I was cutting bowl cuts in the 80's. That is what this is. A pixie is a short layered cuts. As close as you can cut with your fingers. This is a bowl cut with textured ends.
I am over 60 and I have a bob haircut that is slightly longer than my chin. I have been told by hair stylists that a bob is too young of a style for me and that I should get a cute pixie cut. This video is the reason why I will not let anyone attempt to give me a pixie cut. I now have a stylist who will cut my hair the way I want it.
Pixie Bob's are very in at the moment. Shorter at the back with longer layers at the front but you need a good stylist to cut it not like this butcher.
I'm a senior too and I got a haircut just like this one 6 months ago at Great Clips for $12. I was so traumatized that I haven't had a haircut since. I went in looking like a woman and came out looking like a man with a bowl haircut. The stylist (if you can even call him that, didn't even ask me what I wanted, just started chopping and shearing. Stylists do not understand that senior woman are already feeling less feminine than they used to be because of menopause. To give them a haircut that looks manly only adds insult to injury. There are lot of cute and FEMININE pixie cuts out there that look feminine and sexy. This was NOT one of them.

Actually, I think it looks great on her. Gave her more volume ad lift. Made her hair look soft and full. Easy blow dry and go style and always put together. Not everyone can wear this cut, but this woman pulls it off. I thought the same thing at first, until finished. She does not look like a man.
This is why I do my own hair, they always seem to do what they want to do and not what I want. If I messed it up then it’s my fault. I don’t want to pay someone to mess up my haircut.
Cutting my hair I was fed up doing it myself. Then went to go have another hair cut done at same place different stylist. I thought she did a pretty good job. I was impressed with her using the blade for volume done at top in the back. But after a day I styled it the way I wanted it and it wasn't what I liked. I did an over do and cut myself and now am pretty happy with my hair cut results.
Do the same myself. Did go to Supercuts the first time and stylist do a pretty good job. I was very satisfied with my first haircut even after 16 years of cutting my

She took a new look and made it into a typical old lady cut, especially in the back where her hair could have been been blended more and left longer. My opinion.
I know it's not an easy job. Used to do it several years ago. Lousy pay, no benefits (at least back then), and some people think you don't have brains. Not true. It takes a lot of talent, patience and listening skills to be a good licensed hairdresser. I got bored with it and left it for better things. Word of mouth, I guess, to find a good one.
I love the short hair! It's so liberating from my thick unruly hair and a tub full of hair tools, pins and products I have to use when its long. Because of that a I would often end up putting it in a ponytail anyway!
No part of this horrific video was a pixie. It looked like a student struggling their way thru an undercut, disconnected Bob. This was painful and if this was done to my mom or grandmother I would have HUMILIATED the fool who did this!
From the beginning with that erratic movement of the clippers in damp hair, it just went from bad to worse. I would never put such a closely-shaved haircut on a senior woman...never!
Hint. You dont cut wet hair with clippers.only dry hair. When you cut wet hair they don't cut and you have the problems you are having as shown in this video.

I have the same cut. I cut it myself. I was mesmerized watching the stylist. I use multiple mirrors. I don't suggest anyone do what I do. I have been cutting my hair that way for decades. (Not the style, with mirrors).
As someone who has worn short hair all their life, this was a very poor cut. Her use of clippers was excessive and will cause problems as the hair grows out. Ladies if you are thinking of going short, make sure of the stylists ability to do it right the first cut and not have to keep going back and fixing mistakes.

As soon as I saw the clippers trying to cut wet hair I knew that’s where the mistake began. Then cutting above the occipital bone. Then going back in with the trimmers. Should have used a much larger guard and dried the nape first for shrinkage. Then tapered with the next guard down. Should have scissor cut all the to and anything above occipital. Stick with scissors your good with them.
It happened to me 2 weeks ago. Still regretting. You know of your haircut is bad when NOBODY AT WORK SAYS A WORD ABOU IT.. my hair was shoulder length.

Yes. Some punish you if you say the wrong thing, rub them the wrong way, are happy or attractive. Two stylists were laughing after she chopped off all my long hair with Dracula sideburns. I asked for shoulder length cut. A gay guy got an attitude and chopped my hair so unbalanced. It's sad. You get mistreated and bullied even at salons Women and men are mean. I've had lots of those experiences and now I never go to salons.

