Thank you for 10K guys💜 love every single one of you!!! More album reactions will be coming, along with regularly scheduled content! Up next: BTS Hardships Reaction Blackpink Video Spring Day / Explanation Video Next album will be Map of the Soul: 7!! Borahae my friends💜
I'm not sure if you have recorded the hardships and the spring day vids yet, but I just want to say, if you haven't, please take breaks through out these videos, if you need to, because they are very emotionally heavy. If you have recorded them already, then I'm sending a virtual hug 💜
Good on you for noticing that high note in the final chorus of Dionysus, that was actually Jin. Evidently the vocal director told him to basically scream into the mic when recording for that song. Dionysus is a song detailing a passion and love for art and how they're "drunk" on it, which fits because Dionysus is the god of festivities, wine, passion and art. And yes there are more songs with just a few members on them, we call them "sub-unit songs".
@@LexListens The meaning is very cool! The word play is neat, too, because in Korean sul (술) means alcohol, and yesul (예술) means art, so that's found throughout the song :). Thank you for the reaction! Persona was my first comeback, so it holds a special place in my heart. 💜
if you wanna get even more emo about mikrokosmos, mikrokosmos was the last song bts played during their 2019 tour, and the last song armys would hear live for years. over 2020 bts would continuously make remarks and quote lyrics from mikrokosmos to comfort us, especially "the darker the night, the brighter we shine," as a way of saying, even though we're being faced with such hardships and sadness, we still have each other, and we're still here. loved your reaction
@@LexListens My last concert was May 19, 2019 at MetLife Stadium. Had no idea what was in store the following year. Bought tickets for their 2020 World tour during presale only to have it cancelled after many many months of it being "postponed"...dammit covid! 😭
Their map of the soul series is based on Jung's Map of the Soul book, which talks about the psychological concept of persona, shadow and ego. You will see in MOTS7 that each rapper had been given a concept, RM(intro:persona) ,suga (interlude :shadow) and j-hope ( outro: ego). This album talks about one's journey to find themself. Persona talks about their public image, Shadow talk about their fears and Ego talks about who they really are.
@@LexListens yes! MOTS7 is probably my favorite BTS album (and Mikrokosmos is probably my favorite of all their songs; I have the same reaction as you, every time!), where, like you were thinking, I find there isn't a single filler song, and so many of the unreleased songs could have been hit singles.
@@LexListens XCelest has a video that explains BTS's use of Carl Jung's concepts really really well you should check it out after listening to the album! (If you want to) 🙂
Fun fact: in Dionysus Jin went to F#5 highnote in recording. Its an extreme highnote. He did the last ending highnote in MOTS ONE concert live. In Disease Jin goes to C6 note(a high female note)
about Boy With Luv "The Korean title, 작은 것들을 위한 시, means “a poem for small things.” When asked to talk about the song, RM said, “It’s about finding little joy in love, being curious about the little things, the details like what you’re eating, what you’re doing. But, most importantly, Boy With Luv is like a fan letter from BTS to ARMY. That’s the most important thing.”" -doolset
Dionysus plays on Korean word "sool(alcohol)" and "yesool(art/the sool here has a different root)" where yesool has sool in it. Dionysis is born twice, once from his mother and once again from his father's thigh. Likewise, BTS here is celebrating that they are born twice, once as an idol and once again as an artist.
If you cried for Mikrokosmos, wait till you hear We Are Bulletproof: The Eternal ✋😭😭 I'm super happy for all the support you're getting. You're doing great 💜💜 One thing though: Dionysus isn't really about getting drunk 😅. I think for the next album review, Doolset Bangtan would be the most useful tool.l, coz just like you, I'm also a lyrics girl.
RM once said that they want their B track be as good as the title track instead of just being a filler song for the album even though that mean it takes longer to produce because they really take pride of what they do! I have the upmost respect for them
This was a really lovely surprise, thank you!! Yes Persona is amazing - it’s basically as the title says about their public personas they show to world, they’ve said in interviews that this album (apart from dionysus maybe) is their love letter to ARMY and the support we show each other. Like the lyrics in boy with luv, make it right, home, etc, they became a “hero” even though they didn’t plan to, Army gave them wings to fly but they want to fly towards us and not the sun. They don’t want to listen to the voices of others who make them feel unwelcome because Armys are the only ones who recognised them and are where they feel at home. That’s what I get from the main message of the album, everything they want to say as their public persona. When you get to map of the soul 7 in the future you’ll see how they explore their hidden side (shadow) too and how it all comes together to form their true identity (ego) 💜
i would recommend using doolset bangtan for the lyrics if you really wanna do a deep dive/analysis, since they give more context in terms of culture and literature (plus the colour coded lyrics really aren't that accurate) always love your reactions! 💜
Mikrokosmos is usually the last song they play in concerts (before the encores), it’s such a beautiful moment, a fantastic way to say goodbye. Here in Brazil Armys chant the song with tears in their eyes, the boys cry too, it’s just beautiful. 🥲 Home it’s one of my favorites. They have a video done in a tv show where they sing it wearing PJ’s! I just adore it. Highly recommended.
If you wanna cry listen to love myself answer, magic shop, we are bulletproof ethernal, truth untold. The lyrics are so beautiful. I literally cry everytime I hear it. Congratulations on 10k subs. Love your reactions 💜
Love that you're getting into BTS' discography! My faves in this album are BWL and Home (you might wanna check out the Jimmy Fallon performance. It's the music video we never had.) Also, BTS grouping themselves in songs is called a "subunit". It's not uncommon for them to do this especially for the rapline and vocal line. Popular Subunit Song Samples are: Friends - V & Jimin (Map of the Soul 7) Respect - RM & Suga (Map of the Soul 7) Fly To My Room - V, Suga, Jimin , Jhope (BE) Stay - RM, Jin, JK (BE) Rapline: Ugh, Ddaeng, Cyphers, Outro:Tear Vocal line: Truth Untold, House of Cards, Dimple
This whole album is so, so good. Home and mikrokosmos are up there in terms of fave songs for me period with them. I recommend watching the Jimmy Fallon performance of home. It’s so good. Congratulations!
