Starting AQUAPONICS! Moving a HUGE FISH TANK into our transformed water cistern!

  • The former water cistern is finally finished, and it surpassed all of our expectations. This week we're moving in a gigantic water tank to start Marc's ingenious aquaponics plans.
We live in a medieval castle with a huge, derelict estate in southern France. Follow our ambitious garden projects, from vineyards to formal gardens, tropical plants to self-sustainability. Our project is enormous and our enthusiasm contagious. We'd love you to join us.

Oh nooooo! Not the demise of the Safety Sandals! Marc is like me: fix the old shoes as they could still be functional; buy new ones for "later." I thought I was the only one who did that. I'll bet Amy loves that.🤦‍♀) Loving the entire storage tank vision and execution from start to finish. I look forward to seeing the aquaponics set up, the choice of fish and plants. As it's Marc, I'm expecting salmon and strawberries in a few years. (They are notoriously hard to produce.)🍓🐬

I found it interesting that you used a fish tank for your aquaponics system. My son-in-law has been doing aquaponics for years and he doesn't use a fish tank, he uses an IBC. He has an amazing set up in his little green house. I have noticed when I looked into doing it, that everyone here in Australia just uses IBCs or other large containers possibly to stop the sun as most people have them outside in a greenhouse. They don't need to see the fish except for checking their health and feeding, etc. I hope it all goes well. Thank goodness you have Margo! She is such a blessing to you both.

@@LostGardensofChateauRosieres There’s upcycling and there’s upcycling. Repurposing something you already have without destroying it is fine and it’s what you do. Destroying something for some passing fashion trend is sacrilegious. I hate seeing beautiful wood veneer painted over just to be shabby chic. I see a lot of refinishers removing that paint now, just like with Marc’s oak desk, and restoring the original wood surface. I am loving the greenhouses being restored and repurposed.