My daughter is nearly 25 and does her own hair now and she has NEVER been to a hairdresser. We have done all our own dyeing work too. You keep doing what you are doing and get the look you want without the aggravation and mental trauma.

Something went terribly wrong with the undercut I'm assuming. It's so hard to find a good stylist. I had a girl that cut my hair for 10 -12 years or longer. I could go to her and just say "cut my hair". She always asked what I wanted and usually I told her just cut it. She gave me some amazing styles over the years. I just get the clippers and go to it now. I've had my hair really messed up by stylists. My hair is literally 2 inches long on top or a little shorter and it's very short on sides and back. How do you mess that up? But they do somehow.
I'm planning a pixie cut & will use this video on what NOT TO DO WITH MY HAIR !!! I'll be going from long to very short and I'm really scared I'll get a man cut. Anytime I’m forced to go to a new operator the first thing I say is, “Keep in mind please, that when I walk out of here, I will be either your best or your worst advertisement”. Bless this poor woman’s heart. That horrid cut will take a while to grow out 🤨.

I really hope this lady liked her haircut because it took the stylist a very long time just to cut her hair using clippers mostly due to her leaving her hair wet and partly because I think she was trying to cover up her mistakes. After clipping, she cut her hair making sure to cut evenly, then ended up clipping that part too. I do hope she liked her haircut!

Well, I am truly blessed. I have a my hair cut every two weeks. It grows fast and I just tell my beautician, no problem, it will grow out! We just know not to do that again.

You have to tell the hair stylist, when to stop cutting your hair. If you feel it's too short, you have the right to say something when you are sitting in the chair. Don't wait until it's too late! You can't get back your hair, once it's cut, especially, if it's too short for you. I have been through this so many times with different hair stylists. I can never get the right haircut for my type of hair. It's so frustrating and very stressful to say the least. Now, I just cut my hair myself and do it the way I want it done, instead of the way someone else says it should be done. Just remember, hair stylists are paid to cut your hair with your money, not theirs. So, you should try to get the kind of haircut you want, not what they want. Just saying. 😊
Soooo bad! My hair was shoulder length..angled at the front I just loved it. The hairdresser asked if I wanted the same lines I said I did and only wanted went a trim. She cut it above my ears!! ..longer in the back..she butchered me. I'm 72 years old..I cried for a week. I know, why is it when you sit down they start in like they're being tracked with a stop watch, ridiculous. The last time I went in she left one whole side of my hair uncut in the back, like a dogs ear. The next mistake she did what I had to cut her hair wet with the Clippers. Hair gets bunched up in the Clippers and causes those awful knicks. She messed up on the first go-around so now she had to try and cover up the mess he made. I was a hairdresser I know what I'm talking about. I'm wondering if this is in Beauty School

Yes. It's terrible. Sylists seem to cut and shave off hair like an obsession and the customer is subjected to a bad hair cut and sadness afterwards when they looked forward to looking better. What a let down. I remember my long hair being chipped off so short I felt horrible. The stylist did it intentionally since she had an attitude. Probably competitive. Never again.

This cut is something you’d see on an 18 year old aspiring rock star...little boy band. She now practically has no hair but she’ll still have to use a hot roller in order to keep from being super embarrassed every time she has to go out. And it is going to grow out totally funky.
I'm 69 with white, white, curly, curly hair....down to the middle of my back. I call it my "covid' hair. It goes up in a lovely, curly bun which makes me look so much younger. In Florida, my curly bun beats the heat and the humidity. It's the way our foresisters wore it.
This awful haircut is why I cut and color mine myself!!! I'm 71 and have a very short pixie with longer bangs swept tp the side!! Love it and takes very little upkeep. This ladies hair looks very chopped up in the back. 😏

I understand that a head of thin hair is far more difficult to cut so I would never have attempted that cut on hair that thin! What a disaster.

I am 50 years old had lovely thick wavy shoulder length hair was growing out my old color during covid. Went to a saloon to get it cut she did an absolutely horrendous. Undercut thinned out my fringe it is wispy and stringy. Similar to this lady. , I reckon she was jealous as her own bleached blonde hair was wafer thin. I got a full refund I will never go back to a hairdresser again. When it grows back I shall plait it , put in a bun like my Spanish nana did

I just feel that older woman as myself can’t do the undercut because of thinning hair. This look is very bowl like and this lady needs some style and height. She broke up the haircut in two parts and ended up shaving the part that she just texturized...didn’t make sense. I have a pixie but it’s much more stylish. She would have been better of with a very short non shaven textured pixie with movement. Just my thoughts.

