    It’s a shame Vince would not see the value in Christian. When my friends and I were kids we would always mark out for Christian. He was so good in the ring and on the mic. I heard apparently Christian was supposed to be the one who was attacking Jeff hardy instead of Matt?

      Yeah, Christian was originally gonna return with that storyline, tying into Jeff’s feud with Edge, but Christian resigned with TNA last-minute.
      And considering how he was treated after he returned, I don’t blame him.
      Hell, longterm, Vince’s horrible treatment of Christian ultimately cost the WWE Edge, as well!

      Oh he saw the value without a doubt. Even a blind man could see how brilliant Christian Cage has always been. It's just tbat Vince chose to bury him on purpose for some crazy reason. My best guess is that he didn't like the fact that Christian got over with the crowd without him planning for that to happen. His vision was always for his boy Edge to be a major star and for Christian to just be another guy so when Christian got so over in 04-05 that offended that maniac's ego.

  • @BenjaminDarlingMusic

    I remember being so happy when Christian returned to WWE. I had followed watching him over to TNA and he was the reason I learned about their product. I was nervous he decided to go back but was hoping it’d lead to bigger things for him.
    While I was happy he was given the ECW title and led the brand, I really wanted him to debut on smackdown as the man who attacked Jeff and win the world title. They buried his title run in 2011 with dropping to Randy two days later after his big emotional win. Vince couldn’t see the gold he had in Christian.
    While I’m not a fan of Tony Khans booking, I’m glad he’s given the space for Christian to shine.

A phenomenal talent and a true professional. He gave so much to WWE despite Vince constantly holding him back. It’s always been from my understanding that the reason Christian left TNA wasn’t anything related to “I have unfinished business in WWE” it was because in 2008 the Great Recession happened and Christian was advised by Larry zbyszko to go back to WWE because he had to do what was right for his kids, his wife, and the big house he had. That due to the recession TNA was no longer going to be able to pay him the money he needed and Christian was actually willing to take that pay cut he liked how TNA was using him that much but Larry was like “no man do what’s best for your family financially”. And what I heard was WWE offered Christian to go to smackdown, win the big gold belt, be a main eventer, be used similarly to how he was used in TNA, have feuds with guys like undertaker and Batista. And then when he showed up they put him in ECW as a face with the ECW belt and basically told him “fix this. ECW isn’t working out” and put all that pressure on him to somehow become the biggest draw on ECW and fix the ratings.
    And let’s not forget what Vince did to Christian the moment he won the big gold belt finally. Orton says that he was talking to Christian and Vince walked up and said to them “did you hear that pop when you won the title? What a moment. Imagine how the crowd will react when Orton beats you for the belt in a few nights on smackdown” and Randy immediately said no. He wasn’t going to do that. It wasn’t fair to Christian or to the fans. They wanted him to be champion so bad and he’s not gonna do that and he says Christian just looked at him and said “let’s do it” it’s baffling to be honest. He’s such a selfless person. Willing to take pay cuts in TNA when the economy crashed. Willing to drop the big gold belt the minute he gets it if Vince tells him to. He deserved better in WWE.

    Apparently when Jeff Hardy was getting mysteriously attacked it was gonna be Christian returning and being the culprit but for some reason they scraped that idea and went with Matt

    • @TheGreatVivek7
      @TheGreatVivek7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      So the story back then was, Christian was supposed to return to Smackdown and win the title from Jeff Hardy (then champion), which would have set up his feud with Edge. This was his agreement with Vince when he (verbally) agreed his contract with WWE. However, Christian was a true professional and was a close friend of Dixie Carter, so he wanted to exit TNA properly by putting over the Main Event Mafia and by passing on the torch. Hence during his last TNA appearance Christian took an Angle slam and a scissor kick.
      Vince apparently was not happy with that, as he didn't want to feature a guy who got beaten up in a rival promotion to be feuding for the top title. Thus, Vince reportedly himself leaked the storyline of Christian being the "mysterious attacker", and he used the same excuse to cancel the storyline altogether and moved Christian to ECW.
      However, there are two versions of this story as recently Matt Hardy in his podcast revealed that he was always supposed to be the "mysterious attacker". I suppose the true identity of the mysterious attacker will truly remain mysterious.

