And what I heard was WWE offered Christian to go to smackdown, win the big gold belt, be a main eventer, be used similarly to how he was used in TNA, have feuds with guys like undertaker and Batista. And then when he showed up they put him in ECW as a face with the ECW belt and basically told him “fix this. Imagine how the crowd will react when Orton beats you for the belt in a few nights on smackdown” and Randy immediately said no. He wasn’t going to do that. It wasn’t fair to Christian or to the fans. Apparently when Jeff Hardy was getting mysteriously attacked it was gonna be Christian returning and being the culprit but for some reason they scraped that idea and went with Matt
So the story back then was, Christian was supposed to return to Smackdown and win the title from Jeff Hardy (then champion), which would have set up his feud with Edge. This was his agreement with Vince when he (verbally) agreed his contract with WWE. However, Christian was a true professional and was a close friend of Dixie Carter, so he wanted to exit TNA properly by putting over the Main Event Mafia and by passing on the torch. Hence during his last TNA appearance Christian took an Angle slam and a scissor kick. Vince apparently was not happy with that, as he didn't want to feature a guy who got beaten up in a rival promotion to be feuding for the top title. Thus, Vince reportedly himself leaked the storyline of Christian being the "mysterious attacker", and he used the same excuse to cancel the storyline altogether and moved Christian to ECW. However, there are two versions of this story as recently Matt Hardy in his podcast revealed that he was always supposed to be the "mysterious attacker". I suppose the true identity of the mysterious attacker will truly remain mysterious.
I still remember 2011 WWE being probably my biggest year as a fan, I was only 11 and into my second year of being a wrestling fan. For what ever reason while not being one of my absolute favourites at the time, Christian always had me in his corner. As soon as he won the world title I remember this sense of a weight being lifted off my shoulders, even though it was his hard work paying off, not mine! That’s how loved he was. So him losing the title to Randy, well let’s say it broke my 11 year old heart, apart of that heart still broken lol. But he is getting the respect he deserves in AEW, despite the flaws with it at the moment! So even if he has to wait for a while. Christian’s hard work eventually paid off!
You missed out on Christian's best years then. He was mega over in 2005 and there were many segments with him sharing the ring with the likes of Dwayne Johnson and John Cena and guess what? He was more over than any of them. Years 2004 and 2005 belonged to Christian.
As a huge Christian Cage fan I'll always have a smile on my face knowing that Christian will always be a wrestling legend that's loved and respected everywhere he works. While Vinny the perv will forever be disowned by the company he wasted his life building! 😂

Christain early WWE run in the 90s - Mid 2000s was good his return run from 2009-2014 had it's moments, ups and downs. He won the ECW championship in his 2nd run twice dropped it the veteran Tommy dreamer at extreme rules 2009 then got it back at night of champions and held it until the last ever WWE ECW episode. Then in 2011 he won the world heavyweight championship twice, 2012 IC title then 2013-14 it was one of those he was in a World heavyweight championship match at SummerSlam 2013 and somehow managed to main event elimination Chamber 2014 for the WWE world heavyweight championship.

I don't think that he's talking too much about that because he knew that Vince didn't like Christian from the get go so he isn't giving much credence to that.
Baffles me how Vince didn't see anything in Christian. I could somewhat get that when he was with Edge and had the long hair. But once he had short hair, the guy looked like a star. Not saying he should've been the face of WWE or anything, but he should've been on the same level as the likes of Jericho & Edge as top heels in the company.
To be fair, Christian would've been screwed either if had stayed with TNA or left back to WWE. Hulk Hogan showed up the following year and it was down hill from there.

