A giant pipe wrench and 2 narrow strips of 1/4" plate act as a great brake in a pinch.
Loving the videos. Keep it up!
You guys are great!! Very respectful, very informative and I love the fact that u improvise when u need to get something done and u don’t have exactly what u need! Not many people your age can do that now days!!
Love watching you work. Your explanations are understandable for new metal workers.
Jk Canvas thanks man I’m trying I want everyone to build there own bed and hopefully this helps
I’m still using my first welding truck. I put it together for $5000 including buying the truck a few years ago. Have updated a few things. Nice video
Liking the bed build and the bobbed truck. You make it look easy. I’m going to build my first soon and have learned some tips from your vid.
Keep up the great work!
NICE!!!! Just motivated me to rip the back end off my truck and build a rig!!
awesome I've been waiting for this.im not a pipeline welder but love building trucks.im a operator and excavation company foreman.the positivity you have I've been taking to my jobs .appreciate the channel!!! have a great night!!
Lance Hess lance thank you very much sir. It really does mean a lot that the guys in charge see we are trying to make a difference. Be blessed
Loving the longer vids. Your also giving me great ideas on how I wanna set my rig up
whisker kings fishing I’m excited to one day get a picture of that bad boy
I was watching the dogs I didn’t hear a word you said lol just kidding great video but I like dogs as much as welding
7:04 “well you can’t have mine bitch, go get your own” lmfao
Hey great pointers thank you! Keep up the great work.
Man i would wish i could try to move to the US, im in weldingschool now here in denmark i hope i can get out on the rigs in Norway when im done, i have always just finded the US facinating and the nature. Awesome Videos Jacob !
When cutting plate steel. Get a length of angle iron and tac it down to the plate. Leave just enough room for your touch tip Tres against the angle for a straight edge. Make sure your touch is on the line . This will prevent your plate from warping and allow for a perfect straight cut
I bought one of those metal saws a few years back
I wouldn’t be without one again
@@frankrodriguez5417 They use carbide tipped blades & turn a slower RPM than a carpenter type circular saw. Evolution makes some as do other brands. I bought an Evolution chop saw, same type blade, & will never use abrasive blades again.
This right here is what I love to do when I'm on the road building something rather than sitting in the trailer doing nothing. Keep it up!
Hey brother thats rig is going to look bad ass let me know when its done i will go over there and airbrush some cool designs on it looking good keep on welding brother and be safe
Sergio Ramirez Sergio!!!!! You sir brush???? Where are you and I have some ideas!!! It’s super simple but should look good.
dogs in the back ground are great entertainment
I ordered a Milwaukee 8” metal saw Wednesday. Cant wait for it to come in
Great videos !!!
It's a very good idea to have an access panel above the in-tank fuel pump. It drastically reduces replacement time and you won't have to fight a full tank on a transmission jack etc because you can leave the tank in place. It'll save you considerable labor if you pay others to work on your vehicle.
Great Work!! thanks for the video!! Liked !!
I would like to see a video on your welding masks and why your use those over other hoods
Braiden Stauffer pancake hoods allow in zero light. Sunlight makes it hard to see because you get a reflection of your face on the inside. Jed and I have sarge hoods Jake has an empire south.
Who got distracted by the dogs throwing paws at each other 😂😂
Jacob Schofield I’m thinking about taking welding in high school next year do u think it’s worth it
@@claytonclark463 in my opinion, it's worth it. There is so much you can do if you know how to weld. You can work on the pipeline, make trailers, make boilers, make tables, etc there is literally over a thousand things you can do with a welder. Heck you can build fence and cattle pens, repair heavy equipment, do automotive body work the list just goes on. I would consider taking a welding class, especially if it is free.
Can u put a link to buy that saw and blade? I put a metal cutting wheel in a regular Makita Skil saw I have and it wasn't worth a fuck. I really really like this video man very happy you're doing this thank you.
Try putting a thick piece of aluminum clamped behind where you're cutting. It can be a heat sink and it will keep everything straight
What the thickness of the sheet, what amperage are you running, what size rod and kind of rod are you running?
I live in Laredo TX
Like the RV
One of the biggest questions growing up. Was how what kind of design and I knew every Rig welder needs to be able to build his Rig. My mind generator 160 Tig and Stick rig is comming to fruition. all I need to build furniture trailers farm Tig restaurant work ornamental gates. Especially truck repair. and panel work. Fir oilfield trucking. 120 amps 7018 all the way out. 130 for 5 p.
Jacob Schofield Working on my sled frame and boxes. Low in materials Tubing etc. but have my basic equipment. In the truck. Using Horse lick feed bins temporary boxes for now. But light and very handy. It us what I call the Mini Rig.
First off, Nice.
Next, 2nd gear 45 down to 35. What rod, and gauge/ thickness of that 5 sided box ? Thanks
Insurance is cheaper on that truck because it's not a one ton truck 😎 smart
One ton axle would've been better then some tiny wheel spacers !
I would have to use the death wheel to cut that stuff out. I cannot for the life of me make a straight cut with a skill saw. I could have a fence set up on each side of the saw and still end up cutting crooked.