The “but kim namjoon” part refers to how people use him as a punching bag. Haters would bring up his past mistakes every time their fave’s recent mistakes are being talked about, ignoring the fact that he has personally apologized and talked about them, even taking steps to learn and grow from them.
it's used as a way to remind himself of who he really is. so instead of the rm persona he keeps up, 'but kim namjoon' or 'but i'm kim namjoon' reminds him of who he really is. i guess it's really up to interpretation, anyways.
@@meika_lee Its a pretty well known definition of "but kim namjoon" among army and the kpop community, its even in the urban dictionary But I agree, at the end of the day its up to one's own interpretation. Yours is also a pretty interesting take
I agree with the Tonight Show Home performance suggestions! A YT reaction will get blocked, but it’s definitely a must-see 💜 And once you hear JK’s imitation of V’s “Crazy for myself…” you’ll never be able to un-hear it 😂 (That goes for all his imitations. Check out some Jungkook copying everything compilations lol)
23:25 You are going to LOVE RM's collab with Fall out boy if you like him rapping in english. He raps fully in english in that song. It's named Champion!!
Hello, Alexa! There is just so much to tell you, so much to talk about, that I can only bite off a little bit at a time to address at this point. And I don’t just mean talking about this particular album, but about BTS in general, although this is a fantastic album and let me just say, I absolutely love the song Jamais Vu…..the message, the meaning (as in being the opposite of déjà vu), the melody, the vocals…..everything about it. I love all the songs on this album, but this one just hit me in a special way. Anyway, the little bite I wanted to address in this comment has to do with the fact that there are quite a few BTS songs that are absolutely special, yet have no music video, no dance practice, just television performances and live performances. Songs that go deep with their meaning and their lyrics, which can be serious, but yet the songs themselves are upbeat and very catchy. Here are some examples of my favorites along with links to favorite performances. If you choose to react to some of these, you might want to review the lyric videos first or at least look up the meaning behind the song. For example, there’s ANPANMAN, the story of which centers around a Japanese animated character (the “weakest superhero,” who goes around saving hungry children by offering them pieces of his head, which is made of bread), to which BTS compare themselves. th-cam.com/video/qkLMPihvKaQ/w-d-xo.html Next is GO GO, A bop of a song that seems to be scolding millennials for overspending and wasting their money, making dumb decisions, but told in a really fun way! (The HEART performance of this song is also really fun) th-cam.com/video/8YpVt43Aqvk/w-d-xo.html Another is 21ST CENTURY GIRLS, Dedicated to those the title suggests! The choreography is really cute here. th-cam.com/video/8YpVt43Aqvk/w-d-xo.html Also, there actually are dance practices for the latter two songs, and they are both part of the group of infamous Halloween dance practices that BTS have put out over the years. You gotta check those out! (It’s important to note that in the dance practice for GO GO, our dear V is subdued and quiet, yet gives it his all, because a friend of his had recently passed away.) And some of BTS‘s earliest songs are among their hippest, coolest songs ever! Please check out one of my favorites, LOOK HERE! You’ll love RM’s part in this piece! th-cam.com/video/VBxF_jjGUJY/w-d-xo.html (I couldn’t find the video of my favorite live performance from back in the day, so here’s their performance at 2017’s FESTA - the yearly celebration of the anniversary of their debut, which lasts for two weeks!) I have lots more to say, but better stop here. Keep up the good work, Alexa, your BTS journey is so much fun to watch! You’re doing a great job, just fantastic!
I just love watching you vibing to the songs and realizing why we love BTS. The only thing that irritated me is the color coded video 😭 they were listing the wrong member singing like there was a part where it was clearly V singing but the person highlighted was Jimin 😐 once you listen to more of their songs you will be able to differentiate their voices since they’re all so unique from each other. Thank you for the reaction 😊💜💜💜
I loved your reaction! I recommend "Yours", a song Jin did for a drama, and Christmas Tree by V! I really love these songs, they show just how beautiful their vocals are. Congrats on 10k!!!
In RM's Persona there was a line "The three syllables of my name and the word 'but' that should come before any of those". The meaning behind it is actually very painful. Kpop fans and sometimes some armys too like to use the "but Namjoon" card on twitter when their favorite artist does something bad and problematic. They always bring up his name to "defend" their faves saying "but Namjoon did this and that in the past".
You are right about mikrokosmos! It’s about them looking out during a concert & seeing a galaxy of ARMY bombs looking like a sea of stars! Listen to it again w/ that in mind & you will cry even harder! I can’t wait to see your reaction to bulletproof eternal (watch the MV cuz every scene is a scene from their past music videos or parts of their history) you WILL need tissues
At 16:55 it's similar to micro cosmos. Doing a great job, nice to see you enjoying the album, some really great songs on there. They're all good but some are just 'chef's kiss'! 26:45 sounds like Ger (as in Germany but with more of a je than a ge - if that makes sense) may voo
Mikeokosmos is one of my all-time favourites. My heart was so full as I waved my cellphone and sang along with this at the end of the muster concert last year😵💫💜. Jamais Vu is another one VERY high on my favourites list.
It would be great if you listened to the albums one by one, from the first to the last. You would see how they have grown in terms production of music, lyrics, mvs, etc.