As a former stylist, I can say this is a very common haircut for older gals. It's perfect for gray and thinning hair. Easy to maintain which is also important for seniors, especially those with mobility problems. Well done.
I am 75 and went to s walk in cheap place for a TRIM...told the lady not TOO short as the last person cut it too short. She cut it even shorter....looked like a man. Cried when I got home and wound not go out of my house. With my hair white and thin, you could see my scalp. I hate it.

Sorry that you've had mostly bad experiences with haircuts. All hairdressers aren't that careless, though. I don't know why some get scissor happy and scattered while others are very mindful of what they're doing, and they listen to the client's needs. :(
I gave up on hairdressers long ago. I got tired of them not listening to what I wanted, pictures didn't even help and then they talk so much i have to wonder if they are paying any attention to what they are doing. i cut my own hair short and i like it better.

Ladies if you are thinking of going short, make sure of the stylists ability to do it right the first cut and not have to keep going back and fixing mistakes.

As soon as I saw the clippers trying to cut wet hair I knew that’s where the mistake began. Then cutting above the occipital bone. Then going back in with the trimmers. Should have used a much larger guard and dried the nape first for shrinkage. Then tapered with the next guard down. Should have scissor cut all the to and anything above occipital. Stick with scissors your good with them.
It happened to me 2 weeks ago. Still regretting. You know of your haircut is bad when NOBODY AT WORK SAYS A WORD ABOU IT.. my hair was shoulder length.
You are all just killing me. A hairdresser JUST butchered me with this same cut. Asked her to neaten up what I did (left 3" all around, needed blending). THIS was my punishment.
Maybe you should have not started a cut yourself? Maybe she had to go that short because you butchered yourself.
Yes. Some punish you if you say the wrong thing, rub them the wrong way, are happy or attractive. Two stylists were laughing after she chopped off all my long hair with Dracula sideburns. I asked for shoulder length cut. A gay guy got an attitude and chopped my hair so unbalanced. It's sad. You get mistreated and bullied even at salons Women and men are mean. I've had lots of those experiences and now I never go to salons.
Watching this made me nauseous. The incessant cutting felt like being a prisoner of the hairdresser's obsession with cutting. When will she stop? I get my short silver hair cut at a barber shop. Hairdressers are like out-of-control surgeons.
@@SA-ud9nf I gave up with the masochistic hairdressers bought a comb scissors and do it myself now. Saved thousands of dollars as I now do all our cuts in house. My daughter is nearly 25 and does her own hair now and she has NEVER been to a hairdresser. We have done all our own dyeing work too. You keep doing what you are doing and get the look you want without the aggravation and mental trauma.

Something went terribly wrong with the undercut I'm assuming. It's so hard to find a good stylist. I had a girl that cut my hair for 10 -12 years or longer. I could go to her and just say "cut my hair". She always asked what I wanted and usually I told her just cut it. She gave me some amazing styles over the years. I just get the clippers and go to it now. I've had my hair really messed up by stylists. My hair is literally 2 inches long on top or a little shorter and it's very short on sides and back. How do you mess that up? But they do somehow.

I had a very good stylist who "KNEW" my hair before I moved & now I'm procrastinating 🙃 a drastic cut. I had brain surgery years ago that left scaring and aging has thinned my hair.. I really hope this lady liked her haircut because it took the stylist a very long time just to cut her hair using clippers mostly due to her leaving her hair wet and partly because I think she was trying to cover up her mistakes. After clipping, she cut her hair making sure to cut evenly, then ended up clipping that part too. I do hope she liked her haircut!
She didn't look happy. It shouldn't take that long. Seniors get tired. One needed an ambulance sitting so long.

Well, I am truly blessed. I have a my hair cut every two weeks. It grows fast and I just tell my beautician, no problem, it will grow out! We just know not to do that again.