He was lucky enough to use his surroundings to his advantage. But, McMahon didn't use a bunch of great talents or make them huge stars when they could've made him tons of money. Christian was one of those talents who had everything to be a great star and top guy. TNA proved Christian Cage was a top talent who was a main eventer. In my opinion, Christian should've stayed with TNA until he would eventually go to AEW. Because his last WWE run while entertaining, was a joke compared to his TNA and AEW runs. I do believe Vince had some weird hangup on Christian and was punishing him for going to TNA. He did the same thing with Kurt Angle's last run which further proves McMahon was never a genius.
I believed Christian when he won the ladder match against Del Rio after when Edge retired in 2011 is what made him the face of WWE. He had a good run as World Heavyweight Champion he was one of many of my childhood to look back at the most. I didn’t understand why his run was so slow and the direction where he was going. After that’s when Randy Orton won the World Heavyweight Championship I didn’t like that direction cause Christian could’ve been better as a babyface until he turned heel. Looking back they needed to do better with his character & let him speak freely on the mic more and in segments.
Too bad Vince McMahon was so bitter towards Christian making a name for himself in another promotion because an Edge & Christian vs The Hardy’s Wrestlemania 25 storyline would had been huge.
We often hear about WWE "holding talent back", then they go to another company and they're even worse. But Christian had the runs of his life in TNA and AEW. Clearly, he absolutely was held back and he proved it.
Christian Cage is the greatest heel ever. When he told Jungle Boy his father was dead, is one of the greatest moments ever. Greater even that Luke Perry himself was friends with him and would have loved that heel heat. But when Christian ‘apologized’, is the greatest moment in heel promos ever.
Christian Cage is one of the best talents ever! He's a 10/10 both in the ring and on the mic and that can't be said about many others. He deserved much better in WWE but that rap*** Vince made sure to hold him back again and again. I hope he gets a massive run as AEW World Champion. I'd love to see him finally getting the huge run he deserves. I'd have Christian Cage be the Champion until he main events All In. He's one of the very best ever and he deserves to be seen as such. I hope he gets his flowers properly in the biggest way.

Should he really be doing that? But hey, that’s only my love for Good Ol JR kicking in. He’s a grown man and can do wat he wants 🤷🏽♂️
TNA and AEW saw the value and talent of Christian but Vince never could. That is one of the BIGGEST reasons I stopped watching WWE. Vince kept making mistake after mistake and I stopped watching because of it.
Vince knew he couldn’t send Christain to Raw or Smackdown because JR and Michael Cole. Would have not agree to buried Christian when he return back in the WWE. However I am not surprised by Vince holding back a talent. He has done this many times to many wrestlers. He only wants to push who he wants to push. Exactly why Roman Reigns “The Guy” was pushed down our throat for many years.
Just proves how out of touch Vince was. Christian is one of the best all around talents ever in pro wrestling. Could put on great matches and can talk as good as anyone. Kept making fun of Christian for being skinny and ugly, yet Edge was one of the most ugly and skinny guys in WWE history 🤣🤣🤣
This proves that vince lost creative credibility after WCW was bought out. His ego got bigger, which is insane to think about in hindsight because he already had a massive ego prior. It's unfortunate he had his nose in everything because a lot of his ideas after 01 were creatively bankrupt afterward. He couldn't see the value in the great talent he had because he was completely inept and allergic to good ideas at that point and was all the more reason to remove him from creative but unfortunately that was impossible because it was his company.
Don't forget that he was like that before in the early 90's too. It wasn't until he got out of the way of the talent that the Attitude Era started and the business went up. Had it been up to him, HHH would've still been an autocrat, Austin would've been Ice Dagger, the Rock would've still been dressed in colorful tassles, and Mick Foley would've been Manson the Mutilator.
@josephmelendez8370 You are a hundred percent right! I remember in the attitude Era that was the closest we ever got to him, barely involved with creative because he was so desperate to not lose the company he tried all kinds of stuff outside of the norm and I remember watching countless interviews with Austin, Triple H, HBK and Taker just to name a few where they helped pushed a lot of the creative in order for them to pick the momentum up.