    I still remember 2011 WWE being probably my biggest year as a fan, I was only 11 and into my second year of being a wrestling fan. For what ever reason while not being one of my absolute favourites at the time, Christian always had me in his corner. As soon as he won the world title I remember this sense of a weight being lifted off my shoulders, even though it was his hard work paying off, not mine! That’s how loved he was. So him losing the title to Randy, well let’s say it broke my 11 year old heart, apart of that heart still broken lol.

    McMahon is wrongly attributed to being a genius. He isn't and has never been a genius at all. Vince was a smart man who used other people's ideas and he implemented his version of them. He was lucky enough to use his surroundings to his advantage. But, McMahon didn't use a bunch of great talents or make them huge stars when they could've made him tons of money. Christian was one of those talents who had everything to be a great star and top guy. TNA proved Christian Cage was a top talent who was a main eventer. In my opinion, Christian should've stayed with TNA until he would eventually go to AEW. Because his last WWE run while entertaining, was a joke compared to his TNA and AEW runs. I do believe Vince had some weird hangup on Christian and was punishing him for going to TNA. He did the same thing with Kurt Angle's last run which further proves McMahon was never a genius.

He had a good run as World Heavyweight Champion he was one of many of my childhood to look back at the most. I didn’t understand why his run was so slow and the direction where he was going. After that’s when Randy Orton won the World Heavyweight Championship I didn’t like that direction cause Christian could’ve been better as a babyface until he turned heel. I enjoyed his promo in TNA he was himself and be authentic I wish he implemented that more in WWE when he returned. I ain’t gon lie if felt scary and great to see someone smoking a cigarette on camera again 🙌🏽
    JR prolly doesn’t even realize how big that is in the modern day.
    It feels like I (and JR now) are the only two left that actually still smoke 🤷🏽‍♂️😂 I love it n that regard.
    But, my second mind is saying JR isn’t too healthy to begin with at the moment. Should he really be doing that?
    But hey, that’s only my love for Good Ol JR kicking in. He’s a grown man and can do wat he wants 🤷🏽‍♂️

    Vince knew he couldn’t send Christain to Raw or Smackdown because JR and Michael Cole. Would have not agree to buried Christian when he return back in the WWE.
    However I am not surprised by Vince holding back a talent. He has done this many times to many wrestlers. He only wants to push who he wants to push. Exactly why Roman Reigns “The Guy” was pushed down our throat for many years.

    This proves that vince lost creative credibility after WCW was bought out. His ego got bigger, which is insane to think about in hindsight because he already had a massive ego prior. It's unfortunate he had his nose in everything because a lot of his ideas after 01 were creatively bankrupt afterward. He couldn't see the value in the great talent he had because he was completely inept and allergic to good ideas at that point and was all the more reason to remove him from creative but unfortunately that was impossible because it was his company.

    • @josephmelendez8370
      @josephmelendez8370 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Don't forget that he was like that before in the early 90's too. It wasn't until he got out of the way of the talent that the Attitude Era started and the business went up. Had it been up to him, HHH would've still been an autocrat, Austin would've been Ice Dagger, the Rock would've still been dressed in colorful tassles, and Mick Foley would've been Manson the Mutilator.

    • @micksawyer1112
      @micksawyer1112 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @josephmelendez8370 You are a hundred percent right! I remember in the attitude Era that was the closest we ever got to him, barely involved with creative because he was so desperate to not lose the company he tried all kinds of stuff outside of the norm and I remember watching countless interviews with Austin, Triple H, HBK and Taker just to name a few where they helped pushed a lot of the creative in order for them to pick the momentum up.
