Music of AFX is some of my favorite so far .. but it makes me feel strangely. It's great his music and I am happy for it, but it also makes me realise I can't write music worth anything ... I want to stop and just listen to his. -_- all day
It's only worth something if you enjoyed the end result. That is all that matters. If other people happen to like it, it's a extra blessing. Make it for YOUR ears and see what happens.
I love how most of the comments are about the quote. I love these little communities within these uploads... So much less toxic than just about everywhere else :)
It's easy to imagine songs like this, but it's difficult to actually record the sounds that you hear in your head. (I've tried - I think I'll need to improvise vocals to approximate the abstract electronic sounds that I'm imagining.)
Alex Hansen I remember this comment multiple times throughout every month in my life in multiple places, on the train from-to work, in a restaurant, walking on the beach, everywhere basically. It's just.. so true. Only now i decided to tell you, haha.
Eddie Van Halen never listens to his own music and several other artists either don't like to or don't believe in listening to your own music. Idk why I mean if you make great music then fuck it it's great!!
@@TTuoTT yeah because you are the one who know the best what type of music you like so you are the only one who can make music that is precisely tailored to your taste
There are plenty of brilliant tracks on the Analord EP's, and despite listening to them a ton, I am still finding new things to appreciate about them. Something about this song's composition and sounds though just keep me coming back to it, and living it every single time.
I got into Aphex Twin after listening to Come to Daddy one night a few years ago and I decided to look up his discography, and so far I have not been disappointed.
It's a whole other world. Very prolific. Make sure to check out all of the RDJ monikers. My first intro was the selected ambient works. 2 volumes I think. Back in very early 90s.
If i were you I would be happy... because that means that you found your inspiration and your mentor. There are many people that are lost because they don't have any of those things...
That's actually a quote from Richard D. James himself talking about his own music. :p It could sound arrogant to some people to like listening to your own music the best, but to be fair, it's got to be hard not to enjoy Aphex, even if you're him yourself.
GREAT TRACK FROM ANALORD. THIS AND CRYING IN YOUR FACE ARE MY 2 FAVORITES. IT NEEDS A BETTER SOUNDSYSTEM THAN A LAPTOP... AND A LOT MORE THAN 480 QUALITY IN TH-cam...
Reading the description, I don't see how it's arrogant to favor and prefer a certain kind of music. What would be arrogant, would be to assert that it's superior to any other music.
it was released on rephlex only, and I think is discontinued at the moment. It's never been released on anything like itunes/spotify/etc. He SHOULD imho.
Using a step sequencer to control the filter cutoff of the sh-101. So the name of the track is literally a description of how it was made. Its not a 303 but i would still call it acid.
I think he meant that his moniker at the time of all the Analords was AFX, that matters to a Richard David James fan. And stop it with the cursing, kind sir.
such a badass acid beat with all the twists and turns youd expect from him. the criminal mastermind of electronic music strikes again.
your music is my favourite also

I love the quote. Music like this is music directly from feeling and the soul so it makes perfect sense to me

I love that build up and how the main synth change the melody completely at 04:01
god, that roland is such a fine piece of hardware.

Isn't that why anyone makes music though? To create their favorite music?

yes but not all succeed ..lol
Yes, only because they couldn't find what they liked. So they made it themselves. This is generally true for anyone who seriously enjoys the craft.
Just realized his name is Rick James.
Bitchin!
Or Dick James

I don't think it's arrogant at all. It's such great music.
Also its makes a lot of sence to like the music you made yourself most.

dude aphex has so many songs that are just like out there you gotta come across them like this. I mean that.
This song was linked to me by a Meshuggah video, apparently these must share something in common.
Actually, they do, they are both fucking awesome.

You got that right my friend! He uses 303's in ways other artists haven't attempted!
@slitheringsinusoid The strangeness will pass and you will soon realize these are the beats of life
On his Analord series he uses a Fenix modular synthesizer, a Roland MC-4, and an Xoxo box.
I wanna hear this with the T69 collapse video.

i think the song title is refering to the roland sh101. which is one of r james commonly used piece of analog kit.
it's called the Slide button.... all 303's have them.
Melody sounds very Autechre
@Polaf3456 well (to be pendantic), he is using a different name. And also Richard D. James first.

how to make this track? this sound is acid?

As the title says, he heavily used the Roland SH-101 here... though the TB-303 mixes in too I guess :)