7:27 this is about the way haters blame bts for everything, if their faves do ANYTHING ignorant and someone calls them out for it they go all "Oh but y'all let Namjoon have an afro in 2013". 'But Namjoon!' is like a meme now.
16:10 funny you mention that!! they also released a collab version of 'make it right' with lauv and a music video to go along with it. the entire thing is like one big hug--would highly recommend!
In the song "Home" the verse "with you imma feel rich". No truer words have been spoken. When you're in love with "that" person, you are the richest person on Earth. Watch the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon version of home. Also Mikrocosmos and Black Swan. It's a week-long MV every night. JK has a man bun and a see-through shirt. You see a nipple a few times and his abs and pecs. This whole album is Chef's kiss! "Make It Right". I'm so happy you got to hear it. Girl, you remind me so much of myself jamming out to BTS. I'm 60, but they make me feel like I'm 21 again. I actually get up and dance to their music. ARMY since 2017. Mic Drop, Steve Aoki remix is what did it for me. Thank you to my then 17-year-old daughter Carlie. I'm addicted. If I ever saw them live, in concert I could die a very happy woman.
Mikrokosmos is my all time favourite song ever. I refer to it as my soul song because it reflects my own thoughts and feelings about the world and my overall optimism for humanity. I always get goosebumps when I listen to this song and did so while you were reacting to it too. I remember the first time I heard it so clearly and how it immediately made me think, 'oh. I like BTS' music for real.' I recently got my first ever tattoo and its a mini galaxy to represent Mikrosmos by BTS. The fact you had such an emotional reaction to that song made me so happy.
Seeing you discovering BTS’s journey (with your baby & your dog & your kitten nearby) is giving me a joy, to know there is an increasing number of people having their day brighter by BTS’s tireless works & efforts, beyond the language barriers. BTS also produces inspiring songs in Japanese, such as Your Eyes Tell, which JK organized for a boy-meet-girl movie. (and the girl being without eyesight is the key to the song) You can enjoy their beautiful high tones with rappers delivering their deep insights of the story. (Please be prepared for wiping your tears before listening to the song!) Thanks for sharing your beautiful reactions! So convincing!
I just listened to their full albums just I was genuinely curious which one would be my favorite since I really think their albums are so good no skips and I could finally say with confidence that my favorite is The most beautiful moment in life: Young Forever hopefully you could do a reaction to it 💜
This was fun!!! The lyrics make me feel so much more as I’m driving to my playlist!!! They put such love and light out into the world!!! 😘 Have a great day ArmyFam!!💜🙌🏻
Thank u for reacting to map of the soul persona. This is literally my fav bts' album! And thankk u sm for react while read the lyrics. Cos thats the point where u'll understand why bts is different than any other groups. Love ur videos and much love from indonesia🇲🇨💜💜💜
Hello friend I just wanted to give you a bit more in depth and detailed explanation of each song on this album. This album was a beginning of a new Era for BTS that we all waited for so so badly. This Album is fully-fledged narrative that is centered around the idea of “identity”. All seven tracks explain how BTS used Jung’s theory of “Persona” and “Shadow” from Murray Stein’s book “Jung’s Map of the Soul: An Introduction”. The author referred to Namjoon’s speech at the United Nations and praised the artist for making a distinction between the boy he grew up as in his hometown and the artistic self he has been creating since his entry into the creative field. The question that remains is how these ideas and distinction have been used in this album. In an interview during their red carpet walk at the 61st Annual Grammy awards, BTS said that the Map Of the Soul : PERSONA album will be about their fans ARMY. Now lets move on to the songs. INTRO : PERSONA by RM The primary theme of “Persona” is RM questioning who he is as an individual. One of the reasons he finds definitively answering this question such a challenge is due to the influence of other people’s beliefs on his life. He also acknowledges his dark side, which he has named “hesitation”. Furthermore, RM brings up self-doubts and “flaws” he has (as someone in the spotlight). At times things get so bad that his regrets literally make him sick. He also mentions that he has created a false image of himself. But now he is here to bear his soul - as in present who he truly is - to the world. And in the process, he is admonishing himself to never lose touch with this hard-fought reality. Indeed he feels that his real personality is not only what he, but is also what the masses prefer. And who RM is as a person is someone who wants to be free and serve the people through his lyrical skills. What all of these complex self-realizations ultimately boil down to is “Persona” being a song about the personal growth of RM. Boy With Luv feat. Halsey (A Poem of Small Things literal title translation from Korean) Vibrant, both in terms of setting and the lyrics, this is one of the most optimistic videos released by BTS. The genre of retro funk finds its place in the track as the group tries to create a dreamy landscape using the imagery of a theater. For older ARMYs, the track will bring “Boy in Luv” to mind. Boy In Luv talked about the idea of possessive affection that an individual showcases for their lover. The aggression is clearly evident in the lyrics as the protagonist wantsthe lover to succumb to their affection. In contrast or say rather in continuation to the track, Boy “with” Luv talks about the compassion that members now embody due to their fans. By constant learning and fans’ projection of their ideas on BTS (as they learned the value the group can provide to the listeners), the septet has learned the value love holds. Instead of relying on the external subject to provide them with love, these 7 men have understood that one can only find love in others when one begins to love themselves first. What culminated in Love Yourself: Answer becomes a turning point in “Boy With Luv”. The journey RM traces in the intro has been summed up in a single replacement - “in” to “with”.BTS are taking the turn by serving ARMYs. They are now able to understand the adrenaline rush fans get when they meet or listen to BTS. The idea of reciprocation has been depicted well. Referring to the myth of “Icarus”, RM talks about the role ARMYs have played in keeping the group grounded. This point will be further discussed in “Home”. The “wings” that BTS received from their