Besides him coming back. It was weird with him being a good guy for the next two guys.
We often hear about WWE "holding talent back", then they go to another company and they're even worse.
But Christian had the runs of his life in TNA and AEW. Clearly, he absolutely was held back and he proved it.
I second the comments asking Jim to stop smoking, and I add a suggestion: BBQ sauce-flavored vape
First wrestling t shirt i ever Bought was a captain charisma shirt.
“That’s how they dress in Oklahoma” Vince is something else 😂😂😂
I loved Christian- he was so funny
I would literally watch Christian over any of the new guys they have today. He’s literally right there with Randy orton nd the other top guys!
Christian one of my faves....Vince is a legend too..
Shame he couldnt see much in christian
I ain’t gon lie if felt scary and great to see someone smoking a cigarette on camera again 🙌🏽
JR prolly doesn’t even realize how big that is in the modern day.
It feels like I (and JR now) are the only two left that actually still smoke 🤷🏽♂️😂 I love it n that regard.
But, my second mind is saying JR isn’t too healthy to begin with at the moment. Should he really be doing that?
But hey, that’s only my love for Good Ol JR kicking in. He’s a grown man and can do wat he wants 🤷🏽♂️
He could of had a longer Rivalry with Cena back then
McMahon always prioritized a gimmick/ height over the worker( who actually make the matches work).
If Christian had got roided up I bet Vince would have pushed him
Nah, Bruce & 'Taker have both said we shouldn't believe our lying eyes on this subject...
They’re being nice when they should say others were simply better.
Christian winning the world title in wwe and tna proves he can be the face of a company
I never knew JR smoked!? Wtf lol I love it
Glad he's smoking lights at least
Go back and watch that Christian return and the call it's amazing, oh look it's Christian lol
Jim Ross is looking more and more like my grand mother
I be scared to vape on cam and my boy smoking a square. Ima have to stop being scared lmao
That not a cig lil bruh … that’s joint . He rolled in a paper . They don’t even burn the same . And you should be a shame of vaping
Co host likes to hear himself talk too much
Never seen Christian have a bad match
Christian is the most underrated wrestler of all time.
JR ripping heaters
I would love if Christian came back!!!
Jim. Please stop smoking . I want my son to hear your incredible commentary for years to come. Sincerely a long time fan😊
A car can him him tomorrow. He can do whatever he wants. Drinking soda is bad for you too. Keep crying
shut it
Shut up
His body his choice
Andrew Dice Clay once said in a joke "ya smoking may kill you, but a guy i once knew never smoked, but got ran over a tobacco truck"....
Damn Jim, quit smoking ffs, we need you on this earth
8:18 JR felt that age comment
It’s…..Christian?!?!?
Vince looked at him as lesser edge
If used to the fullest I believe Christian would’ve been bigger than Edge.
Few understand this. His work in 2005 was impeccable, his reaction from the crowds were huge.
Your on crack
Lol no he wouldn't
@@buffstudwell646 You’re on crack
@@MikeHawkBurns208 Cool
Jim Ross smokes?
JR smoking cigs is crazy
I didn’t know JR smoked.
CHRISTIAN! CHRISTIAN! At last you’re on your own!!!!!!!
stories remind me of many other abused and misused talents like aj styles, braun strohman, elias, ricochet. etc
That makes perfect sense. Go to the other side & then try to come back thinking everything is cool 🤡.
Christian was better off in TNA than being jobbed to Cena
3:10 That's not how it happened.
I never cared for Christian either I always thought he was carried by Edge then later on Jericho
Smoking?
If he cares that little about his health, he won’t be around much longer.
Pat McAfee is better commentator than JR
I thought he was a really good ECW champion ... longtime fan
JR be smoking ? Damn
Jim ross character on tv is awesome
But as a person he lesves much to be desired
Christian was so good in TNA too. Such a waste.
Also sent christian back to tna for one night against his will for getting flair inducted to the hof with the horsemen
Christian probably shoulda took roids to endear himself to vinny mac
iNever saw anything in Cristian either.
Is JR smoking a cigarette 🚬??
Vince likes to possess and destroy things
Why would you choose to go to wwe to go to ecw a finished below par company that was just dangerous
Probably didn't like the fact that his name was Christian lol
Vince has purchased TNA
These two, speak the same.
Jr still smoking.. cmon man
Conrad stop rocking back and forth like Mankind, it's distracting.
Not defending Vince he’s trash but I think Todd is just covering his ass
'Vince is a strange dude." I am sorry JR, but he isn't just strange, but he is an idiot too. When it comes to common sense and booking I mean. When it comes to business, he is a genius, I will give him that. For the other 2 though, a complete idiot.
Vince McMahon is going to jail
Vince liked the guys that could turn heads and draw attention at airports. Christian looked like an average guy
J R smoking a jizzy?
Vince didn't like christian...and I don't like him EITHER!!!!...he's lucky ....aew made him a star
Christian was terrible since day one. He had the looks but he never really stood out on his on.