You have to tell the hair stylist, when to stop cutting your hair. If you feel it's too short, you have the right to say something when you are sitting in the chair. Don't wait until it's too late! You can't get back your hair, once it's cut, especially, if it's too short for you. I have been through this so many times with different hair stylists. I can never get the right haircut for my type of hair. It's so frustrating and very stressful to say the least. Now, I just cut my hair myself and do it the way I want it done, instead of the way someone else says it should be done. Just remember, hair stylists are paid to cut your hair with your money, not theirs. So, you should try to get the kind of haircut you want, not what they want. Just saying. 😊

She cut it above my ears!! ..longer in the back..she butchered me. I'm 72 years old..I cried for a week. I know, why is it when you sit down they start in like they're being tracked with a stop watch, ridiculous. The last time I went in she left one whole side of my hair uncut in the back, like a dogs ear. I was driving in the car and I could just feel it and I reach back there and I thought oh my god you're kidding me, that's 3 yrs ago and haven't stepped foot into a salon

I knew it would be a disaster from the start when I saw the type of calm she was using. Become she used is not a styling comb. The next mistake she did what I had to cut her hair wet with the Clippers. Hair gets bunched up in the Clippers and causes those awful knicks. She messed up on the first go-around so now she had to try and cover up the mess he made. I was a hairdresser I know what I'm talking about. I'm wondering if this is in Beauty School

I cringed at how much hair was cut off with the clippers. Her hair was so fine and thin you just saw scalp. Looked like the haircut my boys got when they were young.

Yes. It's terrible. Sylists seem to cut and shave off hair like an obsession and the customer is subjected to a bad hair cut and sadness afterwards when they looked forward to looking better. What a let down. I remember my long hair being chipped off so short I felt horrible. The stylist did it intentionally since she had an attitude. Probably competitive. Never again.

This cut is something you’d see on an 18 year old aspiring rock star...little boy band. She now practically has no hair but she’ll still have to use a hot roller in order to keep from being super embarrassed every time she has to go out. And it is going to grow out totally funky.

I'm 69 with white, white, curly, curly hair....down to the middle of my back. I call it my "covid' hair. It goes up in a lovely, curly bun which makes me look so much younger. In Florida, my curly bun beats the heat and the humidity. It's the way our foresisters wore it.

I can do this with a feather razor. Makes it much more feminine. No lines and way faster. The razor on white hair is so much softer.

This awful haircut is why I cut and color mine myself!!! I'm 71 and have a very short pixie with longer bangs swept tp the side!! Love it and takes very little upkeep. This ladies hair looks very chopped up in the back. 😏

I can't believe anyone even posted this. I spent my life cutting family and friends hair. My own as well. I did a cut like this a bazillion times with far less time and much better results. I understand that a head of thin hair is far more difficult to cut so I would never have attempted that cut on hair that thin! What a disaster.

I am 50 years old had lovely thick wavy shoulder length hair was growing out my old color during covid. Went to a saloon to get it cut she did an absolutely horrendous. Undercut thinned out my fringe it is wispy and stringy. Similar to this lady. , I reckon she was jealous as her own bleached blonde hair was wafer thin. I got a full refund I will never go back to a hairdresser again. When it grows back I shall plait it , put in a bun like my Spanish nana did

I wish I could say the same thing! I used to have very thick healthy hair but then I got covid twice and now my hair is fine, thin and frizzy. I am 66 and it isn’t growing back. So sad.

I just feel that older woman as myself can’t do the undercut because of thinning hair. This look is very bowl like and this lady needs some style and height. She broke up the haircut in two parts and ended up shaving the part that she just texturized...didn’t make sense. I have a pixie but it’s much more stylish. She would have been better of with a very short non shaven textured pixie with movement. Just my thoughts.

As a former stylist, I can say this is a very common haircut for older gals. It's perfect for gray and thinning hair. Easy to maintain which is also important for seniors, especially those with mobility problems. Well done.

I am 75 and went to s walk in cheap place for a TRIM...told the lady not TOO short as the last person cut it too short. She cut it even shorter....looked like a man. Cried when I got home and wound not go out of my house. With my hair white and thin, you could see my scalp. I hate it.

since hairdressers had to close down in early 2020 Ive been cutting my own pixie cut..... its the best. Never going to a hair studio again. Saved my time and money.

Sorry that you've had mostly bad experiences with haircuts. All hairdressers aren't that careless, though. I don't know why some get scissor happy and scattered while others are very mindful of what they're doing, and they listen to the client's needs. :(
I gave up on hairdressers long ago. I got tired of them not listening to what I wanted, pictures didn't even help and then they talk so much i have to wonder if they are paying any attention to what they are doing. i cut my own hair short and i like it better.