fans to fly high will now be used as a medium to return back to the ARMYs, the “center” of BTS Universe. The idea of the center came into being with Post-structuralism when the theorists talked about the relationship between the individuals in the society in terms of the center and the periphery (authority and the subjects). Over the period of time, the transcendental center for BTS has acquired different elements - fame, money and much more but after realizing the hollow relationship between these elements, BTS is trying to re-establish the original owners of the center - ARMYs, the only elemental relationship that seems irreplacable. Seeking “love” stronger than a momentary love of fame, BTS has now diverted their focus on ARMYs and are making an attempt to learn about them. MikroKosmos Playing with homophone “microcosm” and “mikrokosmos”, BTS are offering another facet of their relationship with the ARMYs. Using the contrasting images of “building”, “city”, and “Starlight”, BTS is alluding to the term “microcosm”. The term as per the dictionary definition, refers to a small entity comprising of characteristics showcasing the larger picture. Using the concept of “individuation” from Jung’s Map of Soul, BTS are referring back to their message at the United Nations. Stein explained that individuals can help others in society by giving away the idea of collective identity and moving towards individuation. What he meant by that was - by seeing people who they are as individuals, one can understand their struggles and why they are the way they exist in the world. This is one of the methods of teaching compassion to people who otherwise would use collective phrases taught by society (such as physical characteristics) to address others. By referring to their fans as “stars” and not constellation and emphasizing on the number (7 Billion), BTS are trying to reiterate their message that each individual comes with their own stories and must be respected for that. Individuation also helps people realize their potential and break away from society’s projection of its impression and insecurities. The bonding between the viewer and the starlight is used to show the bonding between BTS and fans as each of them receives “value” and “light” from each other during the darkest nights. In terms of message, the track resonates with “Magic Shop” and 2!3! as it offers a support system to listeners by consoling them that they must not give up. Make It Right "Make it Right" was co-written by Ed Sheeran. BTS and Sheeran shared love in their DMs, the English pop star worked on something new for the group. They exchanged ideas via email: Sheeran wrote the hooks with his producers, and BTS penned the lyrics. The fanbase of BTS is diverse. Comprising of people who identify themselves with different genders and who come from different walks of life, one can be easily intrigued to learn the group’s understanding and perception of their fanbase. In one of our earlier pieces, we have talked about the special relationship that BTS share with their fans, the one where the former is constantly listening and learning from the latter. The track pays homage to “Sea”, the hidden track from “Love Yourself: Her”. Sea talked about the group’s conflicting thoughts about their success. Coming from a place where they were not even offered a justifiable “screentime”, the success seems to be a mirage which can fade away. Sea as a song primarily talked about the group’s struggles from the members’ perspective. In their new song “Make It Right”, the septet uses the technique of cyclical narrative to make an apology to fans who they could not include in “Sea”. This apology is a consequence of a realization that without their fans, the sea of success will still remain a “desert”. The song seems to seek a second chance where the group, after realizing their original “rehab” and “source” of happiness, wants to now chart their journey with ARMYs. END OF PART ONE....
PART 2 OF MY COMMENT Home In their title track, “Boy With Luv”, RM says: “wings of Icarus, not towards the sun but you, let me fly”. This rock-influenced track which also takes a cue from Spanish tunes, talks about the foreboding that could have materialized into reality had BTS succumbed to the power of fame. Confessing their momentary narcissism through the lines “crazy for myself/ I could not even say goodbye”, the track shows the reason why the group might have demanded an apology in “Make It Right”. In other words, if “Make It Right” sounds apologetic, “Home” shares the reason why. The boys have now understood the difference between “moment” love (used in “Boy With Luv”) of fame which is hollow and the loyalty that guarantees longevity and as a result of their realization, they are moving back to “mi casa”. Being conscious of their beginning where only their fans were able to see their value, the group seems to have recognized their original home. No matter the distance, the boys know that they have a home that they can return to, the home where they were “brought up”. As a listener who might not be a fan of BTS, this song talks about the importance of staying grounded. Suga too seems to have come to full circle as the rapper shares how his ambition of “big cars, big house, and big dreams” was only a necessary validation he required to showcase the value of group in the eyes of others but in reality, the worth of BTS cannot be talked about, without the mention of ARMYs. Hence, he diverts the usage of the word “riches” and use it to refer to the fanbase. Jamais vu The first sub-unit song and the only ballad track from the mini album, Jamais vu features Jin, Jungkook, and J-Hope. Seen as an opposite to deja vu, jamais vu refers to a phenomenon where one feels that a setting or situation witnessed has “never been seen” before so, even if the person or the circumstance is familiar, it might seem that something is happening for the very first time. Jamais vu seems to be the only visibly dark track from the album as it talks about the repeated struggles of the group, no matter what pedestal they reach in their life. Creating a contrast between a game and life, BTS talk about their awareness and deliberate denial of the pain they have experienced . Making “life” sounds like something that needs to be “dealt” with, the group is trying to deny to the repetition of painful events. Here, jamais vu does not refer to a circumstance presenting itself by its will but the vulnerability that the group has not been able to overcome even after six years in the industry. Seeking remedy, they are trying to face their past whose constant presence in the present makes it difficult for them to enjoy their success. Being monitored for their “every word” and “gesture”, the group knows that the world is waiting for them to make a mistake. But what is the remedy for