tired of hearing this story. Lizzy Hale is a rock legend, getting that gift from her had to leave a powerful impression on Dany, I have no doubt that a talented (and fortunate) guitarist will be the benefactor of a similar gift in the future.

As far as live goes The Warning ladies say they love performing live, that it makes what they do worth it. I think that they have so much experience (even though they are still quite young) and practice so hard that when they are on stage it almost becomes automatic for them...

  • @ZWQ945
    @ZWQ945 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +11

It's not their style to go off. AS is a fave of mine. It is also their favorite from the KMF album and their favorite to play live. "Ugh" is off of their second studio album "Queen of the Murder Scene." Say what you want musically and instrumentally. I've heard a little Cattle Decap on WSOU Seton Hall Pirate Radio. Not too familiar with them but they do go heavy and hard.
I'm going to suggest an older song from a concert they performed in 2015 in front of their school. The song is "River Soul" live @ Liceo. They performed this song for David Ellefson, who was one of their music instructors and Alejandra's bass instructor when they attended the Berklee College of Music summer session in 2015.
Some trivia about "Ugh": They said in VLOG it was the hardest song for them get right on the "QOTMS" album. They went through some 20 versions with different lyrics, melodies, etc. before finally settling on this one. In fact they were still finishing the song while they were in the studio recording. Two songs were created from all the throw aways from "Ugh", "The One" and "The Sacrifice", both of which are tracks on "QOTMS." "Ugh" started with a riff on guitar. Daniela was playing around in their home studio, "The Warning Cave", when this riff just came to her and they built the song from there. The song was going to begin with the riff on guitar but they switched it to the bass. Also, this was originally written for Alejandra's 4 string bass, so she had to make adjustments for it to be played on her 5 string. When they were happy with the song and it came time to name the track, they couldn't come up with an appropriate title so they left it "Ugh" because every time they went to work on the song they would utter, "Ugh" out of frustration.

The weight of Dany's original Gibson Les Paul was one of the reasons she changed guitars. She is only 5'2" or 5'3" so she is a small person to support the weight of a heavy guitar. That's what she said was one of the reasons she said she likes PRS because they are light.

    *Ugh*
*Ugh* is the 3rd song on the "Queen of the Murder Scene" (aka QOTMS) album released in 2018 when DPA/TW were an independent band... QOTMS is a concept album that tells a story from the first song to the last... hearing the album out of order makes it hard to follow the story... like reading a book's chapters out of order...
two other original songs, *The One* and *The Sacrifice* , were spawned from *Ugh* ... *Ugh* was the working title because it was a hard one, they really had to work on it, and they actually wanted to shelve it... thankfully their father kept after them to complete it... they were like "ugh! do we have to?" and *Ugh* stuck as the official name, too... the result is great!
this is one of their songs that you might want to think twice about playing when you are driving 😹
Fun Fact: one of their songs has/had the working title of "Gracias"... "Gracias" is short for "Gracias, K-Pop" which is a salute from them to the K-Pop genre which has some influences on their sound and style... when they are playing, sometimes Ale will ask which song is up next and she'll get the answer "Gracias" which she knows that song by instead of its official song title...

I am easily amused by the three of them and I got a kick out of Ale talking about Dany getting her picks. I don't know where that video is anymore. It was just a little aside, probably somewhere on patreon which is something I really seldom even look at anymore. Just when I was first learning about them I watched a lot of their vlogs and their monthly chats. Haven't even logged in for them for quite a while. But it was one of the few times that I actually heard Ale be a little irritated by her sister. Just a funny sibling thing to me.

The Pol'and Rock festival show was filmed by a Polish TV station that holds the copyright and enforces it pretty vigorously.
There are always seem to be a few folks who aren't happy, but as you say most of us are just happy to get your thoughts. While no one is required to like everything, a considered explanation is always appreciated.
Pirates! Heehee. 😊"Ugh" is the lament of a girl who has a crush on a boy who doesn't return the feeling. "I don't want to understand, I just want to hold your hand." It's off their 2nd album, writeen when they were teens. Other songs from Teatro Met concert are off their third album, while "Automatic Sun", "Sharks", and other recent songs are from their fourth album. Each album had a different producer.
The Warning goes on stage intent on having fun. It's obvious that they do. And if someone messes up, they tease get teased about it, even in the middle of it. And the fans love it.
They use backing tracks and are up front about it. "Automatic Sun" is the band's favorite.

