Donald Byrd once stepped up to me at a jazz club in Manhattan back in 2000 where I was sitting down watching a young jazz trio doing their thing, three young white guys and they were jamming hard so I requested to spit a few lyrics that I knew would merge well with the melodies. Once a break came in they kindly invited me up and we destroyed the place, got a roar of applause with a standing ovation. Donald had been in the crowd saw me, and came to my table where I was seated and basically interviewed me asking about what I had been doing with my talent. I was casually talking to him the whole time not having the slightest clue as to who he was, or was supposed to be. I was accompanied by a famous Manhattan show promoter who was impressed that I had friends like Donald Byrd, but not realizing at that time I didn't know him I was just talking to some random reporter guy I thought. Donald gave me his number and told me to call him he wanted me for a Jazzmatazz volume 2. After he left my boy was like yo I didn't know you knew Donald Byrd and I was like who's that..... Lol I was clueless ..... Definitely learned