such a painful realization? Is it a constant success so that the others are not able to call them “lucky” for tasting it once or is it their fans who provided them with the path towards their first remedy? The answer seems to lean towards the latter. The song also hints towards the pressure these 7 young men feel and the constant urge of running away that they cannot give up. Referring back to “Sea” and “Make It Right”, BTS have posited their remedy in ARMYs and the latter has become their sole motivation of not giving up. Dionysus The concept images of this Album were an exciting moment for art lovers and Greek Literature enthusiasts. Depicting the theme of extravagance, the group was seen adorning Gucci collection with Dionysus written over the accessories. The members were also seen eating grapes and strawberries, the symbols of fertility in Greek mythology and the symbols depicting the character of Dinonysus. The track is no different. Heavily influenced by Rock, the track celebrates art and the madness that results from it. While talking about “Shadow”, Stein introduced the term as a “counter-culture”, space where “persona” becomes the “shadow” and unconventional is seen as conventional. Calling themselves Dionysus, BTS have finally reached the starting point. Not respected in their domestic industry and seen as a mysterious “sensation” in the western media, BTS have always been the pallbearers of counter-culture. Questioning the conventional idea of music, success, and appearance, BTS is playing around the stereotype of culture by creating a counter space for themselves and their admirers. One can easily get Seo Taiji and Boys’ vibe, the group that is considered as the founders of modern KPOP in South Korea. Calling their art “the flow of their generation” BTS wants to continue to induce “madness”. The madness which is usually used synonymous with “irrational” frenzy of ARMY is being picked up by the group to show that this frenzy is actually a celebration of culture that has been excluded from the conventional sphere. The group has used the symbols of myth to showcase the power of creation. Dionysus is the god of fertility, art, and the driving force behind the Greek theater. In a press release RM described the song as, "the joy and pain of creating something” and “an honest track". On the surface it may seem like a party song with the group shouting “Drink, drink, drink!” at different intervals, but in reality, the lyrics call for getting drunk on art, in the creative process. While "alcohol" in Korean is "술", "art" in Korean is "예술". Also, looking deeper into the lyrics, it shows self reflection such as when Suga raps, “What does it matter if I’m an idol or an artist?” It links back to their previous song "Idol" that asked the same reflective questions." So as you can see BTS albums are very complex and deep. Every sound and word has a beautiful connection to art, literature, philosophy, their previous body of work and us ARMY's. RM shared that he’s noticed that lately there are many people who don’t listen to lyrics, but he aims to run counter to that. He said, “In this age when the melody and the vibe of a song are important, I’m someone who originally wanted to be a poet and writer, so I wanted to focus on the auditory texture and the beauty of language through the lyrics. Since they’re songs that I’m presenting to you, aren’t the lyrics really important? I felt pressured, but at the same time I was really happy while I was writing. I’ll be grateful if you focus on the lyrics when you listen to the album. I think this is an album where the lyrics are even more important than usual.” So I hope this will help you understand this album in a better way, and welcome to the fandom dear 💜
Thanks for the thorough explanations! Going to take some time to process it all. Also goes to show just how unique and special BTS and it’s individual members are. A once in a lifetime group of humble talented kings.
Hi, I am back. Good reaction, ty. Congrats on 10k Lex! And BE album is the most current, lol. FYI Persona-RM, Shadow-Suga, & Ego-JHope should be watched all together. They are connected songs based on theme. I have this album. It's still not opened, lol. Make It Right was written by Ed Sheeran. There is an illustrated MV for it. It's beautiful. Mikrokosmos is a fav too. It's a gorgeous song. Home has a live that can act as an MV pls watch Home on Jimmy Fallon 2020. It's so fun! Jamais Vu is a unit song. It's amazing. I love their unit songs. Hope u check out more of those soon. Dionysus is not a party drinking song. They are saying their art makes them drunk. Being an artist is like feeling the buzz and being high. They slayed! Hugs Have a good week! -NY USA Army💟
Oh my god the way my heart just like plummeted when j-hope's Make It Right verse was edited out. Like the ARMY-equivalent of blue balls. haha. I think I literally said "nooooooooo" haha. (no shade, I was just jamming and then it cut and it's like my fave part on the whole album so it cut deep. haha)
If you liked the songs on this album you should really react to the BTS Week performances on Jimmy Fallon. They are live performances filmed during quarantine and the scale of some of them are literally insane. They do Dynamite first, then Mikrocosmos and Home from this album, and black swan from MOTS7 and then finally Idol. Plus not to mention their visuals are absolutely stunning. Honestly every performance bts has done on Jimmy Fallon is literally incredible, so I'd definitely recommend any jimmy Fallon performances if you have time haha. Also Butter on Jimmy Fallon is like,,, really really hot just sayin 👀
i’ve been a fan since 2019 and i had been waiting to hear mikrokosmos live for 2 years....that wait was finally over when they performed it the last day of PTD on stage in LA......i broke down and literally wouldn’t stop crying it was definitely a core memory tho i will never forget that feeling.
Please listen to one of my favorites which is RM's Moonchild!! The song isn't fully in English, but he pretty much raps in english on some parts. On this album, Jamais Vu is my faveee.
Dionysus has actually a play word between korean words which was artist (yesul) and alcohol (sul) and Dionysus was a God of the Wine so its an art of drinking. But theres deeper meaning to it also.
I just went on a binge spree lmao. I couldn't think of a better way to spend my day off. 17 videos later I'm finally caught up. I LOVE your reactions thank you so much!
I was literally looking at my album on the shelf when you mentioned it. I also rly recommend Map of the soul seven and BE both are rly good albums with lyrics so good my mouth falls open every time.
I love Home. You should check out BTS week on Jimmy Fallon... they did several songs on different sets. Home was ssooooo fun to watch! I highly recommend it!