The guitar is actually special made with all the things Dany prefers (strings, humbuckers...) and gifted to Dany by Lzzy Hale mid show as TW was opening for Halestorm. Lizzy was so inspired she told her band they had to practice some more because The Warning was so good! Fun fact. They wanted to scrap this song because they didn´t feel like it would mount to anything, but their father made them work on it and then they all said "UGH" and worked to the end. They tried to make it longer but it did not work, so they let it be what it was. In the work with this they came up with two more songs.

If you do react to the song, "Error," be sure to watch how Ale bounces between using her fingers and a pick back and forth several times. It's a fun tidbit in that live performance because she wants it to sound like the studio recording how she did it there. Ale starts playing bass with her fingers, then grabs a pick and plays for a portion of the song that way until she tosses it away to play with fingers again. Then she snatches another pick to play for a short bit and then she quickly "palms" the pick to play with fingers again and then quickly reproduces the pick from her palm to play with pick again. She has to do the "slight-of-hand" palming thing with the pick because she doesn't have time to grab a fresh one. She said it isn't truly hard to do, but it always makes her a bit nervous that she is going to goof and drop it. It's the song that flips between her using a plectrum and her fingers more than any other.

"Queen of the Murder Scene" is a concept album released in 2018 when Ale was 13, Pau was 16, and Dany was 18. The album tells the story of a young woman’s descent into obsession, murder, and madness, exploring her internal struggle between light and darkness.
"Ugh," the third track on the album, captures the protagonist’s growing frustration and helplessness as her unreciprocated love becomes overwhelming. She feels trapped by the intensity of her emotions, unable to suppress them, and the song reflects the internal tension building as she struggles to control her feelings.
According to their vlogs, the band had difficulty finalizing "Ugh." They experimented with different structures and melodies, but none felt right until they stripped it back to its simplest form. The title itself was inspired by their frustration during the writing process. Despite the challenges, the final version of "Ugh" captures the chaotic energy they were aiming for and became a key moment in the protagonist's journey.

But instead of a handful of songs at a gig, with some of them like a stuck needle trying to extend too much, TW give you song after song leaving you wanting even more after a 90/120 minute set. I hold my pick with three fingers too... yeah, we're weirdos... and you are right, James Hetfield plays that way too. Dany doesn't... she picks with two. At this point, she was playing with those insanely thick (3mm) Big Stubby picks from Dunlop... they even have an indent where you can put your thumb. She's crazy, though... those picks are FAR too thick to play rock with, in my opinion. She has since (since this performance) moved to a thinner pick and even commented that she wished she did so sooner. I think her solos have improved since then.

One of my favorite. I prefer the Lunario version, though.

That Explorer was actually a gift from Lzzy Hale when they were on tour with Halestorm. Dany plays with it, especially when they do "Enter Sandman" live, but it is a bit heavy for her and she has back issues. Dany also used to play with a Les Paul and moved away from it because of weight, amongst other reasons; remember that Dany is a petite woman. I think the Explorer has since been sort of "retired" from live performances... for one, it is just another guitar to transport on tour... taking up room, but I think the heaviness was a factor in her not using it live recently.

I agree that both the outro and the into could be stretched. Dany plays James Hetfield style with downstrokes, but unlike James, Ale is the timekeeper.
They may find their way into more metal, but they are Maiden style prog metal, if you want to put them into the metal world.
Un-fun fact. The Warning have trolls that follow them just to be jerks. They have nothing constructive to say. They're just sad little incels.
If you are ever at a metal show in Atlanta, I might see you. Caught Jinjer on their way through. RIP Trevor from Black Dahlia Murder. Good dude, great band.
Metal forever, but TW scratches my old rock love.

The thing is we "musicians" appreciate going "Ham", but TW sticks to studio click tracks and backing tracks. Every live performance is therefore identical, year in, year out. It fits the intended audience. IME, there is nothing better than a good song getting some extended tweaks. It's more of a unique experience and that's what I hope for in a live performance.

Given that the ladies have all said that "Automatic Sun" was their favorite from Keep Me Fed , its entirely possible that they may write more in that direction. But it really depends on what Pau is vibing on when they get around to writing the next album. Since they enjoyed writing with outside folks so much it will also depend on who Lava and Rudy come up with. And do they use Anton again or pick a new producer. Again Lava and Rudy.

