A dance song that loops for over six minutes must be the hardest session to nail, not from a chops standpoint but an endurance one. It's almost all tension and no release, you're dying to lash out and play a fill but have to make it groove.
Yes that is a DW Black Nickel over Brass. I bought it a few years ago. I came across it in a music store and really liked it. The price was surprisingly reasonable for a DW Collectors Series drum.
Hi Mr. Nocella. I´ve trying to play this masterpiece of drumming, and its very hard. My question is, if possible, to share the drum partition of this? I´m trying to understand the rhythmic relation between snare/kick drum... and the bloody ghost notes.. Thanks in advance.. and love and respect from Chile.
Sorry I don't have any drum tab or sheet music. You can try playing the video slower and practicing the basic groove slower at first. Gradually build up speed. Practice the sixteenth note pattern on the hi-hat with 2 & 4 on the snare - bass drum on 1 & the "uh" of 2. It's a good place to start.

That's some groove Ed Greene laid down. No wonder Barry used him for all his 70s music. Very nice playing. You made it look easy.
Deep pocket groove. Looks like you got a DW snare. Good job, Joe.

Very well done drum cover. You can see everything you need to see, the music doesn’t overpower the drums. Great instructional video. Thanks.