First off congrats on the 10K. Proves that if you are genuine and honest in your reactions ARMY will come and stay. Loved your reaction to the album - it’s a great collection of music. Different styles but all work together. Like you I am a lyric lover so every time they release a song I have to research the lyrics. Lol. You are right in listening to the album as a whole - Suga has said before that they build a story in the entirety of the album not just one song.
Loved the video ! I think you would absolutely love watching the performance with home on jimmy fallon lol they made it like a music video almost and it was so cute 😁💜
Great reaction - per your comments about their deeper tracks, I know I’m not alone when I say some if my mist favorite BTS songs aren’t singles!! They are ALL so good!!
Hey Lex, once again thanks for your wonderfully honest reaction. I agree with you about RM rapping in English, I love his flow in Korean too, however when he raps in English, it sounds 'familiar,' therefore more relatable I guess. BTS lyrics are always mind-blowing, whether in Korean or English. I always listen to them and watch their performances with tears in my eyes, tears of Joy, Pride and a little sadness that I'll never be able to see them perform in person. Keep up the great work, xo
Not sure if other Army’s have recommended this performance or not - it’s the comeback stage for Dionysus, Make it Right and Boy with Luv. th-cam.com/video/ZcZ6DbxqH8s/w-d-xo.html It’s one of my fave and I’m pretty sure you’ll love it too!
Boy with Luv has two versions. The one you listened is the same as the one in the music video which doesn’t have Halsey’s part. The other version that is on streaming music platforms has Halsey’s part and it’s actually the original song. There is also another music video with more of her that is called Army with luv version, maybe you could watch it later :)
im really happy for you tobe ARMY.. FYI when i got bad day i always listening MIKROKOSMOS..thats song very helpme thats MOODBOSTER for me.. Welcome to the ARMY .. Sory for my english so bad
9:20 I getcha about them singing your language! That's how I felt when they did sign language in Permiasion to Dance. My first language wasn't vocal, soo that's make couple of us (ARMYs.) :3
Since you liked make it right so much, you should know there IS a music video for it (technically, for the remix version of it ft. Lauv, which has him singing the first verse in English.) It's really cute! Half animated, half clips from their tour.
Commenting after Persona - maybe someone already told you this, but you maybe noticed how he emphasizes the syllable NA when he says persona? Na in Korean (나) is actually one of the words for “I, me,” so there’s that RM wordplay again. 💜
I also love RM rapping in English and speaking English :) It sounds so sexy :))) I´m really into this album (especially Mikrokosmos, Make it right and Dionysus)! It was my very first time I heard Jamais vu (title in french - never seen in eglish), so emotional!!!
(I always like the vulnerability of your reactions! This album is amazing! so many good songs together that you can't even appreciate it. When I heard "Mikrokosmos" for the first time and RM's part comes and says that there are 7 billion stars in this world and each one has the brilliance of it, something gave way inside my heart! So much acceptance! Right there I gave my heart forever because this song will accompany me as long as I live. Not to mention all of them and their singing synergy!)
Thank you for 10K guys💜 love every single one of you!!! More album reactions will be coming, along with regularly scheduled content!

Looking forward to it :)
I'm not sure if you have recorded the hardships and the spring day vids yet, but I just want to say, if you haven't, please take breaks through out these videos, if you need to, because they are very emotionally heavy. If you have recorded them already, then I'm sending a virtual hug 💜
Please react to jungkooks decalcomania clip ❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏 it's soooooo freaking awesome
Yes - omg jin killed it😩💜 i love the meaning of the song!!!
@@LexListens The meaning is very cool! The word play is neat, too, because in Korean sul (술) means alcohol, and yesul (예술) means art, so that's found throughout the song :).
Thank you for the reaction! Persona was my first comeback, so it holds a special place in my heart. 💜
Jin made it funny by saying he screamed but he can actually hit the highnote easily upto C6
if you wanna get even more emo about mikrokosmos, mikrokosmos was the last song bts played during their 2019 tour, and the last song armys would hear live for years. over 2020 bts would continuously make remarks and quote lyrics from mikrokosmos to comfort us, especially "the darker the night, the brighter we shine," as a way of saying, even though we're being faced with such hardships and sadness, we still have each other, and we're still here. loved your reaction
Wow i am so emo about it even more😭
@@LexListens My last concert was May 19, 2019 at MetLife Stadium.
Wow - thanks for telling me this!! I am checking out MOTS7 Next!
In Disease Jin goes to C6 note(a high female note)
about Boy With Luv
"The Korean title, 작은 것들을 위한 시, means “a poem for small things.” When asked to talk about the song, RM said, “It’s about finding little joy in love, being curious about the little things, the details like what you’re eating, what you’re doing. But, most importantly, Boy With Luv is like a fan letter from BTS to ARMY. That’s the most important thing.”"
-doolset
Dionysus plays on Korean word "sool(alcohol)" and "yesool(art/the sool here has a different root)" where yesool has sool in it. Dionysis is born twice, once from his mother and once again from his father's thigh. Likewise, BTS here is celebrating that they are born twice, once as an idol and once again as an artist.
If you cried for Mikrokosmos, wait till you hear We Are Bulletproof: The Eternal ✋😭😭
I'm super happy for all the support you're getting. You're doing great 💜💜
One thing though: Dionysus isn't really about getting drunk 😅. I think for the next album review, Doolset Bangtan would be the most useful tool.l, coz just like you, I'm also a lyrics girl.
But I feel she should see all referenced videos first, to really get the full meaning...
@@kellygb4370 That too!