I heard that, Pau doesn’t have enough pick up under her ride, her bell hits are never heard. I noticed it awhile back and I can’t figure out why…I’ve seen here hit that bell many times but I did hear it clearly in one MTV vids and it kicks ass…

I’m the one who commented on Cattle Decapitation, listened to their latest album. Vocals are still lost on me…. Oh well, we are different minds listening. The music did invite me to write my own lyrics…. Which I find interesting…. Let me know if I’m full of shit!
    Entering the Atmosphere
    I’m here
    Circling earth
    Object in the sky
    Vessel in conjunction
    I’m a weapon
    Caught in the night sky
    A light in dark
    Mistaken for a star
    Venus in the horizon
    My weapons armed
    Arming the mind
I circle ready for the fire
    Fire of the atmosphere
A ember in the night sky
The flame of our true existence
    Entering the atmosphere
    Burning across the stars
    My sparks of entry
    Laid across the horizon
    I’m a falling star
    Wishing for your salvation
A comet of ice facing the end
    I enter the atmosphere
    Ghost of our future dominion
    The past is absolute
    Our future is our faith
The ones just now entering the atmosphere

Since you keep bringing it up... Perspectives. For the most part, fans are following the videos. A smaller percentage may be your followers and may be interested in your criticisms of music that you react to, but by far, it's a transient audience of a fan base that are just following the videos to hopefully see someone get as excited as they are about their favorite band(s). While I haven't personally gotten upset with your comments, I did find some to be unnecessary.. Like, who cares what you would have rather done with a transition to the chorus or whatever. The fans watching love it as is. You have a whole bunch of videos with less than 100 views, whereas the warning videos are in the thousands. So, (with a few exceptions), the fans aren't here for you the reactor, they're here to support you in your musical discovery and share in that excitement of their favorite band. So consider that you're not giving a presentation to a generic audience on music theory or song writing where you may compare and contrast or whatever... you're speaking to the actual fan base. There are channels that do some fantastic analysis of the warning songs already. Like Phil Zero, and various vocal coaches without resorting to low effort, "i would have done it like this"

So because the way I word things and my low view count on other vids means Im putting in low effort?

    • @R2robot
      @R2robot 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@rockdariff I mean, it comes across as an off-handed and unnecessary.. Low-effort in comparison to say a PHil Zero analysis of their music. (you should watch one or two) it's a different style of reaction. But again.. Like, let's invite Taylor Swift fans to the house for a party, then then make comments about what we don't like about her music or what we would have done differently. It's probably not going to go over very well. lol You can do analysis/breakdowns, etc if that's what you want to do. But, IMO, trying to mix that in with a reaction video is probably going to go as it has been. Upsetting to some.. which leads to you addressing it at that start of multiple videos now. You seem to be as caught up by the reaction to your comments as the people are to you making them. So what do you do? Keep bringing it up? Change your style? Ignore it? *shrugs* I only brought it up, because you did.. again.

@ well saying it that way I was invited by some to check out the warning, all the tracks I check out react/review are requests from people who visit the channel and like how I go about making vids…and i read every comment and like I say most people are really kool and I learn new things but you saying Im low effort compared to other channels is the only issue I have…I never attack anyone I just speak from the knowledge I have and the likes/dislikes in my taste of music

    • @R2robot
      @R2robot 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@rockdariff I think you misunderstood what I said. I didn't say your videos were low effort. I used to make content/vlogs on another channel.. I understand the effort it takes to put out videos and put yourself 'out there'. The context of my 'low effort' comment was directed solely at your criticisms (or your opinions) that you mentioned some people have taken exception to. Here is what I said with context. "There are channels that do some fantastic analysis of the warning songs already. Like Phil Zero, and various vocal coaches without resorting to low effort, "i would have done it like this""

@@rockdariff Most fans are of course here to hear what you think about the songs, and that includes what you think could have been played differently. Many of us feel like these sisters grandparents and some might even feel upset about a comment that you make in a video, but don’t get your panties in a twist because of that. Just accept that all people have different opinions about things and we all need to accept this. It will be like telling religious people that god is a fairy tale. It''s no use discusssing with them about that other than stating that you will continue to state your opinions in your videos and that they have to learn to live with that.

OK, so I play ukulele not guitar. However, when I do use a pic -which is not super often -I use three fingers as well. I just feel like I have more control with it and I feel like with two fingers , I’ll just drop it or something but everyone’s different
Also, please just ignore the toxic Warning - they bite anyone who doesn’t think every single song isn’t the greatest in the world. I don’t necessarily always agree with your opinions but we just have different preferences. For example, I’m not really into heavy or thrash metal but it doesn’t mean I’m disrespecting their music. Same with you. You haven’t said anything offensive and if they’re butt hurt, they can go cry in the corner.
