Chael, you are 100% wrong about the interim title and that it gets stripped. *When Bisping was champ, he got injured after beating Dan Henderson. Robert Whittaker then fought Romero for the INTERIM title. Then we had a swirve, much like now. Bisping then defended his title against GSP instead of unifying the interim with Rob.. Rob REMAINED interim champ. GSP retired and the ufc promoted Whittaker to the undisputed champion. You can still search this on the 'dirt sheets' when he was made undisputed MW Champ. He even got injured during this time and they had Izzy fight for an Interim title himself. When they finally fought, Rob had the "C" in all tale of the tapes, Buffer introduced him as "Reining, Defending, middleweight champion of the world". He got ppv points etc. lol he was the champ. This situation is almost exactly like what we have going on at heavyweight.

You cannot be the "Undisputed" champion while there is still an interim champion walking around. If there are two people walking around with a belt for the same division there is dispute. That dispute needs to be resolved.

This has happened before . The actual champ got stripped of the title the night the Interim champ was due to fight and that main event became for vacated belt.
My thoughts on the BMF title: The BMF championship was an expression used by Nate Diaz when issuing a challenge to Jorge Masvidal, whom he respected as a fighter that would bring the type of fight that he wanted. The UFC saw the marketing potential behind it and commissioned a BMF title belt to be given to one of these two fighters. Both of which had a tremendous fan base, a reputation for being bangers in the cage, and could easily be promoted as a main event. The BMF title fight was initially expected to be a one-off, as a means of promoting two of its most well loved & exciting fighters. It was not intended to be a regularly defended title, as it wasn’t a representative of any weight division. Once Masvidal retired, the BMF was resurrected as a “money belt” to be contested between fighters who were respected as being ones who would leave it all in the cage for the benefit of the fans, and could bring in PPV numbers.
Tom aspinall and curtis blaydes are the 2 kindest and most honorable heavyweights ever. I'm rooting for tom but curtis has such a perfect personality

Well, as things stand... just as it was with Colby, whomever holds the Interrim Belt at HW will lose it the moment Jon steps into the cage vs Stipe without ever losing it.
And as for the BMF belt. It really is simple. If yer not considered a BMF by a good chunk of fans it will not be a fight for that belt, and the best way to find that out is if the UFC announces a BMF title fight... because they know who is considered a fighters fighter. And everyone thought that belt was just gonna be a one-shot thing anyway before Gaethje v Poirier.
And once more, Colby is most certainly not a BMF fighter, if he gets a fight his way it will be a snoozefest like his fight with Masvidal.

I think the problem people have with Curtis is that he doesn't do many/any interviews. He just let out that he had an issue with stuttering and he of course is self conscious. While haters/trolls would pick on him and be assholes. The regular fan that appreciates his skills and story would get behind him more by knowing that even though he stutters... Who cares! Nobody is perfect Curtis, we'll stand behind you dude. Just not against Tom though 🤣🤘🏽🐼🤘🏽

Chael, this situation is confusing because last week,when you and D.C. Were speakin, you had .mentioned something along the lines of the Interim Strap you holder "being stripped as soon as the bell sounds off for Jon Jones' next fight". But, it seems to me that the UFC is trying to pursue a different course for the heavy weight champion. Dana White has always been pro Interim Champ in the heavy weight division. If you have time, can you discuss this further for us?

It’s because the BMF is not a regular belt. It’s akin to the Catholic Priest consecrating a regular piece of bread to transfigure it to the body of Christ.
The UFC consecrate a fight as special, and anoint the winner as a BMF champion.
The UFC is the church that makes that decree, not the fighters.
I feel that the UFC didn't allow Masividal to defend the BMF. It seems that the belt was revived by Gaetje and Holloway. 2. If Topuria wants the BMF, then the fight needs to be at 155. The BMF is a lightweight division belt. Actually not true, I believe that Masividal and Diaz fought at 170, so I'm wrong. 3. Anyway, if Topuria wants the BMF it has to be at 155 lbs.
The question I have is does the interm champ get participation? I'd guess masvidal didn't defend which didn't make him eligible for participation. Same would go for max if the bmf isn't up for his next fight

Very similar. Bisping wins the undisputed title and gets injured just like jones did after he beat gane. whittaker wins the interim championship and bisping gets ready for GSP who hasnt fought in years. Just like jones going to fight stipe who hadnt fought in years

Jorge didn't have to put the belt on the line to get his points. They were already built on the contract. So why risk the belt for no reward? That's why Jorge didn't defend it

It’s not that I don’t like Curtis, I guess his fights just rarely catch my attention to the point to where I remember his fight versus other ones whenever he’s on a card. And I feel like that’s shitty to say when he’s coming off a knockout victory, but I honestly forgot it happened. But I don’t think this is entirely Curtis’ fault, I feel like that entire division is genuinely boring without a few guys, Curtis is one of the exciting ones in a division full of duds.

Title fights get PPV points. Masvidal deal too favorable to UFC and he’s a draw regardless to give him traditional PPV points if he were to have defended it. BMF defended at 300 to juice “300”. If Tom defends, that makes it a more expensive business endeavor…why it’s not a given

Masvidal didn't defend the bmf because of his contract. He was getting paid too much to not be main/co-main and without the belt he couldn't fight that high on a card.