I was literally crying listen to we are bulletproof eternal and the truth untold 😭
8:05 the beat is from their previous song Intro: Skool Luv Affair (2014)
When you get to map of the soul 7 in the future you’ll see how they explore their hidden side (shadow) too and how it all comes together to form their true identity (ego) 💜
why am i crying 💜
i would recommend using doolset bangtan for the lyrics if you really wanna do a deep dive/analysis, since they give more context in terms of culture and literature (plus the colour coded lyrics really aren't that accurate) always love your reactions! 💜
Yes!! Next time!!
@@LexListens thank youuu looking forward to it 🥰
I'm the same when he raps lol totally understand! Love your reactions.
Who raps?
@@kpopwrld9561 sorry realized I didn't specify and i was talking about RM.
@@elizabethwilke3188 ok
Mikrokosmos is usually the last song they play in concerts (before the encores), it’s such a beautiful moment, a fantastic way to say goodbye. Here in Brazil Armys chant the song with tears in their eyes, the boys cry too, it’s just beautiful. 🥲 Home it’s one of my favorites. They have a video done in a tv show where they sing it wearing PJ’s! I just adore it. Highly recommended.
From Jimmy Fallon.
@@kathygriffith5164 that one is good too, but my favorite is a live performance in a Korean Tv show called KBS World TV
If you wanna cry listen to love myself answer, magic shop, we are bulletproof ethernal, truth untold. The lyrics are so beautiful. I literally cry everytime I hear it.
Congratulations on 10k subs. Love your reactions 💜
LOVED THIS
i hope we'll be doing more of ablum reactions
Yes, of course🤪💓
Make it right has an MV, 2 actually, one for the original song and one for the version feat. Lauv. Both are lovely and well worth a watch 💜
I was just watching your reaction to Jimin 😂
Love that you're getting into BTS' discography! My faves in this album are BWL and Home (you might wanna check out the Jimmy Fallon performance. It's the music video we never had.)
Also, BTS grouping themselves in songs is called a "subunit". It's not uncommon for them to do this especially for the rapline and vocal line.
Popular Subunit Song Samples are:
Friends - V & Jimin (Map of the Soul 7)
Respect - RM & Suga (Map of the Soul 7)
Fly To My Room - V, Suga, Jimin , Jhope (BE)
Stay - RM, Jin, JK (BE)
Rapline: Ugh, Ddaeng, Cyphers, Outro:Tear
Vocal line: Truth Untold, House of Cards, Dimple
This whole album is so, so good. Home and mikrokosmos are up there in terms of fave songs for me period with them. I recommend watching the Jimmy Fallon performance of home. It’s so good. Congratulations!
The “but kim namjoon” part refers to how people use him as a punching bag. Haters would bring up his past mistakes every time their fave’s recent mistakes are being talked about, ignoring the fact that he has personally apologized and talked about them, even taking steps to learn and grow from them.
Awwww that’s so sad!! I have so much appreciation for RM.
pretty sure that's not the meaning...
it's used as a way to remind himself of who he really is. so instead of the rm persona he keeps up, 'but kim namjoon' or 'but i'm kim namjoon' reminds him of who he really is.
i guess it's really up to interpretation, anyways.
@@meika_lee Its a pretty well known definition of "but kim namjoon" among army and the kpop community, its even in the urban dictionary
But I agree, at the end of the day its up to one's own interpretation. Yours is also a pretty interesting take
I agree with the Tonight Show Home performance suggestions! A YT reaction will get blocked, but it’s definitely a must-see 💜
And once you hear JK’s imitation of V’s “Crazy for myself…” you’ll never be able to un-hear it 😂 (That goes for all his imitations. Check out some Jungkook copying everything compilations lol)
I only say: Rrrrrrrap Monster. Jung Kook several times imitated an older man naming all BTS members
The highnote at 34:19 is by jin
That high note in Dionysus was from jin btw....
23:25 You are going to LOVE RM's collab with Fall out boy if you like him rapping in english. He raps fully in english in that song. It's named Champion!!
No freaking way
@@LexListens yes freaking way haha
For example, there’s ANPANMAN, the story of which centers around a Japanese animated character (the “weakest superhero,” who goes around saving hungry children by offering them pieces of his head, which is made of bread), to which BTS compare themselves.
th-cam.com/video/qkLMPihvKaQ/w-d-xo.html
Next is GO GO, A bop of a song that seems to be scolding millennials for overspending and wasting their money, making dumb decisions, but told in a really fun way! (The HEART performance of this song is also really fun)
th-cam.com/video/8YpVt43Aqvk/w-d-xo.html
Another is 21ST CENTURY GIRLS, Dedicated to those the title suggests! The choreography is really cute here.
th-cam.com/video/8YpVt43Aqvk/w-d-xo.html
Also, there actually are dance practices for the latter two songs, and they are both part of the group of infamous Halloween dance practices that BTS have put out over the years. You gotta check those out! (It’s important to note that in the dance practice for GO GO, our dear V is subdued and quiet, yet gives it his all, because a friend of his had recently passed away.)
And some of BTS‘s earliest songs are among their hippest, coolest songs ever! Please check out one of my favorites, LOOK HERE! You’ll love RM’s part in this piece! th-cam.com/video/VBxF_jjGUJY/w-d-xo.html (I couldn’t find the video of my favorite live performance from back in the day, so here’s their performance at 2017’s FESTA - the yearly celebration of the anniversary of their debut, which lasts for two weeks!)
I have lots more to say, but better stop here.
But the ccoded lyrics mess up Jin and JK , when Jin sings it shows JK

THIS jk Lamp sold out so fast!
I was literally paying for it and confirming my payment and than it was sold out. I blame the loading it took too long to load. I was soo close.😪
20:59 if you think v and jimin's voice sounds great together then you should liften to their song 'Friends' which is by Jimin and V
At 16:55 it's similar to micro cosmos. Doing a great job, nice to see you enjoying the album, some really great songs on there. They're all good but some are just 'chef's kiss'!

