  • This is the first time we have ever milled up Willow Oak and we love it. It is such a beautiful wood. Even though it falls into the Red Oak family, it is so much nicer than your 'standard' Red Oak. This wood is from a golf course that is part of the PGA tour and we are on a hard deadline to finish the wood in time for a tournament.
    Equipment we use include:
    Wood-Mizer LT40Wide
    Kubota MX5400
    Kubota R540 Wheel Loader
    Stihl 441 chainsaw
    Nyle L200M kiln
    Virginia Tech Designed Solar Kiln

So! One could say you cut the PITH out of those logs.

Cutting that log into flag sticks is a complete waste of timber. Unless you make them from the outer slabs.

That is what the customer wanted. There is a sentimental reason for it that we have been asked to honor. But that is only part of what they wanted. They will have almost 3,000 board feet of lumber to work with!