Harland Gambill hahahahah lolfor sure man I know just what your saying
Ever reverse the leads on thin metal make stinger negative
What brand sunglasses are you wearing in the vid?
Hey by the way are you a union hand?
How does that gas truck do pulling a camper I’m thinking about selling my diesel and get a gasser
Are you planning on putting a leveling kit on that truck
Riley Poole you know I really do t k ow I know it needs some work on the front end so I just might
Where you get your welding hat?
When you grind for your break, how deep of a grind mark do you make sir. Thanks for the video
Danny Harvey about half or 2/3 metal thickness. If you go too little it just won’t bend.then go a little more.
What kinda grinders you use
What size rod did you use?
I wanna know what kinda glasses those are lol
Just curious how much money worth of steel you think you'll have in this bed
Can you do a video on 1g plate
Bevel, backing strip, 6010 root pass, 7018 filler & cap. Cut, grind, polish, and etch with naval jelly to see how you did. Holes, inclusions, undercut, arc strikes, or a void showing lack of penetration, and it's a fail.
Thickness of material is part of the test, too. 1/4" plate takes less time than 1/2" plate, and a lot less filler. But, whatever thickness you pass your certification on, any thickness under that is included in your certification for that position. I.E.- you don't have to take a 1/4" 1G plate test cert if you already have one for 1/2". Doesn't apply to hiring in though; you take whatever test they give you to get the job, whether you have the certification or not.
What type of truck?
Are you using a eighth inch grinding wheel to score your plate?
... personal opinion... you just shot the integrity of the floor of that box with all the slits... you gave it room to flex with the weight of 8 or 9 jack stands it will sag in the middle after a while and every time you throw one in if you don't place it in the Box so my personal opinion put some angle iron in and tack weld to the bottom plate and go up the side walls at least 1 inch
How much was all the materials?
i believe for this bed was around the 3500 or 4000 range im not 100% sure.
@@JacobSchofield thank you sir. I have a ram 2500 and I'ma do the dually conversation like you did with your gmc. I sure thank you for uploading videos like that if not I would end up getting a 60 thousand dollar truck
Say you had a 24 inch hole why not bring up half inchb out of floor or so so that way lid is a cap with sides harder for water and whole lid will push down on seal more weight just idea
Paul w because it is going to be where the dirty stuff goes anyways and no need for dry storage. Great way to do it like you said if that was your need.
Why the massive haz on that sheet? I've seen laser, plasma, and flame cut sheet but never with that much heat tint. Jw
Jeffry Shupert depends on the mill, ive seen it almost touch in the center
Didn’t even notice it tell you said something must justbof even the way they milled it.
Jacob Schofield gotcha. Thanks. Love your attitude and hard work man. I do food grade Stainless steel but was good (mediocre compared to you I'm sure) with pipe when i got my associates degree. Just have a family and young kids so i dont think without some stability i could even begin to find work in your field that could exceed my 45k current salary. But, much respect for you, and if only i had a friend like you. I'm the type that'll work 3 jobs and as hard as i can to achieve my goals. And it's good to see you're helping motivate others. Great job and best wishes to you!
It would have probably been better to have sealed the Box with door jamb liner it's a dollar a foot...
Jusmyname Adkins send me a picture of your welding bed so I can see what your talking about.
Jacob Schofield You're the Reason I'm even going into rig welding... I'm still looking for the right truck while waiting for my little girl to be born at the end of July
Brake that with a torch
Do u need to add a 32nd to the cut to Make up for the material you lose in the brake are is it to small of a thing to worry about
Harley I dont really worry about it but im sure if its procision stuff you would really need to do that.
Whos gonna use this rig?
No disrespect meant
Jusmyname Adkins no I totally understand that I just want to see what you are talking about. I think after you mentioned that I will go ahead andvthrough some angle iron on the bottom
Jacob Schofield I don't know how to send a link or screenshot on here so I sent it to your messenger
Just my two cents. One thing I’m noticing is your craftsmanship. My welding instructor once told me “make every weld like your life depends on it”. I like how you do it the right way, not necessarily the easiest way. You can teach a guy all day how to work, but teaching someone to take pride in what they do is where the real value is. You give us welders a good name man.
Adam Everitt youre right. Every weld is your resume and it only looks as good as your last work
Clove Worx that’s a great way to word it. I’d like to see a video about that, explaining why craftsmanship is important in every industry, especially welding. You want to be known as the guy who’s work is top notch.
Man thank you that really means a lot. And great ideas on a video I will do one for you guys.
Adam Everitt in my view from what ive picked up on. Craftsmenship is important because it shows that the one doing to the crafting actually cares about what level of quality his product maintains, they want to be there. And people who are paying for the work generally want someone who is greatfull to do the work and maintains a level of pride in his craft. It comes down to this. Only two things you got are your name and your word. If you give your word that youll provide good work a gurantee is held to your name at the end up the day. This guy can do it. Have pride in what you do.
Adam Everitt , My thoughts "burn every rod like it's the last one you will ever burn."