mikrokosmos is soo beautiful! i listen to it everytime i'm feeling down and this song just give me so much comfort really, i cried everytime
Mikrokosmos always gets me emotional too😭
Seeing you discovering BTS’s journey (with your baby & your dog & your kitten nearby) is giving me a joy, to know there is an increasing number of people having their day brighter by BTS’s tireless works & efforts, beyond the language barriers.

RM in English sounds really native English speaker no doubt. He has a collab with Wale called Change , if you want you can check it out
Hello friend I just wanted to give you a bit more in depth and detailed explanation of each song on this album.
INTRO : PERSONA by RM
The primary theme of “Persona” is RM questioning who he is as an individual.
Halsey (A Poem of Small Things literal title translation from Korean)
Vibrant, both in terms of setting and the lyrics, this is one of the most optimistic videos released by BTS.
MikroKosmos
Playing with homophone “microcosm” and “mikrokosmos”, BTS are offering another facet of their relationship with the ARMYs.
Make It Right
"Make it Right" was co-written by Ed Sheeran.
PART 2 OF MY COMMENT
Home
In their title track, “Boy With Luv”, RM says: “wings of Icarus, not towards the sun but you, let me fly”.
Jamais vu
The first sub-unit song and the only ballad track from the mini album, Jamais vu features Jin, Jungkook, and J-Hope.
Dionysus
The concept images of this Album were an exciting moment for art lovers and Greek Literature enthusiasts.
Also, looking deeper into the lyrics, it shows self reflection such as when Suga raps, “What does it matter if I’m an idol or an artist?” It links back to their previous song "Idol" that asked the same reflective questions."
So as you can see BTS albums are very complex and deep.
I think this is an album where the lyrics are even more important than usual.”
So I hope this will help you understand this album in a better way, and welcome to the fandom dear 💜
@@dorijiminiarmy Merci j'ai beaucoup aimé tes explications!
Thanks for the thorough explanations! Going to take some time to process it all. Also goes to show just how unique and special BTS and it’s individual members are. A once in a lifetime group of humble talented kings.

Make it right actually has a Music Video, there is two versions of the song, the one with only bts, and one featuring Lauv.
Love the BTS Vertical MV version! 🥰
Make it right has a music video, it's for a version where they collaborated with Lauv. Please watch!
If you loved Make It Right, you should check out their official MV for the song with Lauv!
(no shade, I was just jamming and then it cut and it's like my fave part on the whole album so it cut deep. haha)
Aw I’m sorrrryyyyyyyyyyyyy
If you liked the songs on this album you should really react to the BTS Week performances on Jimmy Fallon. They are live performances filmed during quarantine and the scale of some of them are literally insane. They do Dynamite first, then Mikrocosmos and Home from this album, and black swan from MOTS7 and then finally Idol. Plus not to mention their visuals are absolutely stunning. Honestly every performance bts has done on Jimmy Fallon is literally incredible, so I'd definitely recommend any jimmy Fallon performances if you have time haha. Also Butter on Jimmy Fallon is like,,, really really hot just sayin 👀
you should check out bts week on Jimmy Fallon show the Home performance
i’ve been a fan since 2019 and i had been waiting to hear mikrokosmos live for 2 years....that wait was finally over when they performed it the last day of PTD on stage in LA......i broke down and literally wouldn’t stop crying it was definitely a core memory tho i will never forget that feeling.
I think you will also fall in love with BE. It's their most recent album and it's personally my favorite
Make it Right was also kinda a single release, with a few MV's one including vocals from Lauv. Persona also has an MV
Oh my gosh, I love ur reaction and I'm one of ur fans now
I want you to react Whistle by Blackpink
FYI I subscribe ur channel
Happy 10k subscriber

Listening to your intro, reading your description, can't wait for this reaction... let's gooooo! 💜
ye that's Jin in the back with the highnote for Dionysus
Still waiting for your spring day reaction 🙂
Coming soon - needs to be edited :)
@@LexListens so excited for that 🤩
Jamais Vu is the opposite of Deja Vu.
Great reaction I love this album, I still looking forward to the bts hardships video.
All filmed - just needs to be edited! Coming soon!
Not sure if other Army’s have recommended this performance or not - it’s the comeback stage for Dionysus, Make it Right and Boy with Luv. th-cam.com/video/ZcZ6DbxqH8s/w-d-xo.html
It’s one of my fave and I’m pretty sure you’ll love it too!
My first language wasn't vocal, soo that's make couple of us (ARMYs.) :3
we highly recommend MAGIC SHOP, it's the best ever song from them to their fans.
Ugh yesss I’m so happy you’ve reacted to this 😩
Aww yaaaaay! Congrats and I'm so excited to watch this one 💜
I really enjoyed your video 🥰 keep going!
The lyric video has too many misinterpretation so i recommend you to check up the doolset lyrics.😊
I’ve missed ! Hi 👋🏻 Alexis!! This was a Great Album!!!
u need to watch their performances they did during Jimmy Fallon's BTS Week. their performance of Mikrokosmos is everything
Feel like you would love the We Are Bulletproof: The Eternal song and mv.
I love Mikrokosmos. It is so pretty. But the whole album is so good. But than again there are not many songs that I don't like from BTS.
Ah I can't wait till you listen to MOTS7. So many masterpieces
Congrats on 10k! Make It Right, so good! 🙌 Check out Home on Jimmy Fallon. So fun! 💜
my favorite BTS song of all time
"Make It Right" and there's actually a music video.
