Every previous Star Trek series had its flaws, and there were a couple of things I wished were different with Enterprise, but I always enjoyed the show (except the final episode). I felt short-changed when it didn't even get a full run. For me, it was the last real Star Trek series ever made. Since it was cancelled, the closest thing I've seen to a new Star Trek series has been The Orville. Discovery and Picard don't feel much like Star Trek or like they fit anywhere in Gene Roddenberry's vision of the future. Neither has any of the optimism, diplomacy, intelligence or even basic writing ability that made previous Star Trek shows what they were.

      The season 2 episode in which Porthos was ill had a funny scene at the end where T'Pol stumples a bit saying that it was good they were bound by command rules to not get together. Like a bug in the matrix, T'Pol might have told us that she found the idea of an adventure with Archer, at least interesting in the back of her mind... "it's a good thing you ar emy commanding officer, otherwise we... we could have been tempted in a way that, that could have been... problematic."
      And I also think she's conscious of Archer's efforts to keep his own attraction to her down and that their trust as friends as well as colleagues depends on their self control. For once a human controls his urges in front of her, she ain't gonna sabotage his efforts. (and also give another reason to be treated as a paria by the Vulcan High Command in the process...

    • @RemingtonDean
      @RemingtonDean 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      He asked who would be in charge. On a navy ship, there would be multiple officers of rank and seniority in that department capable of taking over. Although there would be a clear chain of command in case of injury or the like, in a situation like this one the engineer would likely appoint someone according to a duty roster, or possibly to a slightly more junior officer in order to give them much-needed experience.

    • @SantomPh
      @SantomPh 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      in Engineering jobs are usually delegated according to specialty, not rank. The Chief Engineering Officer is the one who has to report to the Captain, but there could be others of similar or lower ranks who are actually in charge of something. In Starfleet for example a systems engineer (Barclay) doesn't necessarily have authority over the Transport Chief (O Brien), even if the Chief is an NCO. B'lanna Torres and Lt.Carey are the same rank but Carey supports her given her appointment as Chief Engineer.

    • @SantomPh
      @SantomPh 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      they have myths but don't use them as guidance for their lives. Vulcans have longstanding traditions, rituals and even religion but acknowledge that they are mostly to focus their minds and provide inspiration. What they don't believe in is illogical miracles, unscientific origin theories and deus ex machina events until they run into new evidence (like time travel or mirror universes). We have seen the TOS crew go through pon farr rituals, a katra ceremony and a wedding gone wrong and the Enterprise crew raiding a Vulcan temple that was actually a surveillance base using myths to cloak their presence.
      In Picard it's shown that Romulans also have mind-focusing rituals, although Narek used them to manipulate Soji rather than actually perform them. It explains a lot why the Romulans are always focused and calm.

      He was too short for her. In heels she'd be taller than him. Only real option are Captain Archer or Trip, because even in 3 inch heels, they'd still be taller than her. Hoshi and Reed would have made a more suitable pair

    Not sure why there is an extra manufactured conflict about micro singularities vs. time travel. Seems like they should all go where the science leads.
    Archer was very dismissive of the ability to simply check and prove a historic phenomenon. This too seems out of character.
