We have a Balsam Hill fake tree and it basically doesn't require any fluffing! the entire limbs are the realistic stuff. so they just fall into place when you open each section. the Balsam Hill trees are not cheap, but we have had our Sentinel Fir one for 4 years now and it looks brand new still. and looks very real. super super easy!
I never do a star or angel at the top of my tree. I tie a bow around the base of the top branch that sticks out the top and have long(like 2 ft long) ribbons come down that I drape on the tree.
